Steven Hayward on Climategate

You just have to read this.

Slowly and mostly unnoticed by the major news media, the air has been going out of the global warming balloon. Global temperatures stopped rising a few years ago, much to the dismay of the climate campaigners. The U.N.’s upcoming Copenhagen conference–which was supposed to yield a binding greenhouse gas emissions reduction treaty as a successor to the failed Kyoto Protocol–collapsed weeks in advance and remains on life support pending Obama’s magical intervention. Cap and trade legislation is stalled on Capitol Hill. Recent opinion polls from Gallup, Pew, Rasmussen, ABC/Washington Post, and other pollsters all find a dramatic decline in public belief in human-caused global warming. The climate campaigners continue to insist this is because they have a “communications” problem, but after Al Gore’s Nobel Prize/Academy Award double play, millions of dollars in paid advertising, and the relentless doom-mongering from the media echo chamber and the political class, this excuse is preposterous. And now the climate campaign is having its Emperor’s New Clothes moment.

Sit down, Al Gore, your 15 minutes are up.

You can keep the Academy Award. It will make a great weapon to fend of the angry mob of people you fleeced with your Global Warming Scam.

He's right, folks. You *must* read the entire thing

The quote Erick used was good, but it doesn’t do justice to the entire article. That article is gold.

With the whole AGW Greenies takeover attempt of the world saga I feel like I’ve been watching a bad B movie… finally the natives have appeared in the form of hackers and the spearing to death of the monster is in those emails…

Yet, our own President seeks

to keep the beast alive to devour his own country.

I say “What’ up with that sucka?”

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

It's because

Great article by Hayward.

Especially if you’ve been following this all along, or have a scientific background. Here is another good article, especially if you don’t have quite as strong a background in science & statistics, or haven’t been following this topic for the past several years:

The amazing thing (to me) is that the author is Rep. John Linder. Representative John Linder (R-GA) sits on the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Waxman-Markey bill, jurisdiction over the Boxer-Kerry bill should it pass in the Senate, and authority over all carbon taxes generally. So here we have it – a congressman who gets it!! Praise the Lord!

"Slowly and mostly unnoticed by the major news media"...

is entirely to kind.
The temperature shift might have been “slow”, but only in human terms.
Bbut to call the mass media’s failure to “notice” the change is laughable.

AGW and the boy who cried wolf

scottbomb (Diary) Monday, December 7th at 2:00AM EST (link)

I can’t help but wonder how much this AGW hoax will end up hurting the credibility of the scientific community. In the long run, probably not much. After all, the “consensus” of the “world’s best scientists” all knew the world was flat before some bufoon named Chris Columbus came along and proved them wrong. Nevertheless, the time in which we live is our own and we will suffer the consequences of their actions, as well as the laughter of future generations.

On the other hand, the layman in me (in conjunction with the science student within) doesn’t expect Algore and Company to go away any time soon. I hope I’m wrong, but from what I’ve read, the 11-year sunspot cycle has something to do with Earth’s temperatures. If this is true, then we can expect temperatures to go up a little bit over the next 6 or 7 years. We’re currently at the bottom of an unusually long bottom in the sunspot cycle (unusual in the context that we have sunspot records that span only 200 years or so). If this hypothesis is true, then temperatures will rise again (albeit ever so slightly) once they pick up in numbers. Just enough to put Algore back in business?

My father’s generation would have laughed out loud if anyone had been foolish enough to propose that Automobile exhausts were causing the planet’s temperature to rise.

Unfortunately, generations of public school graduates, who have not only not been taught to think for themselves, but who have been brainwashed w/phoney dying polar bear pictures, swallowed this nonesense hook, line and sinker.

Good Job NEA and AFT.

BTW, the next trend is global cooling. For a meager donation of $100, I will send you photos of polar bears who are very, very COLD!!
