Target these Representatives on Healthcare

We know that most of the Blue Dogs are going to oppose healthcare. But what about the non-Blue Dog Democrats who live in districts McCain won? They seem to be good targets in addition to the Blue Dogs.

So here’s the list of targets for today. As the week progresses, we’re going to update, add to, and subtract from it. Start calling. And if your Congressman is not on the list, go here and find your Congressman. Start calling now.

"We know that most of the Blue Dogs are going to oppose healthcare."

bk (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 5:06AM EST (link)

Shouldn’t that be “We know that most of the Blue Dogs are going to oppose healthcare until they cave as usual when Nancy and Rahm turn up the heat or when enough additional funds for projects in their districts magically appear.”

At this point,TODAY, I am very ill. I am thinking I wish I were not. I am wishing I did not have cancer removed from me. I could be dead by now. But I am not.
When I see that my representative’s name is on this list of Democrats I know I have to stay with this fight against Pelosi. I am very annoyed. I am extremely annoyed!
Because it is part of the Human Existence that if you survive ,if you are alive you will struggle to get well. You will try to regain homeo-stasis. Your body naturally struggles to stay alive.
So Ms. Pelosi this is who you have to deal with-ME.
Leave Eric Massa Alone!
As Sarah Palin said about her own feelings: There are millions more like me out there. (paraphrased)
I am in no mood to brook any opposition. NO MOOD AT ALL!

Thanks RED STATE for publishing the list.

amen bk, we "know" no such thing re "52?" blue dawgs when only 20 something opposed

We should also ALWAYS list the PARTY of any congressperson when we cite them for any reason, esp calls to contact them.

I have a suggestion

Dave_in_Fla (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 8:27AM EST (link)

These offices have other ways to contact them.

For instance, Suzanne Kosmas Port Orange fax number is (386) 756-9903. I’m going to look into ways to send a fax from the internet.

Sent a FAX to Kosmas

Dave_in_Fla (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 9:02AM EST (link)

I used the free Fax service at www.faxzero.com, they let you send 2 free faxes a day.

Suzanne Kosmas Fax numbers are:
DC: (202) 226-6299
Orlando: (407)-208-1108
Port Orange: (386) 756-9903

I sent the following fax to the DC number, and will send to the other two numbers tomorrow:

Dear Representative Kosmas,

I am writing to encourage you to vote no on HR 3200. As our economy suffers, this is not the time for hurried legislation that will continue to increase the deficit, while reducing our healthcare choices.

We need Healthcare reform, especially to deal with the coming Medicare and Medicaid crisis, but this legislation is not the answer. I urge you to work with ALL of your colleagues in the House to craft true Bi-partisan legislation.

Sincerely,
David __________
Brevard County

As a test, I sent one of these to myself to see what it looks like. Your email address will appear on the cover sheet, and the text will appear without anything else on a second page. You can send a Word document or a PDF as well, if you want to get fancy.

Maybe we should be targeting Senate Republicans.

Joe Cor (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 8:56AM EST (link)

Apparently, in a spirit of New Tone, Honor, and Reaching Across the Ailse in a Spirit of Bipartisan Cooperation, they are fashioning a compromise with the Democrats so a health care bill can still be “salvaged.” Our “Republican” leaders in the Senate may still bring a major expansion of government involvement in health care about.

Also, quite a few of these pages have surveys on them

Dave_in_Fla (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 9:10AM EST (link)

Doesn’t hurt to bump the “No” votes.

Whoa! Vic Snyder has the National Debt Clock on his web site

Looks like a ripe target :)

TX 17th

cmw (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 9:33AM EST (link)

I’m working with a campaign looking to unseat Chet Edwards in Texas 17. He’s been very quiet on health care, just as he was on Cap and Trade, which means he’s probably looking to cut the same deal with Pelosi and crowd. He was given a release to vote against Cap and Trade when it was clear the bill had the votes to pass, and may be in the same boat for this one.

We’ve been hammering him pretty hard on Health Care (protests, letters, etc.) and any support would be great.

By the way, feel free to check us out at http://www.robcurnockforcongress.com/ as well … I’m helping overhaul and upgrade the web site. I hadn’t planned to try to promote it yet on here because I didn’t think it was ready for your critical eye, but we cannot sit by and wait for our timing on this one.

…and have called Chet Edwards’ office several times, and sent two faxes to him. The gentlewomen answering the phone said several times, he was against it…but that is his usual mode of operation, he usually lies low, and talks the conservative talk, then quietly votes with liberals on the floor.

I really fell sorry for conservatives that live in Blue Dog districts

Richard Mullins (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 9:09PM EST (link)

I find it funny that the Houston Chronicle was thinking of Henry Cuellar as a Blug Dog even though he voted for Cap and Trade. I would have thought the liberal Congressman Ciro Rodriguez was the blue dog and not him. Anyways, we need to join up together and get rid of Chet Edwards and Ciro Rodriguez(hopefully for the last time). For the record, Ciro Rodriguez is the congressman for TX-23(at one time it was red).

Just got off the phone with Betsy Markey's office.

NightTwister (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 9:41AM EST (link)

She’s not taking a position just yet, but she’s opposed to the cost of the current bill. No position yet on the public option.

She wants increased medical coverage and reduced costs for care, but not at the expense of bankrupting the nation.

Personally I think she’s going to have to oppose this after voting for Cap-n-Trade and being in favor of Card Check. She’s got a fine line to walk in a conservative district and she’s been going left of the line with her votes quite often since her election.

The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter. – Winston Churchill

Doesn't "not taking a position yet" translate into this?

bk (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 10:07AM EST (link)

“I pray to God that there are enough Yeas that Speaker Pelosi will give me the OK to vote Nay.”

Pretty much.

NightTwister (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 10:24AM EST (link)

She’s going to have a really tough time here if she votes for the bill in its current form. I (and other local bloggers) will have enough material to keep us blogging until well past the election next year.

“Not taking a position yet” could also mean, “It’s political suicide for me to vote for the bill in its current form, so I hope to God they make it a lot more palatable.”

The only socialism that flies around here in bipartisan fashion is farm subsidies.

In reference to Joe's comment on Sen. bipartisan bill

louisiana (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 9:59AM EST (link)

There is a bipartisan bill that has been referred to the finance committee. It is called the Healthy Americans Act (S.391). Sponsor is Wyden (D-O), with 14 so-sponsors, which includes the following Republicans: Alexander (TN); Bennett(UT)Crapo(ID); Graham (SC), & Gregg (NH). Four of the co-sponsors (Crapo; Cantwell; Nelson; Stanbenow), sit on the finance comm. Since my Senator (Landrieu) is one of the co-sponsors, I can’t see her voting for the current health care legis. should it make it through the House, but you never know!

Obama has set up a National Health Care Tweet

izoneguy (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 10:32AM EST (link)

But you can tweet a Senator and tell them NO.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

A change in 20% of the counrty and everyone's lives in 3 days. Interesting.

lholsenbeck (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 10:41AM EST (link)

Just seems interesting to me that they’re going to make this change in 3 days by completing the bill today and getting vote commitments, Tuesday; then will be passing it by Friday in the House.

They are shutting out republicans, moderate democrats, most inquiry by the public; and this will affects everyone’s life that doesn’t die within the next 2 years before the health system is flooded by its grip.

I am ashamed I did not work harder to defeat Obama last year, but not as ashamed as every parent will be to thier kids that voted him in.

This, and cap and trade; have to be defeated. The USA will not be able to roll either back.

I'm just throwing this out there

redloft Tuesday, July 28th at 11:09AM EST (link)

But many of these Members (especially Kosmos) are very vulnerable in 2010. I know I’m playing politics, but if some of these people actually vote for this healthcare bill, their Republican opponents will have even more ammo against them. The current House bill is going to have to change dramitcally before the Senate ever passes this debacle. So, why not let the vulnerable Members take a vote that could mean political suicide rather than pressuring them to vote against a bill that has no way of becoming law, in its current form.

I'm hearing today that the Senate is close to a compromise

Scope (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 5:44PM EST (link)

and knowing that Hatch, Snowe and a few other rogue R senators are on the sub-committee, shouldn’t we be targeting the Senators as well. Reid said the Senate wouldn’t vote on it until after recess, but, who can trust Reid? I wouldn’t be surprised if the Senate votes first. Am I missing something.

Senate is working on the "Kennedy" bill and is close

LittleL1954 Tuesday, July 28th at 5:58PM EST (link)

due to so called Republicans , actually RINO’s, who, just as with Immigration Law Breaker Reform, think Something must be passed. I agree, we need to light up the phones on these RINO’s. Does not mean they will not sell us down the river but at least they will hear what we want–NO OBAMACARE!

Not Good - Dont Underestimate Kennedy

Swamp_Yankee (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 6:04PM EST (link)

Kennedy has molded himself into a classic modern liberal. He is a liberal, but he is not a stealth politician or a closet neo-Marxist.

He is very pragmatic. And as much as I blast him, he is a first rate politician, strictly in the most political sense.

Plus, he wants it to see it done. Kennedy isnt going to let the opportunity go down because of a sticking point. He will compromise on major issues like the public option.

If he tacks to the Right, he might sway some moderate Republicans. With his influence on the Left he may get other Lefties to capitulate and follow

Say want you will about Kennedy, he is effectie nd he knows how ot get things done. And the only thing he is living for right now is some last moments with his family and to see this thing through.

Why?

DerKrieger (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 8:49PM EST (link)

Why do members of Congress feel as though they have to do “something”? Are they afraid to do nothing? I would feel far safer and freer if they did absolutely nothing.
Compromise is not an end unto itself and I wish to God these squishy RINO’s would stop being the weak link. Those that compromise time and time again are fools who should be ashamed at their gullibility. A deal with the Democrats ALWAYS is a victory for Democrats because we never get anything in return, all we do is force the Democrats to give up on some of what they are asking for. That’s not compromise.
A deal with the Dems always goes like this:
Democrat 1: We need 1/2 mile
Democrat 2: The GOP will never agree to that!
Democrat 1: They will if we ask for a mile. Works every time!
