MILLER CALLS ON GREER TO RESIGN AS FLORIDA GOP CHAIRMAN

Congressman Jeff Miller (R-FL-01) issued the following statement today:

“Jim Greer has shown on numerous occasions that he is incapable of running the Republican party of Florida (RPOF) and refuses to remain neutral in contested primaries. Mr. Greer has failed at managing the financial, political, and public relations aspects of the state party.

The latest scandal involving a RPOF operative and the use of a fake Twitter account to disparage a duly elected county Chairman is just another in a long list of management failures. Further, Greer has shown a bias in the primary of the United States Senate Seat in publically supporting Governor Crist and has repeatedly ignored calls from county party organizations for neutrality. This behavior is inexcusable and Florida Republicans deserve better.

At a time when Republicans across the country are energizing and unifying to defeat the Democrats in 2010, Greer is dividing and deflating Republicans in Florida.

I call on Mr. Greer to resign as Chairman of the RPOF.”

In regular elections with primaries, that’s not the case, and third party runs become the product of sour grapes whiners.

Nobody wants to be one of those like the Ronulans who backed Bob Barr.

Most states don’t work that way, so in most states that plan can’t and won’t work.

So far, in straw polls among the most “highly motivated” Republicans in 12 County GOP straw polls, Rubio has smoked Charlie Crist in every one. If he loses in Pinellas (his home county) I do not know how Crist can justify staying in, 4.3 million dollars notwithstanding.

If the FEC opens and investigation (not likely due to the administrations liking of Crist, he would be done for sure. This is the crassest, most inept, sordid attempt to fight back I have seen in a long, time…from a Republican.

Let me come up with a quick parable:

Friend: “Geez, Jack – what happened to you?”
Jack: “Got sucker punched at a Redskins game, then beaten nearly to death while I was on the ground.”

J: “Yep – standing right beside me.”

J: “Nothing”

J: “No, no – he’s not bad. He’s on my side 70% of the time.”

So he was once pretty conservative, but the last few years his numbers are barely better than Specter’s. Through 2002 his lifetime ACU rating was 81. He’s been softening as time has gone on.

I guess you could say he has “grown” into the perfect NRSC candidate, since their goal seems to be an ACU rating of 50.

I don’t equate him in the details with Chafee. But I do pile them both in the same “utterly worthless to the Party and movement” trashbin.

That’s not an insult, that’s just the facts.

But you can do your own homework.

I’ll give you one hint though: Voinovich’s ACU ratings are DOUBLE what Chafees were. DOUBLE.

For what it’s worth, I totally agree that Voinovich was wrong on Bolton, who I consider not only to be a one of the best foreign policy minds in the world, but a hero.

But you don’t win often if you castigate as being no better then the enemy a guy who’s on your side 70% of the time.
