I guess you could interepret that comment to be about you, but I read it to mean that not all Republicans need to fit in in the south–yhat there is a different brand of Republcanism in the northeast.

Given Scozzafava’s history of attacking pretty much anyone who would normally be at least somewhat friendly to her (re:911 on weekly standard) you can’t totally count that out.

But it’s a good thing from my perspective. No pain, no gain.

What could you possibly know about NY-23? I mean, do you really think fiscal irresponsibility, high taxes, high unemployment, liberal social programs, declining population and failing schools are ubiquitous electoral issues? Oh, wait that is only in state’s where the Democrats have control. My mistake.

Crimeny, Scozzafava sounds like every other politician in D.C. and Lord knows those folks are uniquely popular with us folks in NY. Yeah. Right.

Why doesn’t Matt take a trip to one of the local unemployment offices and perform his own official poll?

…but also, Georgia is a state that northeastern liberals particularly fixate on, as a hotbed of Neanderthal backwater Southerners that the Matt Burns and DeDe Scozzafavas of the world are so far above.

‘Course, last I heard, Georgia was growing and thriving while people were falling all over themselves trying to get out of New York.

Another glimpse into the character of Scozzafava, and another reason why she should (and, thankfully, will) lose.

“Her positions on a lot of issues are reflective of the electorate here,” said Matt Burns, a Scozzafava spokesman.

A lot of issues? I would imagine that any well-educated grapefruit would have the same opinion on a lot of issues with the people of NY-23, but also would differ on some few issues, like gun control, abortion, and some minor economic concerns such as the people might have.

“are reflective of” rather than “reflect”. This might just be spoxish, or it could be a recognition of the fact that Dede’s opinions are really sort of more unlike those of her neighbors and more like those of Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama.

“If the idea is that every Republican that runs for office needs [to be] someone who fits in Georgia, then it’s going to be very, very difficult for Republicans to gain a majority in the House of Representatives.”

Straw Man much? Not every Republican needs to fit in Georgia. But every Republican running in NY-23 needs to fit in NY-23.

Not so well when you’re talking about fiscal issues because I’d be willing to be that yankees are as fiscally consewrvative as the rest of the country…

We’re letting the left wing of this party obfuscate and taking our eye off the ball…

When we moved from Ohio to MA in 2004, I thought my connections to the conservative movement were over. Imagine how thrilled I am, after hosting two Tea Parties on the Boston Common, to have found so many wanting to join our cause. Conservatives are not extinct in new England, they have just been afraid to come out into the light.

Thank you, Barack Obama, for being such a despicable human being, for threatening us and our children with a century of servitude to the government, for bringing the reprehensible philosophy of the Left into the daylight and showing it to the world. There is no rational reason why he refuses to foreclose the issue with the release of legitimate proof.

LIKEWISE, there is no rational excuse for a citizen not to demand such proof.

my lowly belief of what the Republican party should represent isn’t as sophisticated as a New Yorker’s. What I do know is this, if the Republican Party has to use folks like Scozzafava in order to win a majority, then I don’t feel a need to support them. Yeah, I just restated a few weeks worth of posts, but I’m really tired of folks telling folks from the South and the “flyover” country here in KC that we aren’t sophisticated enough to make decisions for government. When my party starts treating me the same way the left elites do, it’s time to go.

I don’t remember who it was who quipped that Pennsylvania was Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and Georgia in between, but they were right. The Northeastern states are, statewide, very liberal, but upstate NY is farm and rural country and politically resembles Georgia just as much as it resembles NYC.

If Newt is this great conservative why is he willing to continue to play these games. There is no leaning to the left, or a tad to the right , or just a tinge to the center. An apple is an apple not part orange or grape, it is an apple. A conservative is a conservative not a center right conservative, big tent conservative, not a liberal conservative but a conservative. It would be like saying I am part Christian and a little bit Buddhist and a touch of Hindu or Muslim, no I am Christian period.
Newt is aware of the problems in the Republican party and he endorsed one of them. He should, if he had the nads, go tell Scuzzy to get out and put support with the real conservative like he claims to be. No change is going to take place in the Republican party as long as they enjoy playing the game. I am sick of the game, I want what a person says they are not what they might be. Sorry I am not real good at blogging but I am real good at recognizing B.S. before I step in it.
