There’s Something About Levin

So here’s the thing: I got an early review copy of Mark Levin’s “Liberty and Tyranny.” I read it. I loved it. I set out to write a sterling review.

Then that tool Hogan stole my thunder. I can do no better and can only refer you to his review.

Getting back into power is not reason enough to stand on our basic conservative principles even though it may be the result. We need more than power-seeking – we need to stand on principle to fight the Statist… to inspire new generations of Americans to look to themselves rather than the State for progress… and to band together in the most noble of earthly causes – to preserve and protect liberty against tyranny.

Put it to you this way — over vacation I read Glenn Beck’s new book. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good book. But it speaks to the measure of Mark Levin’s intellect that, compared to Glenn and many others writing calls to action, Mark was able to condense down and explain for laymen a host of meaty subjects and complicated matters.

And he did so enjoyably. His book really is a call to arms and, at a time Republicans are devoid of ideas, provides a good frame work for advancement — if only the squishes in charge would learn how to read then read his book.

So why am I writing all of this? Well, having dropped the ball on my review after Hogan beat me to it, there’s something now going on worth pointing out.

Without any buzz in the media or glowing New York Times reviews, Mark’s book has sold close to 1 million copies. And ask Barack Obama’s poll numbers keep falling, Mark’s book sales keep rising. Why? Well, Obama is devoid of ideas and Mark is full of them. That’s one reason of many.

If you haven’t gotten it, go buy it. How much did I like it? I got a free copy and I still bought a copy for my Kindle so I can refer to it on the road as I start a major writing project. It really is worth reading through more than once.

I have two pages left to read....

Aaron Gardner (Diary) Monday, July 27th at 11:08AM EST (link)

I tried to finish the manifesto last night and closed the book with two pages left…my mind was no longer able to keep focus and I want to be able to soak in what I am reading rather than just finish the book.

My next book is Glenn’s. I never expected them to be in the same class.

I agree wholeheartedly with both you and Hogan. If Levin were to ever run on a ticket the debates would be stellar….oh and he would win in a landslide.

I loved Levin's book and I think I will buy another copy...

and donate it to the library down the street from me. If all of those who already bought one did the same the lefties heads would EXPLODE…heh!

I have two copies, both on my desk at work

and I’ll lend them to whomever wants to read them. They’re conversation-pieces, and I use them to evangelize as surely as I use the bible that sits here.

Well worth the read

I purchased several copies for myself and family. If you want to know how a liberal thinks and what they have done over the last 40 years, read the the book.

How Far We've Come

bvinsf (Diary) Monday, July 27th at 1:58PM EST (link)

Levin’s book really shows how far off the rails we’ve come as a nation. He really constructs great arguments, with proof, on how we’ve let our nation turn into something completely different than the principles on which it was founded.

I’m almost done with it, but it is taking me a long time. It’s not that it is a difficult read, but I just get so frustrated reading it that I need to put it down for health reasons. I think it should come with a warning label for conservatives that it will make your blood pressure spike learning how our “leaders” are trashing our nation.

Exactly!

I’ve had to put it down several times to read my Bible instead just because after a point, it gets infuriating! Very educational and informative, though. Thanks Levin!

Wonderful book

I’ve been very tempted to buy copies for everyone I know.

Levin blows my mind

I’m just a not a fan of the radio show at all, too bombastic for my taste but yes, the book is incredible. It is serious scholarship, presented in an easy to understand way. I’ve bought copies for a couple of potential converts and it definitely has them thinking.

Mr Levin's tome is a modern call to arms

Marcus_Traianus (Diary) Monday, July 27th at 4:31PM EST (link)

Take it from someone who has tediously read the framers writing, this is a quick study of our countries history, founding, philosophy and reason for being. Any reader, and I truly mean any, can glean and understand the basic destructive influences of modern liberalism as pursued by the Democratic Party and Mr. Obama from the concise, factual, intellectual writing of Mr Levin.

This book is instructive, meant to be carried as a modern “Common Sense” or dare I say Constitutional Bible. It is no surprise at all that many folks have multiple copies.

If you have ever thirsted to compare Locke, Hume, de Montesquieu or any of the great influences on our nation to modern events, this book is your primer.

If you want to be able to carry basic, factual, intellectual arguments against the liberal opposition forces and deconstruct their fantastic mendacity, read this book.

This is a book which you caress, gently turn the pages, mark personal notes in the border and carry dutifully in your pocket.

What are you waiting for?

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson

Amen.

Dr. Levin is brilliant, and it seems that all negative criticism is based more on his tone than his content.
Dr. Levin is exactly as the meme alludes: the bare-knuckled brawler for conservatism. I wish there were 10 more Mark Levins.
Dr. Levin is on the front lines, and IMHO is the paragon of Constitutional conservatism. While many sleep, he is the intellectual warrior standing on the wall.
Any “conservative” who attacks Dr. Levin on the basis of his tone does more to undermine their own premises than to throw stones at Dr. Levin. Surely the Dr. Levin’s message is important, and surely the squishies who would blame him for an “inflammatory” nature only seek to go along to get along.

Is it better to “get along”?

Mark Levin is a blessing to the movement. Mark Levin waves the bold brilliant colors that the RINOs and squishies are afraid to fly, and I thank G-d for true warriors like Dr. Levin.

May G-d Bless Mark Levin, and may G-d Bless America.

While his radio voice is definitely an acquired taste, his passion,
his experience and his…(did I mention passion?)…commitment to the constitution is unequaled.

I’m sure that he is hated at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

That alone makes him worth listening to as well as reading.

I enjoyed Levin's book much more than Beck's

lthurwitz (Diary) Tuesday, July 28th at 12:47AM EST (link)

Levin’s book reads like he really pout time and effort into the research and he has a no-nonsense way at sharing his view. Beck’s book factory is like his show – cheap sensationalism for a quick buck.

Our family owns 5 - 6 copies

in different formats. We love it. My son-in-law is gave it as grad presents to at least 2 cousins.

Mark’s intellect shines throughout the book.
