In Which I Am Validated By the Left as a Consequential and Influential Person

As I mentioned earlier today, Talking Points Memo intended to do a hit job on me and I failed to cooperate.

Their reporter, who used to write obituaries and cover corn dog eating contests for a small newspaper, decided she wanted to be an activist and left for pastures further left.

Today, after I failed to cooperate, TPM released its hit job in which they revealed I did incendiary things like quote Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright, combat unions, and play the Left’s own “Hitler game” against them.

Shudder.

It actually makes for a humorous read on the level of an 8th grader’s first draft essay attempt at being salacious.

I am flattered though. It’s always nice to be validated by your political opponents as someone they need to attack.

What’s so funny is that most of the stuff the gal wrote is really only awful stuff if your presupposition in life really is that America is a loathsome place in need of a total makeover and all its defenders are loathsome too.

I’m sure there’ll be more of these in the future.

About that picture

SteveLA (Diary) Thursday, October 15th at 10:55PM EST (link)

Geesh Erick what is with that picture, or rather where did it come from? Screen capture from PBS if the bug in the lower right corner means anything. I mean, that’s not even a scary shot of you or anything..nice haircut though….:)

Oh yea the article…does this hack get paid by the word or what? If she does, she’s overpaid at 1 cent a word.

either that, or the scary responsible authoritative conservative look (OMG he’s wearing a suit! Scary!), would be my guess. And yes, the haircut is quite dashing.

TPM?

I love your snark. You know, I actually had to look up what Talking Points Memo was… guess I’d never heard it it because it’s an irrelevant HuffPo knock-off with a bunch of washed-up hack writers.

But I digress.

Congrats Erick, you're one step closer to the spotlight...

DONTREADONME (Diary) Thursday, October 15th at 11:09PM EST (link)

also I refuse to read that article about you, I know everything I need to know from your writing and public appearances. Also, one step closer to Rush, yes i know that’s one heck of a huge fligth of stairs to climb.

It's actually pretty good

It reads essentially “and the big meanie saw through our attempt twist his words into cruel mockery useful for our own purposes”

Congratulations on being worthy enough for a Lefty attack article to be written about you.

Suggestions concernig goats, talk of defecating in public, what is it they call us? Inbred, moronic and more? Wooooo makes me want to engage them in some intelligent conversation like: @%Q%@#% off you stupid @%$#$%#@#.

I say we just stand aside and let them go, eventually they will abort themselves out of existance and we can clean up the rest with a few well placed rounds.

When all else fails…….. Shoot!

I made the mistake

panthera (Diary) Thursday, October 15th at 11:19PM EST (link)

of clicking on the link to read the article. Barf at the comments. It makes me wonder how some people make it through life. I’d bet these lefties would be at a loss for words if they couldnt say vile things. Better yet, take foul language out and it would be crickets.

It just reaffirms my position and that I am at the right site. (no pun intended)

Erick keep up the great work!

To Say they Hate

jimmuy8 (Diary) Thursday, October 15th at 11:35PM EST (link)

diminishes the word hate.

Seriously. I can’t think of a word that properly describes the level of hate the core leftists have for–what should be–their fellow Americans. The dehumanization necessary just to get into the door of their club is scary enough.

Thank goodness we have so many “conservatives who matter” in the party who are willing to compromise with them . . . . and seek their praises.

In all cultures, youngsters fantasize about saving the world

from Godzilla, aliens from outer space, or some threat/villain whose vanquishing would qualify the youngster as a member of the League of Justice or some other super-hero organization.

By college, this little fantasy is quite often still alive, albeit in an evolved form of “changing the world”.

Eventually, most grownups realize that it ain’t all that bad. The two problems with teaching a frog to sing is that 1) it’s nearly impossible and 2) it annoys the frog. I don’t want to be saved from the Left’s Boogeymen. I want to be free to improve my own life on my own terms.

Stop making my life worse with this Hope & Change baloney.

Taking a trip through the site was something of a learning experience

aesthete (Diary) Thursday, October 15th at 11:45PM EST (link)

For instance, there’s this little gem (http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/10/fourth-grader-to-obama-why-does-everyone-hate-you.php?ref=mp) which rather disturbingly implies (through the lips of a child, no less) that we should love Obama (unless you can find any other reason that they would post that story and write it in that way).

As bad as I sometimes think Republicans and conservative voices in the media can be, I can at least be happy that the standard that the TPM sets is a bar that we’ll never trip over, much less have to beat.

“Who’s up next?”

“Some guy at redstate.”

“Racist?”

“Obviously; you know he’s from Georgia.”

“Should we run with the FBI files that Barry sent over?”

“No, let’s save it in case he runs for Congress. That story about his third grade teacher — freaking priceless.”

“I’ll fire up the quote generator…”

“Ahh, maybe too soon.”

(sound of face smacking into door, rocking it open, as our heroin enters)

“Ow! Ohh, ohh — Erin, uhh, Erickguy — racist whatever — he once said, like… Ohh, hey — I brought Starbucks. I love Starbucks. Oh, and Matt Daemon (hot-teee). Oh, what? Oh yeah, he tweeted, like, something that looks… Ummm, I think it’s mean, but I can’t, like, umm, read all of the big words, I mean, except for ******* obviously.”

“Yes, jackpot! This is an unkind statement about Souter’s perfectly healthy (and not abnormal at all) personal proclivities! Write it up, intern — you’ve earned it!”

“Starbucks — yay! Wait, what? You want me to actually write something? I was told this was just about ***.”

It's easy to tell

livefreenh Friday, October 16th at 2:37PM EST (link)

If you can skip past their point (if they ever make one) you can tell a liberal post: it’s ad hominem (something about goats, or parents, or Macon, GA (?)), it deflects from the main issue (“our country needs a [sic] opposition party”), they marginalize their opponents by labeling them with cute nicknames (birthers, teabaggers) and they re-define the meaning of words (“it depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.”).

I remember a friend of mine in high school who was on the debating team. His assignment was to debate one side of an argument which was laughably improbable. He had to resort to name-calling. It must be what it’s like to be a liberal.

It doesn’t excuse what they do, but at least we know why they act that way.
