Tell the cops they can have a 50 year contract. Their compensation will increase equal to the CPI every year that the cities tax revenue increase meets or exceeds the CPI. They can have the compensation increase in the form of cash, benefits or deposit into their 401(k).

Tell them if they don’t accept the offer, you’ll take it to a referendum and see if the taxpayers think it’s a fair deal.

I know that polls showed opinions of unions in general were way down after the thuggish antics and outright violence and intimidation at numerous town halls. They’ve earned the public’s enmity.

If so, it might not be a bad idea if you become Mayor. These guys don’t realize that weapons can be used on them.

Like I said, FOP is a police union. Not a corrupt leftist organization. They work for the police and many reps are former officers.

Not all unions are equal. Erick should work hard to turn the officers away from SEIU. How in the world does a janitor fit with a police officer in the challenges they both meet at work? SEIU is not a good fit for anyone, and especially not for a police department.

The SEIU is now targeting you, and I have seen at least three RedState references in today’s issue of the Washington Times. The first one was quoting you about the nominal Republican in the NY special election. The second one was quoting Vlad’s Michael Moore posting in one of the snippets collections, although they opted to cut “the fat jokes” (because of which they didn’t list the one I thought was best: our medical system will likely save him from his inevitable heart attack). I forget which snippet was the third, but it is there if anybody wants to go look for it.

I’ll admit the game is a little different in Georgia where the unions have little in the way of legal rights, but you’ve personified the battle for them; see, Alinsky, Saul. I’d have invited the leadership personalities in for a cup of coffee and some “come to Jesus.” You admitted that their pay, conditions, and supervision sucked. Why don’t you be the union president and fix it for them? Let the Democrats suck that egg for awhile.

I worked with unions that did have strong legal rights. The best way I found to arrive at some understanding was my taking a very firm public and official position and then inviting some leadership personalities out on my boat; drinks and entertainment on me.
