Could you instruct your webmaster to eliminate all posts that are just sniping at another person who is posting?

Could we please use this posting section for the discussion of ideas? Some of the intelligent people on this website have allowed themselves to do exactly what the libs do – attack the person instead of their ideas. If someone doesn’t have a useful rebuttal to make regarding the content of the post, he shouldn’t be taking up space here.

I have no interest in reading what one person on this point thinks of another person – I’m only interested in the ideas. I’m new here, and I don’t have time to wade through the food fights – I want to learn about the issues.

Also, is it true you don’t need to live in the district to rep it? During the NY-20 race lastspring, I remember hearing that the Republican didn’t actually live in the 20th.

In most of The West, the federal government is simply an occupying power. When statehood was conferred all the lands in the territories should have been conferred to the newly formed states but the federal government retain much, most in some, of the land. Less than a third of the land mass marked Alaska on your map is the State of Alaska; the rest is federal or Indian land. Almost 85% of Nevada belongs to the federal government. Public lands were once available for the common good as range land, commercial forests, mining and oil provinces, etc. They now are truly the King’s Forest not only off limits to development but off limits to all but the very well-heeled. My State is touted as having American’s wilderness crown jewels, but most of Alaska’s wilderness grandeur will never be seen by any but bureaucrats and the very rich.

As to the poster’s point about government devalueling land, it is done constantly. All it takes is a whisper of an eagle’s nest or some other critter or a bog that could be considered a wet land, and your land has just become worthless.
