He'res the question in a nut shel:

How do you appeal to voters looking for an alternative to the Democrats by acting like a Democrat?

I'll be waiting

"Above all, a defeat would teach Republicans that running candidates who believe in nothing will keep them in the minority for years to come."

I live in this politically dysfunctional state. Most Republicans in NY would be considered moderate Democrats (for Democrats) elsewhere. Most Democrats would be considered socialists, except for those who would be institutionalized as insane.

Scozzafava is not that unusual.

I read an article this morning on NRO where one of the GOP members in her district, that appointed her as the R candidate, said he wasn't sold on her even before she was choosen, and, now he has come out publically and stated that it was a terrible mistake to make her the candidate. (Just tried to link article but it is gone). There is another article there now, by Mark Steyn, where he states that he is with Fred Thompson, in that a 3rd party conservative can win in NY 23rd. I hope that means that Thompson is directing some of his PAC monies to Hoffman. Styne asks Gingrich to rethink his endorsement of Scozza, but, that is unlikely. Gingrich has done a terrific job at making himself irrelevant, and, he has become just one more elitist has-been Republican. I questioned him last year, during the primaries, when he was contemplating getting into the race. On Hannity's radio show he made the remark that "the era of Reagan is over." Then, he sits on the couch with San Fran Nan, and agrees Global Warming is real. Now, he supports a Liberal, even to the left of Obama on some issues. Thank you God he is not in the House or Senate where he could be doing real damage with his votes, rather than just his voice.

Gingrich, McCain, Graham, Snowe, Collins et al need to be steamrolled over by even those Republicans that don't consider themselves conservatives. God help those that refused to even consider who even Rush considered the "only conservative in the race" Fred Thompson. Imagine where the US would be now, had he become the president, rather than who we do have.
