I'm talking about a scale from far left liberal to far right Conservative, ( Your talking about whether they represent their constituency like Snowe and Collins in Maine which the fit...vs Kay Baily in Texas which she clearly doesn't.

Many of us vote for her consistently because she's not in our faces when she leaves the reservation on us...but what she's done in 2000, 2004, and now is destructive and she needs to be called on it!

Maine is a +18 Obama state. Complain all you want, but they still vote in accord or slightly to the Right of their constituents. Getting two Senators in a +18 Obama state to vote against ObamaCare is plus.

Texas is a conservative state. KBH's voting record is in accord or slightly to the Left of her constituents. That is the mark of a true RINO. It takes couraqge to vote conservative and risk your poltiical career in Northeast. Its doesnt in Texas or Utah. KBH and Bennet are pathetic compared to someone like Mitt Romney, who ran a center-right administration is the most liberal state in the country.

Texas should have two conservative giants in the Senate. They should have the Right's Ted Kennedy. Instead they give us Coryn and KBH.

So...if she wins the primary...then Williams get's a shot...but the takes out a successful conservative governor. if she doesn't beat Perry in the Primary...she keeps her seat leaving Williams and all of us who have put so much effort into this hanging in the lurch....

As I see it...no matter what happens...the Texas GOP takes it in the rear...and the only one that can benefit is Kay!

Collins.

She's not a rock ribbed conservative but she's not quite a RINO either. Luke Warm is the term I'd use for her.

That said...she's mucked things up for the party one time too many and I hope you're right that Williams will challenge her anyway. and I don't think the party should back her either..but I'll bet they will.

This needs to be done in the back rooms...she needs to be told she's had her last opportunity to pull this crap and the money just won't be there for her if she doesn't step aside and make room for Williams.

Normally I'd be against such dealings...but she's screwed too many people over the last 9 years or to be entitled to any loyalty....incumbent or not.

As I said above...I don't know what extent her shenanigans played in defeating Henry Bonilla...his seat is now held by a Democrat, (I'm sure redistricting had a part in it's loss)...but it couldn't have helped that the last time Henry ran...his whole campaign was set for a Senate run and he had to switch back to a run for the house when Kay pulled a switch after signaling a run for Gov.

Like I said above, there is no race if she doesn't resign. The next regular election for KBH's seat is in 2012, so that would be Williams' earliest opportunity if she stays put. And if she runs for re-election in '12 that gives Williams an even steeper hill to climb, as it ain't easy to successfully primary an incumbent senator no matter how ridiculous she is.

I thought she'd announced officially she wasn't resigning...If I have to read into what she's saying is...she wants to hold onto her Senate Seat if she doesn't beat Perry in the Primaries?

I mean...if you're not committed to running for governor...then don't run for Pete's sake. and stop signalling you're going to do something till you've made up your mind to do it...like I said...this is 3 times now she's made a false start and thrown down ticket candidates through the ringer. I can't say she was the reason Henry Bonilla lost when he did...but it couldn't have helped to have his campaign thinking Senate run right up to the last minute...and that's Kay's fault...

Like I said...she should be politely asked to retire and spare us any more of this foolishness!

If she doesn’t resign her seat then there won’t be any election for it next year, which, as you say, leaves all of these people who have ramped up campaigns twisting in the wind.

What a mess this woman has made.

I couldn't have said it better...and I'll say it again for emphasis...this is the THIRD time she's pulled this crap....it's beyond infuriating!

Now I'm hearing that she'll resign after the primaries, but if she's going to quit her office whether or not she gets the Gov nomination then why the hell not just do it now?

And why the hell would she make herself look even more opportunistic and weak by floating this news in the first place, when according to one poll she's already trailing Perry by ten points?

I'm of a mind the Texas GOP needs to invite Kay to Retire...this is the third time she's done this and screwed good people every time!

and I hope Williams takes her on anyway...he's already ramped up his campaign...I think she'd be vulnerable because she's proven her indecisiveness...he could use it a s a cudgel to get her out of the way...and I'd say GOOD RIDDANCE!!

See my other post - I called this back before even KBH knew she'd have to go this route.

I think this is good for the GOP - we avoided multiple trainwrecks at once.

http://travismonitor.blogspot.com/2009/11/big-un-bombshell-kbh-to-hold-on-senate.html

Those who think this is bad for conservatives have it wrong.

First, we need KBH's vote in DC right now, we cant afford a single Republican off the bench.

Second, KBH is behind in the primaries. I predicted she wouldn't resign because I predicted Perry would lead the primary and win. This is KBH's acknowledging that. If anything, not resigning make's it easier to vote for Perry, as GOP voters 'play it safe' and not let the Dems mess with us (Sharp and White were raising money for US Senate runs).

The Dems have a WEAK WEAK Gov field. Whoever wins on GOP side is a shoo-in in November.

I would add that KBH will leave the senate in 2012 when her term ends. She may then make a run in 2014 or retire.

THIS IS BAD FOR THE TEXAS DEMOCRATS WHO WERE AIMING FOR THE US SENATE RACE. Also a LOT OF GOP MONEY NOW CAN FOCUS ON TEXAS HOUSE RACES instead of getting eaten up by several crazy races at the state-level. With a full plate of GOP incumbents and a GOP wave year, the Dems are toast in Texas in 2010...

If we re-nominated Gov Rick Perry, which is the better conservative choice right now, then TEXAS GOP CAN FOCUS ON TEXAS HOUSE AND SENATE RACES ... and defeating lib Dem US Reps Chet Edwards, Lloyd Doggett, Gene Green and Ciro Rodriguez. We have a LOT of opportunities to focus on and one less US Senate seat to defend and to worry about is good for us.

2012 may see another shot by the Dems at the Senate seat... we shall see. They tried in 2002 and it didnt go well.

Bottom line: THIS IS GOOD NEWS FOR THE TEXAS GOP. We avoided a GOP trainwreck of multiple crazy races. The Dems are going to get KO'd in 2010 here.

Second, KBH is behind in the primaries. I predicted she wouldn’t resign because I predicted Perry would lead the primary and win. This is KBH’s acknowledging that. If anything, not resigning make’s it easier to vote for Perry, as GOP voters ‘play it safe’ and not let the Dems mess with us (Sharp and White were raising money for US Senate runs).

With a full plate of GOP incumbents and a GOP wave year, the Dems are toast in Texas in 2010…

If we re-nominated Gov Rick Perry, which is the better conservative choice right now, then TEXAS GOP CAN FOCUS ON TEXAS HOUSE AND SENATE RACES … and defeating lib Dem US Reps Chet Edwards, Lloyd Doggett, Gene Green and Ciro Rodriguez. We have a LOT of opportunities to focus on and one less US Senate seat to defend and to worry about is good for us.

2012 may see another shot by the Dems at the Senate seat… we shall see. They tried in 2002 and it didnt go well.

Bottom line: THIS IS GOOD NEWS FOR THE TEXAS GOP. We avoided a GOP trainwreck of multiple crazy races. The Dems are going to get KO’d in 2010 here.

She said that she will not resign her seat until after the March '10 primaries. In other words, she's covering all bets - as she is coming to realize that being a Conservative and being a Republican ain't necessarily the same thing these days. She could very easily be out of a job if she resigns too early.

So we will have a do-nothing Senator for the primary season. Oh well, what else is new?

By the way, Houston (soon to be ex-) mayor Bill White is now contemplating a run for the Senate instead of the Governorship.

I'm not a fan of one-foot-in-the-boat candidacies. It radiates the lack of character, lack of confidence, and risk averseness of the politician. That's not what I look for in office holders and there are already enough of them in the senate: McCain and Kerry. If Virginia is the campaign model the GOP is to follow in 2010, then GOP candidates should remember that Bob McDonnell resigned as attorney general 9 months before the election. Things worked out pretty well for him AND THE GOP CANDIDATES FOR DOWN-TICKET OFFICES.

She is afraid to be out so she won't do the right thing and get out of the way. She knows she will probably lose and be unemployed... which wouldn't be a bad thing.

and a primary battle with Rick Perry is not a sure thing. She'd do a better job if it was here vs Patti Radle as the Democrat nominee(not very likely since she only likes San Antonio city Council Races).

or course she like to have a sure thing and running against Perry now isn't a sure thing. I'm sure that KBH would love to have Radnowsky(sp?) to run against here so she can clean up real good.

that's nice, but his immigration stance of late is going to cause some problems with the Leftest Democratic Party of Texas. The Harris County Democratic Party is a polar opposite of the Harris County Republican Party.
