Cheerleader, Not a Real Leader

Great post from Wayne Simmons at Human Events.

At no time in recent American military history has a speech delivered by a President of the United States done so much to distance our nation from victory and put the men and woman of the military and intelligence agencies in harm’s way.

President Obama’s big Afghanistan speech caused nary a tremble in the polls.  Before he spoke, most Americans didn’t support him.  And after?  His popularity continues to sink.

It was positively painful to watch Gen. Stanley McChrystal try to explain how you can win by not losing in his Tuesday congressional testimony.  He’s doing the president’s bidding, not following a leader who has a clear idea of how to win a war.

The military is supposed to be non-partisan

When on active duty, and in uniform, I believe our military members are not to make any political speeches or to be activists for one party over another. Gen. McChrystal is stuck with the Commander in Chief that a majority of cultists elected. I was disturbed to read the linked Human Events article here today, pointing out that Gen. Petraeus has allowed our 3 Seals to be punished for carrying out their mission. He also is bound by a CIC that will go down in history as one of the most anti-military, anti-war and mostly anti-American evil people in our countries history.

That is always your last option if you can’t serve under your “leaders”.

It’s the honorable thing to do.

if you're in the Military you continue to lead, as best you can.

The oath carries no statute of limitations, as far as I am concerned I am still sworn to defend the Constitution of these United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, and to bear true faith and allegiance to the same.

All you can do is be disgusted and pray for better days. The only bright spot is that the military is very decentralized. 9/11 is a good example, no one could tell the Pentagon had been blown up, sure we saw it on TV but our days went on, you couldn’t tell by looking that the highest HQ in the land was disabled. You just do what is right and drive on.

“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”—Samuel Adams

“It’s not only that President Obama is naïve and ignorant of history and the roles of our military and intelligence communities in world affairs. It’s mostly his inability to lead.

Obama has lots of company on the left in this regard.
