It doesn’t matter which group you belong to…what matters is if you agree with us on principles. If so become a republican.

Its about time the Republican party began to show some small signs of life. It was beginning to look like “We the People” were going to have to fight this battle on our own. And if that’s the way it has to be, then we will step up to the plate but if the CAVALRY does show up, we really need them. I am sick and tired of being associated with the silent minority. I’m not sure I like SCGOP’s logo, did anyone else see it run by them and wonder about the crescent ‘O’ in GOP? When it ran by us rapidly, and then was obscured by the pop-up box, the thumb of the G nearly attached to the crescent O almost made it look subliminally like a hammer and sickle, good heavens. But I guess they’ve used this design for a long time without concerns.

As far as looking for more young people in the ad – the dying NYTimes is running a spot on FOX here in the NY-NJ area, hoping to get a few more suckers to keep it breathing a few more months or years. I’d have thought they’d have stuck in a few more traditional, mainstream ‘plugger’ type folks in to attract FOX viewers, but no…. everyone in the NYT commercial is a supercool youth or a metrosexual looking young urban hip type, complete with yuppie speech patterns. That ad must be working for them anyway, because the same one has been running for nearly a year. Marketing must not be so predictable or obvious as I’d guess!

so why does it look like the lady that believes in the Constitution makes a strange face and roll her eyes? Is she lying? Does she not believe it? Strange editing. If I remember right, she is the only one that has a ‘reaction shot’ after she talks…

Sort of has the same feel as some of those older Macintosh ads. Regarding the reaction shot of the “constitution lady”. My gut reaction on seeing her reaction was that she had to slow down on the word “constitution”, nothing to do with her (lack of) belief in her words.

Also regarding the demographics of the video. I’ll be the first person to tell you I couldn’t give a rat’s behind about demographic groups and identity politics and all the rest. However, at the end of the day, this is an ADVERTISEMENT. It’s meant to get people to watch it and connect. Having more young people in it will make young viewers feel less like “gosh, do I really think and feel like so many old people?” and more like “Yeah! That younger dude with the surfboard is a conservative like me!”

Having said all that, there were one or two youngish people in the video. So no harm done.

Seriously, I really liked the video, and would seriously like the NCGOP to take note of it. I’ve sent them several emails, one in which I tell them I’m a conservative considering running for office of some sort and asking for information, and have gotten no response. Wonder if they just rolled over after getting flak about the Wright video they aired during the campaign….

This is an answer to that line of thought…we don’t have to advocate for anyone here…we don’t have to run anyone in these adds…it’s about the brand…and letting people who want to bail on “THE ONE” that we are the alternative to the snake oil he’s selling!

This is exactly what I’ve been complaining about that rather than making a case for whop we are and what we believe our party leadership wnats to abandon it all and act like the other guys. This add spells out who and what we are…

Re need our representatives to be living this and communicating this every single day…and if they’re embarrassed by this message…they need to be gone tomorrow!

Whenever the person talking to the camera mentioned, for example, “a strong national defense” or “limited government,” etc., or the other values and principles in our Party Platform, I wish an image of, for example, “Republican Party Platform, Page X,” would have appeared somewhere on the screen. The message being, we don’t just talk about this stuff, we all agreed to write it down in black and white and we stick to it.

Since we began discussing Michael Steele to be a leader for the GOP I’ve been worried that we’re headed in the wrong direction. To people outside the party it looks like we’re just trying to put up a bunch of black people and other minorities and say: “Look we have some too!” to the democrats and independents. I know the LIBS want nothing more than to make politics in this country about race but we can’t play that game. We need to attract minority votes through enactment of policy not an ad that says look how diverse we are. It is impossible to include every single different stripe of the American citizenry in such an ad, and as such this is a waste of time and money.
That being said if they were going to do this ad they could have included more young people seeing as how all we hear from the mainstream media is how enamored the youth in this country are with Barry. I am a 23 year old conservative and there was definitely no representation of that demographic in this ad.

I didn’t notice it at first, but the several other commenters had it correct with the age diversity (or lack there of). It’s not that hard finding young Republicans.

Heck, I live in Madison, Wisconsin and there’s tons of us (I’m 19) around here!

I think its a bit premature to contend “If you believe in these conservative principles, you’re a Republican too”, given the plethora of anti-conservative legislation enacted by the Bush administration, much of it with Republican majorities in both the House and Senate.

That said, without a party to organize around, I fear our voices will forever go unheard. And so I look forward to the day when the Republican Party, through actions rather than just words, demonstrates its re-adherance to conservative principles. When that day comes, recommend the GOP’s new slogan be “The Party of YOU!”

First, Sorry for being negative its part of living in Massachusetts. Now that’s out of the way I see too many points where Alinsky can tear that ad apart, most notably rule 4. Otherwise, the ad is excellent…

Finally something from Republicans about what they actually stand for. “I believe…” If only candidates and elected officials would do the same thing, instead of looking for ways to compromise with liberals who believe in the exact opposite.

One, we stop acting like ‘groups’ and start acting like Americans we would be much better off…

Second… now if the GOP can stop acting like Democrat-lite when they regain control of the House and Senate and actually DO the principles they espouse in this video… America could get back to the Constitution.

Also what I would like to see is a commitment that if this so-called “Health Care” bill passes, they will make their main priority the necessity to privatize it again… IMMEDIATELY!

Mike Church made a comment about this once that it will get to the point of who can better manage the liberal big government machine better. Meaning that right now we are the liberal playing field, and its destroying this country and our freedoms.

The Republican Party needs to get back to little ‘r’ republicanism… good ad on the message, now lets walk the walk.
