They saw the Jeremiah Wright video. They heard him degrade his grandparents in defense of Wright. Americans elected a monsterous ideologue. A liberal McCarthy on steroids. The media protects him and they will protect this female in a black robe the same way. The Bill of Rights is only a matter of opinion to these nuts. There are no more checks and balances in this government save 3 maybe 4 Supreme Court Judges. Liberal tyranny marches on and our country’s existence hangs in the balance. I believe the time has come for another publication of another book, “Common Sense.”

You are right molybdanthan and I’m tired of the double standard

Why the Republicans feel the need to be slaughtered at every opportunity is “beyond my pay grade.”
Somehow there is honor in dismal failure?!

The Republicans violate every other conservative principle there is, but when it comes to dealing with the most hateful people on earth, they feel we must “play pretty”. Let me re-phrase my earlier comment. Beats the crap out of me why!

…but if you go that route you fuel the meme which says “there’s no difference between the Republicans and the Democrats.”

Frankly, what I’d like to see is Sotomayor get completely eviscerated in the committee hearings and reduced to mush by either the GOP senators or their lawyers (and I’d like to see them find a sharp-as-a-razor Hispanic guy to serve as minority counsel and turn him loose on her with gusto), damage her as a racist, left-wing kook and judicial mediocrity, and then vote her out of committee and onto the floor where she wins confirmation by something like 57-43 with a couple of Democrats voting against her thanks to pressure from constituents.

And in such a scenario hopefully the conventional wisdom will be that Obama has through affirmative action debased the Supreme Court and put on the bench the worst justice of the nine.

Now, if the Republicans wish to rake her over the coals during the committee hearings, I’m looking forward to that. However, if she gets the majority of votes from the Judiciary Committee, then she is entitled to a vote on the Senate floor.

I think the Republicans should attempt to fillibuster (please remember that the Democrats generally do not concern themselves with respect to the Constitution), time and time again, until the Democrats decide to create legislation that prevents filiibusters. I’d bet the farm that even if we take the high road, the next time roles are reversed, the Democrats would still fillibuster.

She shares that trait with the AG, who has stated he didn’t recognize certain SC rulings.

That seems to be the major factor in picking a nominee in this administration, they must be willing to disregard the Constitution.
She ruled in 04 that a state could violate the 2nd amendment, and over half of her rulings appealed to the SC were overturned.

She has a record of screaming at lawyers who present arguments she doesn’t agree with. This one is a real piece of work.

Yes she is a great jurist! I guess personal preferences trump the Constitution.

If my remaining Republican Senator lets this go unchallenged I will dog him as long as he holds the seat.

There is no excuse to let a poor judge, with a racial prejudice go to the court unchallenged. Time for the Rpeublicans in the Senate to show some backbone! The countries future is at stake.

When the Democrats were in the minority and they held up nominations by filibuster, all I heard were complaints from Republicans about how Bush’s nominees deserved an “up or down vote”. Excuses were made for the Abe Fortas.

There is no excuse for following the example of unprincipled Democrats.

Now, do I think a fight should take place? Absolutely. But, in the final analysis, the words of Mr. Limbaugh and others comes into play, “elections have consequences”.
