To: contact@redstate.comI surely hope you and all of your loved ones are employed and are not in danger of being laid off. You are really cheering the failure of Chicago to be the site of the Olympics–something that could have been an enormous stimulus to our economy–as a GOOD thing? It is really more important that Obama’s “ego” be deflated than for good to come to the people who need it? Shame on you, Erick, and Shame on your “followers” for being so ridiculously BACKWARDS. Obama fails, YOU fail.
Never mind that the Olympics wouldn’t be coming until 2016 and, even with construction, there would be no immediate stimulus to our economy.
And never mind that many studies show public spending on the Olympics causes a long term net loss of money.

Steph C (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 12:23PM EST (link)She apparently has internet access, more than likely has a blackberry, a flat screen TV, and assorted other luxuries that I don’t have because I’m busy trying to preserve what little has been left to me since liberal policies have allowed illegal aliens to take over my hubby’s previous line of work and with all the back and forth unemployment wiped us out of savings and my own work at home business suffering because my customers aren’t too flush with money these days, either.
Terribly long sentence but I got it off my chest. I’m not whining. But the whining from the kiddie section to which she obviously belongs just brings out the worst in me. They just need to deal with it like the rest of us.

I feel your pain
anastas (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 12:59PM EST (link)I know how it is. I’ve been unemployed for 2 years now and I was forced to start my own freelance company designing graphics for people who are broke. It’s getting worse, clients are cutting back and my nest egg is gone. But let me assure you, there is money to be made out there. Just think creatively and don’t let your guts discourage you. I’m working on something right now that may turn my luck and it has everything to do with this administration. It’s do or die time.
Good luck to you and everyone else who’se found themselves in the same situation. Just remember, it’s the insurance that we can’t afford, not the unreasonable taxes that continue to grow. LOL

Designer and Illustrator
anastas (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 1:35PM EST (link)Well, I wasn’t trying to make this into a business proposal or anything but since you asked, I’m a Designer and illustrator. I can do some web and CSS but I’m not guru.
You can see my site here: http://web.mac.com/anastasidesigns/anastasidesigns/
I will also be coming out with a website selling T-shirts that really apply to todays political environment. What can I say, I was inspired by the NEA. I am very excited about these shirts because they look beautiful and they are powerful too. As a matter of fact, I just received a printed sample today so I’m a little jumpy. Now, I’m not so good with shopping carts so that is the only thing holding me back right now. Once it’s done, the site will launch. I’m estimating about 3 weeks.

one more thing . . .
anastas (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 2:03PM EST (link)To clarify, I’ve been a print Designer and Illustrator for over 14 years. I’m trying to get into the web industry by learning html etc., but it’s the worst time because the market is flooded with people who have lost jobs and have lots of web experience. That makes it tough to compete.
I’ve been visiting Red State for many years now but I recently became a member. So, although I look like a new kid on the block, only by registration. This is one of my favorite sites.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind.

Brooke Obie doesn't quite get the "red" part of "Redstate"
WarEagle01 (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 12:23PM EST (link)This is a Republican site. So when any Democrat leader, particularly top dog Barry 0 gets his a$$ handed to him on a silver platter, that’s a good thing. Also, when was the last time Chicagoans ever voted for a Republican for anything? Understand now Brookie? You’re welcome.

They just had on the news that Montreal
TNJim (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 12:37PM EST (link)suffered a billion dollar loss when the games were held there. I think it was a billion. At anyrate, it was a huge sum of money. No, Brooke, it would not have been necessarily a boost to our economy in the aftermath.

antisocial (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 1:24PM EST (link)to this day. People like Obie get fooled into the hope and change BS. Olympics never make money. O said all nations are on equal footing. And that America is somehow unfair. How do you expect to win Olympics bid? Via Sob stories?????
This should serve as a trailer….. campaign mode and talking doesn’t get you very far. O will soon learn that he gets a no from everywhere. I am waiting for Ahmadinejad to bow to O and ask for forgiveness.

drothgery Friday, October 2nd at 2:48PM EST (link)If they’re in the US, the Olympics do make money (LA and Atlanta both did). Which is why the IOC has gone off the deep end in going at least five cycles between US summer Games.
As I recall...
pauly1620 (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 3:35PM EST (link)The LA and Atlanta Olympics were organized by capitalists. The Chicago Olympics would most certainly have been organized by socialists and anti-capitalists. Do you honestly think it would have made money (aka a profit) for anyone other than Obama, Daley, and their cronies?!

penguin2 (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 12:39PM EST (link)bailing out Chicago. The cost overruns typical for the Olympics, no matter where they are held, would have only been compounded a hundred-fold. Their graft and corruption would have added a huge debt. And then WE would have been bailing out Chicago.

Dear Brooke,
pauly1620 (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 12:48PM EST (link)I hope today’s announcement denying Obama and his Chicagoland
associatesthugs the 2016 Olympics is just the tip of the FAILURE iceberg. The more Obama and his administration fail the better off the American people will be in the future.Socialism Brooke, is not a successful government model. Just because you want to relinquish your personal freedoms and responsibility, doesn’t mean all Americans do, especially not those of us here at RedState.
Cheers,

Yes, some may have made money . . .
anastas (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 12:51PM EST (link)But I guarantee you that nobody I know would have. It’s a pay to play town where almost every cost estimate is 20% of what it really costs the tax payers. I would have loved to see the Olympics in my home town but not at any cost. Whatever our policriminals tell you, they are lying. They will stick it to us when we aren’t looking. That’s how Chicago Politics work. Look at my right hand but don’t pay attention to the left.
So, Hurray that our President came through for us! You saved us quite a bit of money and hassle. Oh, and don’t forget the parking!

Kanye for Chicago

Then it would have been in the bag!

Obama fails - AMERICA wins....
izoneguy (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 1:09PM EST (link)There I fixed it for little Brooke…..
The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.
Although watching Obama crash and burn is fun...
drothgery Friday, October 2nd at 2:37PM EST (link)… the IOC just made a nutty move.
Despite Obama being big-time involved and Chicago being insanely corrupt by US standards, the only reason to go with Rio over Chicago was pure symbolism (Madrid was another matter; the Spanish are almost as crazy about sports as we Americans, and will actually use most of what’s built for the Games in the long run, with high-level local soccer and basketball teams). The fact remains that the Games make money in the US and do not elsewhere. When staged in relatively poor countries with very narrow sports interests where darn near everything is going to have to be built special for the Games, they lose a lot of money,
