The Crist campaign says it is not true, but the writing is on the wall. Again and again the media turns against Crist.
Another blow to the Crist campaign came today as the Republican National Committee’s War Room sent out this unflattering story about the failures of the Crist campaign.
The RNC did that. [UPDATE: Todd Herman at the RNC tells me this afternoon (1/12/2010) that "The War Room is a new gathering service which gathers news from a huge variety of sources, which serves to keep our employees informed about news coverage from all over. Consequently, the War Room send out hundreds of stories, helpful and unhelpful to Republicans, each day---all of them for information only." He also notes the RNC does not endorse any of the articles.]
But Crist valiantly made a blow stand this evening in Pinellas County. It is his home county. After seeing Marco Rubio win every single straw poll of every single county in Florida that has had them so far, Crist knew that tonight he would win the Pinellas County GOP straw poll. It is, after all, his own freaking county.
Crist lost. The vote was 106-54 in Marco Rubio’s favor. In Charlie Crist’s home county.
Charlie Crist is going to drop out of the U.S. Senate primary in Florida. The writing is on the wall. It reads “Mene Mene Tekel Parsin“.
“I volunteered for Charlie for nine years. I love Charlie as a person. If he was here, I would give him a big hug. He actually called me about this (straw poll) yesterday,’’ said Wilna Varney of Largo, who voted for Rubio. “But I’m a more conservative person and I’m going to support the more conservative candidate.”

Talking to him is a waste of time
Michael Dugas (Diary) Tuesday, January 12th at 12:01AM EST (link)John Cornyn is very good at the lip service part of his job but I have come to doubt that lip service. Most recently we exchanged Facebook posts and he swore up and down that Chuck DeVore hadn’t contacted him at all and asked for a meeting, two days later DeVore is showing evidence of several attempts to contact Cornyn and the NRSC….ignored. And then there was this opinion he wrote in Texas about a practise by the Texas School System that we called The Robin Hood Practice or the like, I can’t remember it’s actual name but it was basically a redistribution of wealth and penalization of success scam where they took moneys from schools districts with high property taxes and gave it to school districts with low property taxes. It was VERY unpopular in Harris County and pretty much every Texas Republican and regardless of how much pressure, and it was significant, we put on him he went all in on that and wrote an opinion supporting the constitutionality of that theft. It’s always ticked me off…as you can tell. So I question his intentions and strategy’s and every word from his mouth.

Cornyn has sealed his fate
edintexas Tuesday, January 12th at 6:40PM EST (link)with the NRSC “leadership” post. But I have to be honest here – Texas had a court order to improve the financing of poor school districts (which obviously couldn’t be done with property taxes – the lack of tax income was the problem. So the first thing the Democrats brought up (and some squishy Rs too) was an income tax. Since that is the real 3d rail of Tx politics, the “Robin Hood Plan” was dreamed up to have the “richer” school districts kick in to fund the poor districts. I won’t say it was right, but it passed muster with the courts for a number of years.
Don't get too comfortable!

fpete13527 (Diary) Monday, January 11th at 11:40PM EST (link)Just got back from the first debate conducted for the four conservatives running for FL House (Tampa District 11) to replace Kathy Castor (SEIU Queen and right hand lady to Pelosi and Deathcare). While listening to the candidates, we were monitoring and texting with another group that was in St Pete at the Crist straw poll. We were ecstatic when we heard the news!! Most in the room, who know this territory better than I do, feel that Crist will drop out soon.
As far as Tampa goes, I thought all four candidates were very good and very committed conservatives. The candidate that probably will be my pick will be Eddie Adams. He knows the area best and he seems the most in tune with the district and the most able to win…and he is very conservative.
The challenge in Tampa will be to shift an almost unchangeable paradigm. This district was purposely “rigged” to be pure Democrat and it has been that since the beginning of time. Given the current circumstances though in DC, and given the contagious passion of the Tampa Tea Parties and 912 Groups, there is a building explosiveness that I believe could maybe make it happen here. Couple this with the fact that people here, ALL PEOPLE HERE, (other than SEIU) HATE Castor. The entire community R and D thinks here infamous “doors closed, SEIU run” Town Hall, Deathcare meeting was a disgrace to humanity. This is the ripest time in history to change the paradigm for this District..and if this Distrcit can turn conservative R then ANYWHERE can!!!.
The Real good news tonight though is about Crist straw poll.!! I am on cloud nine tonight.
DO THE HONORABLE THING CHARLIE. STEP DOWN QUICKLY AND EMPOWER THE CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATES AND CONSERVATIVE CHANGES THAT THE PEOPLE IN FLORIDA AND THE U.S. ARE COMMITTED TO.
