Support Citizen Verification

You will probably recall that the Obama Department of Justice has decided not to pre-clear Georgia’s verification process for voting. Under the process, Georgia’s Secretary of State cross referenced voter registration information to drivers license and social security data to make sure what a person claimed was verifiable to ensure only citizens voted in Georgia.

When Georgia ran the test, which the Department of Justice helped design, 2,100 people were called into question for legitimate reason. Undeterred, the DOJ is now saying the verification discriminates against minorities — even though there was no way to tell from the process or reports it generate what the race of any person is.

Georgia’s Secretary of State is asking people to lend their voice via petition to let the DOJ know we should be allowed to stop non-citizens from voting.

Go here and sign the petition. Let your voice be heard.

Since DOJ can devine the ethnicity of voters from an electronic file, a la The Great Karnak,

maybe we could just allow Justice to monitor the data coming from the polls and weed out the illegals with out risk of disenfranchising the voting rights of the deceased.

I’ll sign the petition anyway in case DOJ can’t pull this off logistically.

I forgot, Georgia is one those nasty mean states covered by the Voter Protection Act (or whatever it is called). They have to pretty please ask for permission to oversee their own elections properly. While in Minnesota thousands of dead people vote and that is okay.

The law that requires certain states to preclear while letting others do what they want is such a violation of equal protection I don’t even know where to start.

The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.

Aside from the 14th Amendment issues, as the Voting Rights Act (Voting Protection Act?) only covers a certain set of states, and not all the states, could it not also be called a “Bill of Attainder” and challenged in that way?
