The SEALs are not in trouble for capturing a terrorist. They are in trouble for abusing a prisoner and for covering up the incident. It does not matter whether the prisoner is a famous terrorist or some poor slob who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, it is the responsibility of his captors, under militaty law, regulations, custom and tradition to do the following :
1. SECURE the prisoner – search the prisoner and make sure the prisoner is disarmed.
2. SILENCE the prisoner. Do not allow prisoners in custody to talk – if necessary, gag them.
3. SEPERATE the prisoners. As far as possible, keep the prisoners seperate. Particulary seperate “leaders” from “followers.”
4. SPEED the prisoners out of the combat area into a rear area as soon as possible.
5. SAFEGUARD the prisoners. Do your best to prevent any harm to prisoners in you charge.

This is the responsibility of any military person who captures a prisoner. The SEAL in question, although a non-commissioned officer in an elite unit, acted as if he was judge, jury and executioner when, without provocation, he struck the prisoner. The other SEALs violated their military oath when they tried to cover-up the incident.

I will not dishonor the uniform that I once wore bysigning this petition.

Do not classify the words or deeds of your opponents as being hatefull, malicious or criminal in nature if they can also be easily characterized as simple ignorance or gross stupidity. Anon.

Agreed....

This incident, if true, assuredly belies the SEAL’s training and should be investigated. People so often forget that a court martial is also an avenue to explain your actions and if appropriate, be exonerated.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Ummm, ALLEGEDLY “… without provocation…”, ALLEGEDLY “…struck…”

“The other SEALs violated their military oath when they tried to cover-up the incident.”

ALLEGEDLY “…tried to cover-up the incident.”

You come across Longwalker in the same manner you accuse the seals of. Lets be open-minded…..BOTH WAYS please. Barry
