Alas, one assertion in this story is dead wrong (although I wish it wasn't).

A government health care system would indeed have given Kennedy the treatment he needed to put his cancer into remission.

You see, the cost/benefit analysis would have revealed that Kennedy's value to society is much greater that you suspect: after all, he is a US Senator. And a liberal one at that.

That means his life is worth much, much more than yours or mine as any 'fair' cost/benefit analysis would reveal. You see, these cost/benefit analyses really are fair, because they consider the benefits to society as well as the costs.

So even if they had to send him to Switzerland for technology we would no longer possess, they would have saved Kennedy because of his value to our society.

Hope Erik never gets sick.

As a member of Congress, Sen. Kennedy has access to public (that is, tax-payer funded) insurance, but as a Kennedy, he probably has private insurance as well. Do we know which policy he used in this case?

At any rate, Sen. Kennedy can choose between a public or private insurance plan. Shouldn't the rest of us have the same option? What's wrong with a little competition? I pay 10 grand a year to insure me and the wife with a private insurance company. If a public option will save me some moolah I'm all for it.

you've no doubt seen the story of the Woman that is now on the run with her son because (for Religious reasons) they want to REFUSE chemo treatment for their son. A court ordered the child be subjected to the treatment, and now the local Police have also signed out arrest warrants for the Woman in hiding..... We've seen stories like this before....

DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE THE IRONY HERE?????

While in some of these cases the Govt. is looking TO FORCE HEALTHCARE TREATMENT upon some folks, while on the other hand Liberals are pushing for a HC takeover that will eventually RESTRICT YOU FROM GETTING HEALTHCARE TREATMENT YOU MAY WANT!?!? via the inevitable rationing that ALWAYS occurs under Socialized (One sized forced upon all) Medicine systems.

Remember dems are proposing healthcare as a civil right. How long would it take the sheep to figure out that universal healthcare is going to deny them access to quality healthcare? You may be right about rich having better access to care anyway, but I have Aflac, I have Blue cross. It provides alot of coverage. But when the dems get through I will be grouped into the universal plan reducing the coverage I have. Erikson is right. The dems have always been hypocritical. That's the nature of socialism. It forces its will on everyone regardless unless they are the ruling elite.

Fox News can work out having a exclusive camea crew at The Pearly Gates when Teddy shows up to find St Peter with an arm around Mary Jo Kopecky and a thumbs DOWN to direct him to his fate.

Cancer at 77, if Teddy were an averagel Americian, will be among those first to recieve the "Can't Help You, Go Die, letter from the bureaucrats in charge of Obama's socialized healthcare.

It's time some real leaders step forward to oppose the tyrant Obama who is intent on destroying American values.

1. Everybody knows that the insurance you have is only going to cover what you can afford in the first place. In other words if you can only afford crappy insurance you get crappy coverage.

2. Kennedy is rich no matter how this healthcare issue comes out you are not going to get the treatment he gets anyways.
