Thanks to the noted Republican's above Dem's got their vote an now Hamilton is in. Funny how that happens when you have such a big majority. I guess those folks that got weak-knees on the cloture vote think we can't figure this stuff out.

Oh, I know Lugar is the only Republican that actually voted for him (by the way Mr. Independent- Lieberman voted yes also) but the notorious bunch of fools listed above allowed it to happen.

Alexander's office said he will vote NO on Hamilton - good news, after he voted YES on the motion to proceed...

Corker's office said he had not released a statement on how he would be voting, but that she would pass my plea for a "no" vote along to him. He voted NO on the motion to proceed, so hopefully will vote no on the confirmation as well.

Former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R. AZ) has a daily three hour radio program here in Phoenix on KFYI AM 550. He's asked this question occasionally and he tells his audience that, for him, the most effective way for a constituent to make an impression on him while he was in his DC office was to either call his office or fax his office.

I make phone calls and, if the phones are jammed, I then send a fax. Since 9-11-2001, as you know, "snail mail" letters have to go through a security mail screening before they are delivered to the congresscritters, so there's a time lag that's even longer than otherwise. Thus, it is best to fax a copy of any letter you might also want to have sent by the U.S. Mail.

I use Efax for sending faxes. Goes straight from my PC over the net to any fax phone number.

As J.D. explains, the nice thing about faxes is that some congresscritters still print them all out, whereas e-mails might never get printed and, therefore, might be less likely to be read.

Perhaps someone with congresscritter office experience could chime in with their thoughts?

Thank you.

I called Casey's Washington, and Philadelphia office. Both places I got a message that said they were busy and their voicemail system was full.

Spector's person took my message, would not tell me what he was going to vote, and she said that she was getting 50/50 calls for pro and con on Hamilton. Not sure I believe her but at least I got some one to take a message.

She was just reelected last year and does whatever she can to pass anything Obama desires, despite the fact that Louisianans oppose the bills. She has 5 more years before she is up for reelection and she's made it clear she doesn't care what her constituents want.
