I would demand that all of the "we'll leave the final details to a follow-up commission" instead be included in the final bill. I want to know specifically what a gov't-approved health insurance policy must cover. Right now, all these "little" details are being left to non-existent committees in the future. I need to know what these details are NOW.

The bill will grow to over 3,000 pages, but we Americans need to know what is being inflicted on us up front.

I would expect that Liebermann won't go to a Saturday session at all, except for a true, life-threatening emergency (such as Iran attacked the US and we had to have Congress declare war on Iran). For a strictly-observing Jew, one cannot take a ride in a vehicle driven by another. He can't even ride in an elevator. No doing work, or using anything that does work. So he would not be able to attend any sessions to vote. Without a Liebermann 'yes' vote, the Dems don't have enough votes to override a filibuster. And that's assuming he would even be a 'yes', not at all a given.

But I find it ridiculous that the only time they seem to read the damn things is when they're *not* playing nice together. If they'd given a real damn for the last few decades, this country would be thriving as it deserves to be.

Senator Coburn deserves unlimited praise for forcing the reading of this bill. It will tie up the Senate for months - estimates are 6-12 months - which will effectively do two things:

1. Bring the yes/no vote much closer to the 2010 elections which will make many of the Dims - especially the blue dog Dims - think twice about voting for it

2. They won't be able to bring up any other socialistic horrors - like Crap & Tax - because the Senate rules are that everything must stop while a bill is being read aloud

God bless Senator Coburn!

Yesterday, Copenhagen. Today Senator Coburn. Yeee-ha!

Does Lieberman take the bus? Or have "James" drive him?

(I may have just answered my own question - maybe "James" drives him all the time anyway).

Arkansas supported McCain 59% to 39% in the November elections. If the vote were held today the result would likely be even more lopsided and Lincoln knows it. Arkansans overwhelmingly oppose Obamacare and Lincoln knows that too. If she votes for this bill I want to see an investigation launched into her finances and post Congressional career. The only reason she would have to vote for this unconstitutional takeover is in the expectation of a big payoff after she loses her seat next Nov. There is simply no other reason to not vote the way your constituents demand you vote. I've written to teh WSJ and the Arkansas Democrat Gazette demanding Lincoln be investigated if she supports this monstrosity. I'm in the county GOP here in AR and know several of the GOP candidates planning to run against Lincoln next year and will ask them to bring this up in their ads against her.

because he's ultra serious about keeping the Jewish sabbath. I'm not Jewish and am not nearly so strict about the sabbath - but any man that serious about his faith isn't somebody who's likely to give into pressure or intimidation.

I have high hopes that Joe Lieberman will stick to his guns if he's formed a definite conviction against this bill.

It just means that Reid will have to come up with a Senate version and then schedule another vote to proceed.

But it will slow things down and force Reid to come up with a bill before debate starts - which means that people will have an opportunity to examine it in daylight.

"Under the unique rules of the United States Senate, a member of the body may insist legislation actually be read before a vote is cast on the legislation."

Senators should be forced to read every bill. It's ridiculous that we have elected representatives routinely passing legislation about which they have no clue.

Kudos to Coburn!
