Last night in Washington, close to one hundred leaders of the conservative movement gathered in a townhouse just down from the United States Capitol to hear Senator Jim DeMint and Florida Speaker Marco Rubio at a Senate Conservatives Fund fundraiser for Marco Rubio.
The people in the room for Rubio were the same people who blew up NY-23, helping Doug Hoffman and crushing the chances of a far left Republican, Dede Scozzafava.
Just prior to the start of the fundraiser, a bomb went off in Florida. According to Rasmussen, the Florida Senate primary is now tied between Rubio and Crist.
For perspective, only about six months ago, Rubio was in the single digits with Crist safely over 50%.
Jim DeMint told the crowd that Rubio is one of a handful of “new Republicans” running to take back our country. And the new poll shows it is working.
Charlie Crist is the only candidate the National Republican Senatorial Committee will admit to endorsing. The actually used the word “endorse.” Since their endorsement, Crist has seen a top fundraiser indicted for a ponzi scheme, taken every position possible on the Obama stimulus plan, replaced his campaign team, and gone from over fifty percent in the polling to tied with Marco Rubio.
Rubio will win. The Establishment will be defeated. Conservatives will advance and with them freedom.
Jim DeMint told the crowd that attended if they were there, they were no longer part of the establishment. The leaders of the conservative movement were there and they and their checkbooks are going to throw the GOP establishment under Barack Obama’s bus.

2. We don’t sell the ads. Eagle Publishing’s marketing people do. We do remove ads that are offensive, such as ads expressly promoting adultery, but if we tried to remove every ad we *disagreed* with, we’d be laughed at and ignored by the business side.

peg_c (Diary) Wednesday, December 16th at 5:44AM EST (link)This is just fantastic news for conservatives at a time when we really, really need some. And we need the leadership of good conservatives like DeMint to help us defeat the GOP establishment! It would be particularly exciting to see Palin get involved with the Rubio campaign. I’d love to see her campaigning for conservatives all over the country in 2010. (And Fred! too — Fred!Fred!Fred!)
After NY-23 (I am in NY-22) I knew the coalition that very nearly put Doug Hoffman in office would be successful with other campaigns because all they (we) needed was just a bit more time. We have well over 10 months to cream Crist with Rubio and win in tons of other races.
Will the NRSC, the RNC, and other GOP establishment orgs get on board or go down with a sinking ship of moderate mediocrity? As long as conservatives clean moderates’ and Blue Dogs’ clocks, I don’t really care.

Dear Friend of Liberty,
My son Rand has the status quo running scared in his race for Kentucky Senate. First, he outraised his opponent. Next, Rand took the lead in the polls. And now, the party insiders are scrambling.
We just found out that the National Republican Senatorial Committee has formed a joint fundraising committee to support Rand’s opponent. These party bosses are desperate to keep Rand out of the Senate because they know he will fight against the big government, high taxes and out of control spending that they helped create. Rand can win, but he needs your help.

curious
spepper Wednesday, December 16th at 8:02AM EST (link)I’m curious as to how it came to be, that conservatives would now be fighting to “take back” the Republican party– from 1994, and the Haley Barbour- led RNC’s smashing victories across the country, to 2006 defeats and current days of hanging on by a fingernail, as managed by Steele et.al.– the massive growth of federal government in years 2001 to 2008 did not help matters– the average voter saw right through all that to realize that the Gingrich-prescribed Contract with America was over by then– and found nobody with the intestinal fortitude to stand up for it–
They forgot the principles that got them into office
peg_c (Diary) Wednesday, December 16th at 9:36AM EST (link)Also, times of great prosperity unfortunately bring in huge revenues and even huger ambitions for spending. W was good for defending the country but a fiscal conservative he was not. The rest of the party (with some exceptions) joined in the spending orgies. They also continue to think if they’re just Dem Lite they’ll be liked inside the Beltway and by the Drive-Bys. Ain’t. Gonna. Happen.
Also, we baby boomers were earning tons to create the gravy, while using little in entitlement resources. We didn’t have a boomer population retiring and threatening the solvency of the country, in 1994. Now we are aging, using a lot more healthcare, retiring and not earning so not contributing to prosperity, and we still are to a certain extent PIGS. We have spent our lives thinking we can have our cake and eat it, too. Now there’s no cake for anyone and the government is determined to take our last dollar and punish us if we even try to complain. We waited way too long to hold our politicians’ feet to the fire because as long as there was lots of gravy to go around no one cared about corruption and waste. And that is the G_d’s truth.
You see, there’s a teensy silver lining to bad economic times. Government gets denied its gravy – or should. The borrowing, printing and spending of billion$ we don’t have to spend on stuff we don’t want is finally waking up the fiscal conservative inside a lot of pigs. 10 years ago you could not have convinced enough people in this country that this was an urgent issue to have effected anything. We can’t go back and do right everything we did wrong. We’ve made our bed, now we lie in it. Now we have to try to prevent the wholesale theft of our descendants’ futures, and we’re not in a very good position.
Government cannot be the solution when government is the problem.
Kentucky Senate Race
eldstenorge Wednesday, December 16th at 8:10AM EST (link)The only problem with the remarks is that Trey Greyson has always been a conservative as well, and he is in his second term as an elected state official in Kentucky. The only reason Rand Paul is doing anything is all the Paul people, who are not by any means a majority, are sending the money they gave to his dad last year, who did absolutely terrible in the primaries despite all his money. Trey Greyson is a great candidate and has proven himself. Rand Paul has proven himself as a doctor, but nothing else, except words. Why do we accept his words, when we accept no others? Because he is part of the cult culture of the Paulistas. Not enough, my friend.
