Barack Obama Wants to Eradicate Death Panels: Where Death Panel is a Euphemism for Foreskin

No kidding. The feds want “all baby boys born in the United States” circumcised.

Experts are also considering whether the surgery should be offered to adult heterosexual men whose sexual practices put them at high risk of infection. But they acknowledge that a circumcision drive in the United States would be unlikely to have a drastic impact: the procedure does not seem to protect those at greatest risk here, men who have sex with men.

Recently, studies showed that in African countries hit hard by AIDS, men who were circumcised reduced their infection risk by half. But the clinical trials in Africa focused on heterosexual men who are at risk of getting H.I.V. from infected female partners.

Health wise, it does make sense for more than just HIV/AIDS. I’ve always found the groups out there who feel somehow abused because mom and dad circumcised them to be very bizarre. Andrew Sullivan calls it “male genital mutilation.” Sullivan is against parents doing the God ordained act. Sullivan has HIV, by the way, and I don’t know whether he is or is not . . . let’s just not go there.

In any event, this got me thinking about Obamacare. The government already denies children access to schooling if the children do not have certain vaccines. If we are all on government healthcare — an eventuality if the Democrats have anything to do about it — think about what else they can do to us.

The government could conceivably deny you health coverage unless you alter your diet to fit the whim of a bureaucrat. The government could refuse to pay for your hip replacement if you don’t stop smoking or drinking. The government can do whatever the government wants once you are enslaved to it.

Just look at how the government manipulates individual actions via the tax code. Now add to that mandatory health insurance run by the government.

This isn’t just about saving money and having choices. This is about liberty.

HIV/AIDS can be eradicated within 2 generations.

Of course the methods to complete that feat is unacceptable to the free love leftys.

Besides, the spread of this disease is a direct result of entirely controllable behaviors, not some small piece of penile skin.

from 21st Century Americans, the over-eaters, over-drivers, over-polluters, over-sexed, over-bearing Americans????

How unrealistic! :)

Anyway: Don’t you know the Leftists are trying to free you from self-control?

By having the FedGov control you?

But you have to pay for your tonsils with your foreskin.

Yea and it was made so, for the boy resident hath made it to be ordained. And so it was in the ninth year after the end of the reign of King Bill of the Dog of Horns had ended.

holy mackerel, you have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about.

the controllable behavior you’re talking about is not free love, its a) lack of access to prevention, made more difficult by the Bush administration, and b) reckless behavior by men of all age groups, all sexual orientations and – sorry to inform you – all political orientations too.

when dems and repubs alike flail around with your so-called free love, they are a microcosm of poor choices when it comes to sexual behavior

its simply moronic to suggest that what the CDC does is directed by the executive branch of the US government. yes, its part of the Dept of HHS, but has complete autonomy to organize, restructure, and make recommendations of risks to the general population, which is what is actually at work here.

If you did even the slightest bit of reading into the topic of circumcision, you’d see that this has been recommended for hygienic reasons for decades. to suggest otherwise is simply sophomoric.

The greatest evil…is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice. yes, the bad movie with Stallone, Snipes and Sandra Bullock. 1994, I think. but, the future “utopia” depicted in the movie makes me cringe every time I read about the details in these government bills.
Yeah, there were a few “cool” technological gadgets in the movie that might be fun, but everything else… I’d rather eat rat burgers in the sewers, ya know.

And no singing catchy jingles from TV ads circa 1965-70 either.

Didn’t see him quoted in the piece. A google search for “Obama” “circumcision” didn’t turn up anything relevant.

give it a break

spandrel Monday, August 24th at 7:05PM EST (link)

I’m sick of folks who claim to love democracy dissing government. If you love democracy, then you gotta get behind a government, which is, by construction, of the people, as long as everything is consititutional. If you don’t like circumcision, pass an amendment against it.

Sorry, usually I just lurk, but I had a couple of martinis.

cheers!

The colonists were told the same thing

JustLeaveMeAlone (Diary) Monday, August 24th at 7:26PM EST (link)

and called traitors for questioning the government.

Patrick Henry said, “If this be treason, make the most of it!”

Thomas Jefferson wrote that government “derives its just powers from the consent of the governed”.

Key word: CONSENT. The rights and power belong to the People.

This isn’t about foreskins or even ice floes for the elderly. It’s about a power grab over our lives by the now dem- and lib-controlled Federal Government.

I do NOT consent. And I won’t give it a break or shut up about it.

BTW, that Constitution you mentions says, specifically, that all power resides with the People, then States, then the Federal Government. So unless the Constitution now states the Feds have these rights over our bodies (or we, by our silence, allow it), they do NOT, under our Constitution, have that right.

As for foreskins, I could not care less. That’s an individual choice. And that’s how it should remain. A CHOICE by an INDIVIDUAL.

“To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.” Thomas Jefferson

I'm sick of dorks who pretend that government and society are one and the same

Beaglescout (Diary) Monday, August 24th at 7:26PM EST (link)

The government has exactly zero (0%) reason getting involved in whether people keep or clip their foreskins, or tonsils, or unibrows, or whatever. Where is circumcision in the list of enumerated powers the government has? Find it in the Constitution, and the general welfare doesn’t count because it is clearly a rhetorical phrase, not a prescription.

“A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one.”

You definitely shouldn't drink before you comment, spandrel.

janis (Diary) Monday, August 24th at 8:05PM EST (link)

Pass a constitutional amendment to prevent the gov. from forcing circumcision? And how would you phrase that particular amendment? Should we also include that the gov. doesn’t get to force female circumcision as well?

Perhaps lurking is, after all, your strong suite.

Nice article, but ...

preeder (Diary) Tuesday, August 25th at 2:16AM EST (link)

… not entirely true everywhere. Here in AZ the government cannot deny schooling for children who have not received any vaccination. The government does reserve the right to ask parents of children without specific vaccinations to keep the children home during an outbreak. This seems like a great compromise between parental rights and public protection.

As a brand new father, I could be wrong on this, but I am positive this is exactly what our (brand new) pediatrician told us.
