So more Dems. . .

Rich Tandler (Diary) Tuesday, September 15th at 5:56PM EST (link)

. . .were in the right about this than Republicans who got it wrong.

A lot of these so-called representatives need to be thrown out, both sides of the aisle.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed with the tears of defeated politicians of BOTH parties and at ALL levels over the next few election cycles.

Way more Republicans got it right than Democrats. By an order of magnitude that is true.

Of the Democrats who voted against the resolution, four of them are on the endangered Congressman list in that either McCain-Palin carried their district or it was a close race: Michael Arcuri of New York, Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, Eric Massa of New York and Harry Teague of New Mexico.

After the small stroke I just experienced, I called Melancon who is unfortunately one of my Reps. I calmly stated that after apologizing and having it accepted by the President, no more apologies are needed because we are not all 12 years old. The man on the other end of the line was calm and quite submissive to me while I was speaking. Actually I think he was a bit frightened.

Just when I thought New Orleans actually had a chance of getting out of Hades…..Cao votes yes. Emerson, as in JoAnn?????What? *bows head in exasperation*

I guess he got tired of being a Congressman.
I guess he thought this would be a bone for his mostly black district.
I guess he is going to switch over to the democratic party?

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Oh please

BlueLandRed (Diary) Tuesday, September 15th at 6:43PM EST (link)

Cao’s fate is already sealed. When you can only beat Jefferson by 3% there isn’t much hope of winning against an “honest” Democrat. And by honest, I mean one not yet convicted.

I'm fine with Cao on this

1. This was for show, not policy. 2. Obama is worshipped in this district. 3. It actually was a rude thing Wilson did.

This is a consequence-free thing he can do to keep a slim shot of being re-elected there.

but this vote means nothing…and why there would be twice as many Dems who voted against it as there are Republicans who voted for it… plus 5 more Democrats who abstained…is beyond me!

All I can say is this to the Republicans in Congress…we need to be tit for tat…Republicans need to file petitions to censure every single Democrat who called Wilson names during this debate…and there should never again be a Democrat heckling a Republican President like they did Bush without Republicans filing bills to censure them!

he was rock solid. He’s very strong on Defense, that’s for sure. The only thing I can think of is that he is a tad pompous, so maybe he truly was upset about the breach of protocol. I can sort of respect that, accept that Congressman Wilson did apologize, twice!

what is most surprising

dingo (Diary) Tuesday, September 15th at 10:45PM EST (link)

What is most surprising to me is that this resolution to censure, which passed, was the same punishment most of these same Democrats wanted to give President Clinton regarding the Monica Lewinsky affair.

In other words, according to the Democrats it is equally bad for a Republican to call the President a liar on the House floor during a presidential speech as it is for a Democrat President to lie about a civil case in court.

So much for the rule of law. Go figure.

(Some might argue that it is even worse because Clinton was not officially censured, although I would not agree with this – the Dems didn’t push censure in the Clinton case partly because Clinton had already been censured through the impeachment vote.)
