suffered a billion dollar loss when the games were held there. I think it was a billion. At anyrate, it was a huge sum of money. No, Brooke, it would not have been necessarily a boost to our economy in the aftermath.

bailing out Chicago. The cost overruns typical for the Olympics, no matter where they are held, would have only been compounded a hundred-fold. Their graft and corruption would have added a huge debt. And then WE would have been bailing out Chicago.

I hope today’s announcement denying Obama and his Chicagoland associates thugs the 2016 Olympics is just the tip of the FAILURE iceberg. The more Obama and his administration fail the better off the American people will be in the future.

But I guarantee you that nobody I know would have. It’s a pay to play town where almost every cost estimate is 20% of what it really costs the tax payers. I would have loved to see the Olympics in my home town but not at any cost. Whatever our policriminals tell you, they are lying. They will stick it to us when we aren’t looking. That’s how Chicago Politics work. Look at my right hand but don’t pay attention to the left.

So, Hurray that our President came through for us! You saved us quite a bit of money and hassle. Oh, and don’t forget the parking!

Despite Obama being big-time involved and Chicago being insanely corrupt by US standards, the only reason to go with Rio over Chicago was pure symbolism (Madrid was another matter; the Spanish are almost as crazy about sports as we Americans, and will actually use most of what’s built for the Games in the long run, with high-level local soccer and basketball teams). The fact remains that the Games make money in the US and do not elsewhere. When staged in relatively poor countries with very narrow sports interests where darn near everything is going to have to be built special for the Games, they lose a lot of money,
