First, to Joey. For every agnostic or atheist who has made a significant contribution to humanity, I’ll cite you ten who are (were) Christian. Also, CA is broke because of confiscatory taxes and a crushing regulatory climate, not to mention enviro-whacko induced short-sightedness on energy development (CA buys much of its’ energy from us rednecks.)

Second, to Doug. We probably lost the Olymoic bid due to Obambi’s foolish and dangerous slight of Poland. Who exactly is un-American again?

Third, to Dean. Name ten positive contributions made to this country by Dems in the last ten years.

Four, to Nikki. “Get over it and start sounding like you love your country or get out.” Now where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, when you leftist clowns pulled your initially strong support for the war in Iraq and turned your back on our troopers so you could bash Bush and curry some short-term political gain. When we told you to “love it or leave it” you called us fascists and claimed that spirited debate was the soul of democracy.

National commentators have mentioned this and I agree. The larger danger is the US media. Obama is almost entirely their creation. Perhaps he believed what they built him up to be and hence misjudged his ability by setting up a White House Olympic office and the rest of it. When I was much younger, I would take the NY Times list of endorsements into a voting booth and pull the lever for whatever name they gave. I thought I was hip and smart to do so. Even this talking point about whether it’s mean to be happy Obama failed is a leftist creation-I read it in Newsweek.

I’ve noticed the same thing. No matter what hard evidence you have to back up your arguments most of them are so adamant to make you look like the fool that, when all else fails, then the name-calling ensues. Which, of course, then that maks them look the fool but sadly they think they just scored major points by making slurs against your ancestry and personal habits. They really think that giving you a good cussin’ wins the argument, as the letters Erick has posted shows. God forbid you ask them to dial it back and try to continue the discussion without the vitriol.

That’s not all of them but sadly it does describe most that I’ve encountered.

And which party was it again, that was the pro-slavery party?

I figured Erick would have discovered that a while ago.

I’ve only become politically engaged in the last 6 – 8 years but realized years ago the hypocisy of the left after debating with liberals and similarly minded people. I was quite naive and believed I could win most any argument by logical persuasion. How silly of me to believe that I could use facts and logic to make my point. I was always amazed that these people could change the subject on a dime and use imaginary claims to support their positions.

Of course, when all else failed to deter my argument, they would call me names, accuse me of ignorance and begin the name calling. This pattern is probably the only standard that liberals have.

because it seems I remember refrains of that same sentiment for the past 8 years being met with screeches of how patriotic it was to debate and disagree with any administration.

I’m increasingly coming away with how incredibly short a view of history the left has.
