I appreciate that Chuck respects Republicans and often feels they make “sound, educated, well-thought out arguments.” In the case of the 2016 Olympics, we are not joyous for Obama’s humiliation or lack of win, per se, and we’re certainly not unpatriotic for not wanting the Olympics to be in America. What we are happy about — and this exuberance reflects that happiness — is that Chicago thug politics didn’t win, that pay-for-play arm twisting finally lost, that taxpayers local and national won’t be called upon for the bailout, and that the countless Chicago cronies who have taken over the White House and its administration won’t profit personally or otherwise from the Olympic “win.” Our joy is that simple…

Your relationship with conservatives is the same as your party’s relationship to war. You’re in favor of fighting any war, as long as it’s not the war we’re actually involved in. You’re able to have intelligent discussions with conservatives as long as it’s not the conservative you are conversing with at the moment.

I think America won by losing the Olympic bid. The only beneficiaries would have been the corrupt city government of Chicago and their cronies. Americans would have been paying through the nose with “stimulus money” to build the sites for the events and would not have gotten anything in return.

Most people who call themselves “Conservative” oppose the policies being pursued by Obama for all kinds of reasons: they won’t work, they’ll do affirmative harm, the numbers don’t add up, the numbers never CAN add up, they’ll put future generations at risk, etc.

Your side didn’t support Bush when he pursued policies you opposed; you didn’t support Reagan when he pursued policies you opposed. A President isn’t royalty – no, not even Obama.

Any harm done to the United States image, etc. was done by the Obamas amateurish attempt to Big Foot the situation. Now, conservatives would have preferred he not do that – - – but he doesn’t listen to us much.

The “upside” in all of this is that the Obama’s self-inflicted credibility & “gravitas” injury should make it a bit more difficult for him to enact those policies we oppose. Which, because we oppose those policies, is a GOOD thing.

There is, therefore, a silver lining to the cloud of “Rio Olympiad” – we’re just choosing to be optimistic!

I find it ironic that while mr. barkey considered erik closed minded he does so by making a sexist comment suggesting that the lowest of the species is a crying young girl.
