A Declaration of War

“That the President of the United States would say such a thing and think it a good, responsible idea suggests the man is truly ignorant of or an enemy of the free market.”

After reflection on Barack Obama’s State of the Union address, I am left with one overarching conclusion: while boring, preachy, dull, overly serious, then flipping to overly jocular tones while trying to balance pandering to the middle class with holding his base — Barack Obama’s State of the Union address was a declaration of war on the free market.

Barack Obama said, “Now, the true engine of job creation in this country will always be America’s businesses.”

But prior to that, he said, “Because of the steps we took, there are about two million Americans working right now who would otherwise be unemployed. 200,000 work in construction and clean energy. 300,000 are teachers and other education workers. Tens of thousands are cops, firefighters, correctional officers, and first responders. And we are on track to add another one and a half million jobs to this total by the end of the year.”

Review the list. Every job listed is either a government job or a job so connected to government that it would not exist but for government. The clean energy industry? It would not exist, but for government subsidy. Construction? He is talking about roads and other infrastructure — jobs that will go away once the project is done and the whole way through is dependent on the government.

All of these are government jobs.

The President also said, “Talk to the small business in Phoenix that will triple its workforce because of the Recovery Act. Talk to the window manufacturer in Philadelphia who said he used to be skeptical about the Recovery Act, until he had to add two more work shifts just because of the business it created.”

But, what businesses are these? And who bought the windows? I bet it was related to the government in both cases.

That was just the beginning of his speech, wherein he also referred to the bank tax as a “fee,” which it is nothing of the sort. But his speech got much worse and when the independent voters consider the other points herein, Barack Obama will see his poll numbers fall even further.

The adults are clearly not in charge.

After these initial statements, the President said, “I’m proposing that we take $30 billion of the money Wall Street banks have repaid and use it to help community banks give small businesses the credit they need to stay afloat. I am also proposing a new small business tax credit – one that will go to over one million small businesses who hire new workers or raise wages.”

First, if the money flowing back to the government is flowing right back out, there is no net savings. Second, why community banks? They generally have less capital to lend to small businesses, thereby limiting growth. Third, why a tax credit, i.e. money back off taxes? Why not actually cut the tax rate on small businesses? Why not end the corporate income tax, which is now higher than most every single one of our international competitors. After all, the President did say, “If America sits on the sidelines while other nations sign trade deals, we will lose the chance to create jobs on our shores.” Many countries are competing with the United States through sharply reduced corporate income taxes.

The President also said, “we can put Americans to work today building the infrastructure of tomorrow. From the first railroads to the interstate highway system, our nation has always been built to compete. There’s no reason Europe or China should have the fastest trains, or the new factories that manufacture clean energy products” and “You see, Washington has been telling us to wait for decades, even as the problems have grown worse. Meanwhile, China’s not waiting to revamp its economy. Germany’s not waiting. India’s not waiting.”

This again assumes a dependence on government jobs and infrastructure. The comparison to China is, in fact, frightening. China is a command and control economy. What the communist leaders want, the communist leaders get. China was able to build its high speed train in record time by ignoring every law on the books pertaining to worker safety, environmental hazards, etc.

Additionally, the comparison to Europe is inapt. We are a vastly larger nation that the bulk of the European continent. Air travel makes more sense in this country because of the vastness of traveling distances.

Oh, and Germany and India are both cutting government.

But perhaps the biggest non sequitur of the entire speech was this passage:

To make college more affordable, this bill will finally end the unwarranted taxpayer-subsidies that go to banks for student loans. Instead, let’s take that money and give families a $10,000 tax credit for four years of college and increase Pell Grants. And let’s tell another one million students that when they graduate, they will be required to pay only ten percent of their income on student loans, and all of their debt will be forgiven after twenty years – and forgiven after ten years if they choose a career in public service. Because in the United States of America, no one should go broke because they chose to go to college. And it’s time for colleges and universities to get serious about cutting their own costs – because they too have a responsibility to help solve this problem.

Barack Obama wants to create a new entitlement that will drive the costs of collegiate education through the roof. If a student knows that only ten percent of their income will be used to pay their student loans and no matter what those students loans are they will be forgiven after 20 years, neither the student nor the college has any incentive to save money. It is basic free market economics.

That the President of the United States would say such a thing and think it a good, responsible idea suggests the man is truly ignorant of or an enemy of the free market.

Beyond that, note the preference for government work. Job creators are given a disincentive. Job regulators are given an incentive. This is both perverse and noxious.

One cannot read through the State of the Union address and come to any other conclusion than that Barack Obama is declaring war on the free market. It is more and more clear that Barack Obama does not have an American world view.

Economics is so simple I don’t get why these guys don’t get it. Thanks Eric!

Had Republicans been able to hang around long enough to finish applying their economic theories, we would have had a barter economy. How much more simple can it get?

Barter is better than the out right theft you left wing crazies seem to favour.

Our Demand

war_of_2010 Thursday, January 28th at 6:01AM EST (link)

2010 Fed Budget $3.5 Trillion; estimated revenue $2.2 Trillion; likely revenue <$2.0 Trillion…SHORTFALL $1.5 Trillion http://bit.ly/aQHiJY

Entitlements are killing us.

Our Demand

We, the American People
American Patriots All
Allegiance To Our Flag, in Accordance With Our Constitution,
For Love Of Our Country, One Nation Under God
are being portrayed as right-wing extremists,
a lunatic fringe element, and astroturf
we are everyday Americans
We, are the American People

In regards to this administration’s lobbyist-generated
back-room, closed-door, Healthcare Reform Bill,
to say Americans are ANGRY is the
“understatement of the year”

Enough already

Stop the insanity

Keep your politics out of our Healthcare

Healthcare reform done right utilizes the K.I.S.S. philosophy
and first focuses on four primary cost factors
Fraud, Tort, Billing, and Drug Prices

Healthcare fraud is said to cost taxpayers
hundreds of billions of dollars a year
With an intelligent database
there would not be this cost
Only idiots would add trillions of dollars
to a healthcare system that is leaking money like a sieve
without fixing the system first

Tort Insurance is quoted as between 4-6%
of the overall Healthcare cost
an estimated 120 Billion Dollars per year
Seems quite logical that to reduce costs
to take lawyers out of our healthcare

Billing hassle is quoted as 8%
of the overall Healthcare cost
With an intelligent database
there would not be this cost

Drug Price Reform
Americans demand the right
to obtain our prescription drugs
from the least expensive legitimate
pharmaceutical source on the planet
this is not subject to discussion

E-Verifying recipients for unemployment benefits
will save substantial amounts of money

and E-Verifying Driver’s License recipients
will help secure our country

and E-Verifying all workers will generate 8.3 million jobs
currently held by known illegals

all recipients, of any entitlement
federal, or state
must be E-Verified to eliminate most fraud
and preferably Bio-ID’d to eliminate all fraud

Need we remind Congress, and this administration
that Entitlements cost taxpayers 50% of our Federal Budget

Fraud in Entitlements alone
costs Americans more, each year, than both wars
and arguably, fraud costs Americans, more, in a single year
than both wars, in total, over the last ten years

FIX THE FRAUD FIRST before doing anything else
and we’ll save 1 Trillion Dollars a year
actually even more

in the meantime we will solicit
the input of all healthcare workers,
caring doctors, nurses, technicians,
and maintenance workers, et al
so they can tell us how to improve healthcare
and reduce the cost
in these very trying times
that are very likely to last for far longer
than any of us want them to.
they will help save healthcare for us

Do not disregard, We, the American People
by continuing to act, deaf, dumb, and blind
to the overwhelming consensus
of the very people you profess to represent

First Fix Fraud, Tort, Billing, and Drug Prices
process the ideas of the healthcare people
and we can have a one page bill
for We, the American People
sometime after we back away from the abyss
and are back on our feet again.
to say now is not the time
is another of those
“understatements of the year”

Terrorists should always be
the responsibility of our Military and our CIA
Keep Gitmo open
it’s the perfect out of the way place
to keep terrorists, who would do harm to our citizens,
imprisoned by our military

and last, but not at all least

FREE OUR NAVY SEALS

punishing our Seals for punching a known terrorist
isn’t any consolation for the deaths of innocent Americans
and it doesn’t at all present the image of who we Americans are
Americans stand riveted behind our Military and our Intelligence Community
they must be encouraged to keep us safe
not deterred for petty offenses in the exercising of their duties
Heaven forbid if we, Americans, ever got our hands on terrorists
there would be no need for a trial

A Contract Of, For, and With, Americans
Patriots, it is our duty to educate all Americans

30 million illegals are in our country

war_of_2010 Thursday, January 28th at 6:06AM EST (link)

Our Southwest Border

In the last 22 years, since the 1986, Reagan, one-time amnesty, to a thought to be 1.3 million illegals, that turned out to be 3.5 million (and still counting) over 27 million illegals have been apprehended, as they crossed the border into our United States.

UNITED STATES BORDER APPREHENSIONS (Source DHS/CBP)
1987–1,190,488——1995–1,394,554——2003—-931,557
1988–1,008,145——1996–1,649,986——2004–1,160,395
1989—-954,243——1997–1,412,953——2005–1,189,075
1990–1,169,939——1998–1,555,776——2006–1,089,902

1994–1,094,717——2002—-955,310——2010—-beg. 10/01/09

UNFORTUNATELY, less than half of illegals are apprehended at the border. Before the recent addition (over the last two years) of 10,000 Border Patrol agents, and 322 miles of fence, and 304 miles of vehicle barriers, only 32 miles double-layered, it was estimated, by the border patrol agents, that less than 1, out of 7, illegals, were apprehended at the border. Some border patrol agents said less than 1, out of 10.

Now, border patrol agents, collectively, could approximate what percentage of illegals they catch. They said they catch more than half of the ones they know about. How many don’t they know about.

According to the U.S. Immigration Service another 6 million illegals in our country are visa overstays.

Anchor babies are now being born at a rate of 400,000 per year http://bit.ly/7vCkH6

In recent years, due mostly to the failing economy, but aided by the fence, the number of apprehensions has been decreasing.

Shutting out private enterprise

trutexan Thursday, January 28th at 6:11AM EST (link)

All I know is that at my government office, we’re converting 72 positions – just in my section – from government contractor to government civil service. Sometimes there are fewer positions available than contractors so some are losing their jobs.

I was anti-Obama before it was cool.

Thats a new "policy" supposedly....

monstermom (Diary) Thursday, January 28th at 8:55AM EST (link)

Someone at OMB apparently got it into his / her head that converting contract jobs to full time employees would save money. So many federal offices are creating FTE positions and eliminating contractor positions.

It’s official.

Declaring war on the people. Obama's intentional acts.

archer52 Thursday, January 28th at 7:05AM EST (link)

After last night it is now clear we are being led by a committed ideologue. His agenda is not the health or welfare of his citizens, their businesses, or their futures. His agenda is HIS agenda. From the head tilt and far away gaze, to his demand that all things STILL bend to his will, we are seeing a modern incarnation of Mussolini. He just dismissed the will of the people as though it were a gnat buzzing about his royal head.

Here is the rub- what happens when the immovable object meets the irresistible force. His core supporters are probably less than twenty percent of the population- welfare recipients, race supporters, far left ideologues like himself, corrupt government officials and their support network and certain corporations which intend to ride the high speed Obama rail to European statism. The rest of the people are going to be split along two lines. Those who will go along because they fear the loss of security, jobs, financial security or healthcare. (For example, FOX just had a guy on who is out of a job and on COBRA. He laments that soon he will not be able to afford the fees as they continue to triple and wishes Obama success in his efforts so the man can be taken care of. He never lamented that it was Government’s fault his COBRA costs so much in the first place. This man has been turned, turned by fear, turned by dismay, his will is broken and his is now willing to believe whatever history the government feeds him as truth. This is how it is done people.)

On the other hand, there will be a certain group of Americans who will refuse to submit willingly- those who know the truth, those who speak the truth. Obama must somehow deal with them, with us, in a manner that will neuter them until he can either turn or eliminate them. He cannot survive with a vibrant element inside the country criticizing his decisions. No tyrant can.

For those of you out there with friends who say “How bad can he be?” or “We are just misreading his intentions.” I hope now we are past the “ah golly” stage of dealing with this man who I believe truly thinks he is the chosen one. Before I figured he was just sold on himself. Not anymore. He has left himself little wiggle room between what he wants and what we will not give him. So his only option left is to take it.

So the question is still this- What happens when the irresistible force meets the immovable object?

Mao knew, as did Mussolini, Stalin and all that came before them.

Welcome to the war.

People can't accept that this is a different paradigm.

Achance (Diary) Thursday, January 28th at 10:33AM EST (link)

The Legislature is back in session so I’ve been out and about a good bit and talking to a lot of people in the watering holes and at various events. People in the main still just view him as a business as usual politician, a liberal politician but otherwise conventional. They want to see him as another Clinton or Carter and can’t conceive of him being totally unlike either. There’s also a lot of resonance still for “the Republicans were worse” or “Bush was worse,” this is particularly common with people who aren’t political and with the working stiff types. We should never underestimate what a good job the Ds and the MSM did of completely trashing GWB and the Republican brand. We shouldn’t be banking on any resurgence anything soon based our being Republicans. The mood in the Country I beleve is simply anti-goverment and anti-incumbent. A Republican incumbent is just as vulnerable to a Democrat outsider challenger as a Democrat is vulnerable to a Scot Brown.

For those of us who know what we’re looking at, Comrade Obama is clearly and unquestionably a communist radical organizer who can keep a thin disguising veneer in place so long as he has TOTUS. First, the American people aren’t used to characters like that, so they don’t know what they’re looking at. Second, the whole notion that there are such people and that they are dedicated to destroying the US as it is, is just unfathonable to most Americans. There will be people voting in the ’10 election who weren’t born with the Soviet Union collapsed and there are millions who think Castro is just some quaint old guy and Che is just a cool dude with a beard and beret.

It is a hard sell, even to a lot of conservatives and Republicans that BHO isn’t like any other politician this generation of Americans have ever seen. Probably the last person holding similar views in executive office was FDR’s VP Henry Wallace. So, while we are certainly in a war for the future of the America we know, few people realize it yet and you often don’t get a very warm reception for telling them.

They brought in staff organizers and reps from DC, all college educated and all with a background at the various organized labor training schools, workshops, and seminars, all communists, all totally snarky, before that was even a word, when dealing with the employer, but able to clean it up at the drop of a hat when “the public” was in sight. Obama's Agenda

war_of_2010 Thursday, January 28th at 7:26AM EST (link)

remains a massive transfer of wealth, from those at all affluent to the poor, and to the illegal immigrants.

that is why I continue to insist that we begin addressing/attacking the fraud in the over 2,000 entitlements, grants, and subsidies.,

it will begin to focus American’s attention on the massive amounts of money that are being transferred into the entitlement community through every means that Obama, and his comrades, have been able to find, or create..

entitlements are the soft undefended underbelly of the monster we are attempting to slay.

it is the way and the light

besides, who can successfully argue against wanting to first fix the fraud and save 100′s of billions of dollars.

About that "window manufacturer in Philadelphia"

merryj1 Thursday, January 28th at 7:27AM EST (link)

Just in the past week or two there was a conflict-of-interest report — I think on Fox, might’ve been a segment of Glenn Beck’s show (sorry, I ran out of ginko biloba); anyway, the wife of a window mfg top dog is an Administration insider – Biden lauded the company’s windows as “the best in the industry” (raising howls, factual challenges and disputes from the company’s competitors). In short, this is another load of crap from a very deceptive, self-serving, one-hand-washing-another corruptocrat. Ptooie!

It was Glenn's show

bigmaude Thursday, January 28th at 7:58AM EST (link)

He had pictures and everything. I am glad you posted it. It was the only window manufacter that o and the gaff machine Biden actually mentioned by name. Yea, his wife is in charge of making homes more energy efficient with stimulus $ and he owns the window company. Wow, I am no lawyer but I am a thinker, wouldn’t that be like, I don’t know,WRONG????? MY WORD, do these people and this proud, cocky president ever stop? Someone tell me that he isn’t like Pharoah in The Ten Commandments when he would wave his hand and say to HIS cronies,”So let it be written, so let it be done.” And does it end the same way, horse and the driver drown in the sea, and that the conservatives and repubulicans, yea I make the distinction, wander in the wilderness AGAIN!

Serious materials is the window mfg

wilfranc Thursday, January 28th at 8:52AM EST (link)

Yes, I thought the same thing. John Stossel actually produced the segment, and I believe one of the executives wives is employed by the Administration and it appears to be a conflict of interest.

Serious materials was the only window manufacturer to receive fed money.

I also caught the employment list of saved and created jobs and it struck me that they were all taxpayer supported.

Clear as Glass?

Or should I say wondering if these people had the “gall” (now there’s a word we don’t hear much these days) to actually cite that company as a sterling example of how much good the stimulus did. Serious Materials bought a PA plant, but it is in Vandergriff, PA – near the OH border and far from Philly. Of course they might have been mistaken on the city in PA. :-)

Stossel has some great shows on many topics on fox biz channel

Yes, it is appalling that there was no disclosure of Serious Windows CEO wife is in the DOE. Serious windows are pretty nice and energy efficient but real pricey too.

I wish the REP response could have pointed out that the companies Obama referred to(gee wonder why he didn’t name them?) have high level government connections. That would have blown him out of the water. The MSM won’t report it of course.

Definition of Marxism

izoneguy (Diary) Thursday, January 28th at 7:53AM EST (link)

Main Entry: Marx·ism
Pronunciation: \?märk-?si-z?m\
Function: noun
Date: 1887
: the political, economic, and social principles and policies advocated by Marx; especially : a theory and practice of socialism including the labor theory of value, dialectical materialism, the class struggle, and dictatorship of the proletariat until the establishment of a classless society
— Marx·ist \-sist\ noun or adjective

Obama = Marxism

This is why this administration must be stopped at every level.
it stopped being funny after last night. This man is a manical Marxist.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

You are soooo right....

The Republicans in Congress & the democrats that are left with any free market ideals

izoneguy (Diary) Thursday, January 28th at 8:53AM EST (link)

The Republicans in Congress & the democrats that are left with any free market ideals must resist Obama at every step. Obama is the one that threw “bipartianship” under the bus. If he extends a hand they must cut it off. If Obama has more “ideas” they must be shot down.

If NOTHING gets done for the next three years – that is fine with me.
Republicans need to get Obama out of that drivers seat and pull the bus over to the side of the road…..

What will the market do today?

jeepnpat1 (Diary) Thursday, January 28th at 8:55AM EST (link)

Erick, excellent job as always sir. As others have stated above, you explained thoroughly a part of the speech. It makes sense to do the opposite of what this man is saying in his speeches. He says one thing but then does another (or dithers). He then blames others for things not getting done (ie appointments) to score cheap political points. Wasn’t his entire speech a collection of gathering cheap political points? Also, when he reads letters at night from ‘ordinary Americans’ does he need TOTUS? If he needs it for speaking to an elementary class, then certainly he needs is everywhere else he goes.

The entire speech was about him, his wife, a mention of Jill Biden and a jab at Republicans/conservative policies every chance he could. I remember when a president would have a guest sitting next to the first lady and that person would be mentioned and the room would stand and cheer for that person. Not a word was said to thank officers Munley and Todd for their heroics in taking down the Fort Hood shooter.

Also, I thought the money which the banks have paid back wasn’t supposed to be used as a slush fund. I thought it was meant to go and help pay off the deficit.

Thanks again Erick!

I mentioned to my husband how it was strange he didn’t introduce officers Munley and Todd, but to do so he would have had to mention the Ft. Hood terrorist attack.

When the speech first started my husband wondered why Mrs. O was sitting with two “cops”. He had no idea who they were until I told him. I’ll bet most of those watching didn’t either.

Mr. Obama has already declared war on our society

Marcus_Traianus (Diary) Thursday, January 28th at 9:07AM EST (link)

This is somewhat of a dilatory proclamation given Mr. Obama and the Democrats have largely been fighting this war for the last three years- most notably since last January.

In the space of that time they have wasted almost a trillion dollars on what amounts to a government jobs program. This masquerade was said a necessary stopgap to keep unemployment at 8%. As we now are approaching 10%, with real unemployment being much higher we should see this as the first shot in a war against our populace.

In the next battle, Democrats launch a volley against small business an every American that uses energy. In passing “Cap and Trade” they guaranteed that every business and consumer of energy would face a cost increase.

In the following battle, Democrats and Mr. Obama attempted a government takeover of the heath care industry. Consequentially, that industry is one of the largest, healthy (so to speak) parts of our economy and has been bludgeoned by the cancer in Congress.

Next, Mr. Obama granted our sacred Constitutional rights to terrorists that either have killed American civilians or soldiers or expressly raised arms as enemy combatants. After 50 minutes of questioning, Mr. Obama had a man who was not an American citizen, that tried to blow up 300 men, women and children on a plane de facto citizenship by reading his Miranda rights.

I would say the “Obama Doctrine”, which is primarily to grow government at the expense of our private society, is firmly established and essentially a declaration of war against every American suffering under his occupation.

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson

How will the American People Respond?

earlgrey (Diary) Thursday, January 28th at 9:13AM EST (link)

Much has been said about the ability of the President to inspire people iwth his speechmaking. I was shocked when there was a bump in the Obama approval ratings after his speech on healthcare in September 09. He did not acknowledge all the town halls and the passions of those opposed.

It was along the lines of I am going to do what I want to do. From what I have read so was this speech. It will be interesting to see how the people will react. Any updates from Obamagirl since the speech?

Seeing as how the billions

persiflage Thursday, January 28th at 9:29AM EST (link)

of dollars given to the banks to save them and the economy from catastrophic failure were all phony-baloney fake/created-out-of-thin-air dollars anyway, the return of those billions to the treasury can’t in any way help to pay off the deficit! The best thing for the strength of the dollar would be for the treasury to take all the returned billions and burn them. At least then we could get the heat value out of them.

They’re using their Marxist belief to lower our wealth, so that others can have an equal part. Once you see them for the socialist they are, it’s much easier to understand their warped decisions. The Lesson of an Affirmative Action President

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

I’ve worked with and for quite a few affirmative action hires and tokens. What’s most frightening about them is that most of them believe that they are actually doing the high-level job they’re sitting in; the army of people that it takes to support such people and to fix or cover their screwups is simply invisible to them.

You have made a significant error in reasoning:

Eddie S Thursday, January 28th at 10:40AM EST (link)

When you say, “when the independent voters consider the other points herein, Barack Obama will see his poll numbers fall even further”, you are assuming a high level of intelligent consideration of language on the part of independent voters.

I would argue that, if independent voters applied reasoning like this to political speeches, we would not have a President Obama in the first place.

And for all those who keep expressing amazement at the complete inability to grasp economic fundamentals by the Administration, you seem to be overlooking the possibility that they know exactly how economics function, and that perhaps their goals are not precisely what they say they are on television…

It’s clear that President Obama wants to be FDR. He wants the government to produce the jobs and pick the winners- like that window outfit in Philly.

Obama even went after the Supreme Court. No doubt he would love to do a little FDR court packing. If he continues down this path he may find his party losing 80 seats in the House, as FDR did in the late 30s.

As a small businessman, tax credits don’t excite me and I don’t need a handout or even a hand-up. Cut the payroll taxes and taxes in general. I am sick of giving up half of what we produce. If it doesn’t change, we are going to be in for high employment for a long, long time – just like under FDR.

Clean energy industry comes from US home-grown innovation

isaidnokitty Monday, February 1st at 1:18AM EST (link)

And to think otherwise is an insult to every entrepreneur who is creating energy source alternatives and energy efficiency technologies. Not the government. The government is providing incentives in form of tax credits to these types of companies and manufacturers as well as to home owners and building owners – the play is saving energy and saving money. It’s not simple, but it is a simple concept because everybody wins. I think they should be doing more – energy standards, saving standards, aren’t necessarily high enough. But age old industries lobby every day to keep standards down so they don’t have to invest millions into remanufacturing. I come from a company that has been putting its neck out on the line, raising money from private investors, poured it into R&D, poured it into reopening bankrupt and closed factories – and we have never taken a single dime from the government – to simply make better products that save more money and energy – products that make sense. I’m VERY thankful to the entrepreneurs who take the risk and have the drive to reinvent – whether the iPad or the next generation of windows or LED lighting. The government better create an environment in which these entrepreneurs can thrive…. and may the best products win. That’s all we should care about. Some interesting opinions you have – but I don’t give the government credit, or blame, for many of the jobs and innovations that are leading and are thriving – and they have to.
