I ran into Michael Steele in the airport before anyone knew who he was – as friendly and as personable as could be. Do I wish he could channel some inner Dick Cheney from time to time when battling statist morons? -without a doubt. Certainly the case can be made that we need a more effective communicator heading the RNC, but in the new age of Saul Alinksy liberal guerilla politics, it’s nice to have a black man at the helm, if nothing else but to help beat back the “bunch of white guys” stereotype they love to advance.

The key question is this: are we better off with a black guy that isn’t a great spokesman or a white guy (or even woman) that is? If you have an unbiased, engaged electorate, no. But, after electing a man with no experience or accomplishments to the Oval Office on the pure basis that he’s black, I think the case can be made a different messenger may be in order to break through to some voters. But, who knows…maybe we’ll never get the identity politics voters anyway. Their skin deep view of the world seems to fit right in with the entitlement check platform of the left.

All that said, I’m not convinced Steele is doing a great job in terms of bringing over new R voters, but I’m not sure anyone else’s next choice would be any better.

This isn’t exactly Nero fiddling while Rome is burning. Admittedly, I’m not the biggest Michael Steele fan on the planet, but what exactly do you think he should have been doing during the (at most) half hour it took to say thank you like this to his no-doubt hard-working interns?

We’re the good guys. We need to have fun. With the Democrats, the central focus of their lives is politics. This makes them bitter, angry people. With us, politics is a secondary concern that we attend to so that we might then go out and ENJOY LIFE. If we forget that, we’ll end up turning in Democrats.

If we are 50, they are 51 with Biden.
