With a hat tip to my friend David, we know now how Barack Obama intends to turn the Census into a political quagmire without pulling it into the White House. See this from the Washington Times.
President Obama is losing a member of his press shop just shy of his first 100 days in office.
Ellen Moran, White House communications director, will become chief of staff for Commerce Secretary Gary Locke.
Mr. Obama issued a statement through the press office commending her service thus far.
The Commerce Department ostensibly controls the census and keeps politics out of it. However, Ellen Moran is a far left radical. She’s the former ED of Emily’s list, worked for DNC, DCCC, and AFL-CIO. Her resume is straight out of left-wing activism, not communications.
Putting a loyal lieutenant standing behind Gary Locke is the perfect way to ensure the Census makes up inaccurate numbers to better help the Democrats in the coming census.

Michael DeWeese (Diary) Wednesday, April 22nd at 12:41PM EST (link)Between the jerrymandering from the census and the ACORN type organizations fraudulent registration practices, there will soon be no districts with conservative numbers capable of electing a dog catcher.
Is there any recourse to prevent the Progressives from accomplishing the Census fraud?

I wish it said “of citizens.” Maybe if they stopped counting illegals and it cost them funds, those sanctuary cities would get serious about the illegal immigrant problem.

I've been saying for a long time......
Kenny Solomon (Diary) Wednesday, April 22nd at 1:04PM EST (link)…..That we’ve seen the last free and open election in The USA.
I’ve been called crazy, racist, everything under the sun.
If the census – which among ther things – is the determining factor for election districts and the people responsible for the census have absolutely zero intentions of ever relinqishing their power, then what makes anyone remotely think this entire operation hasn’t already been completely compromised ?
Next up for the 2010 census: Real and to-be-enforced penalties and prison time for not fully completing or submitting your census forms.
Expect some ‘interesting’ questions as well….. “Do you or anyone in your houehold own a firearm or any other weapon?”…….. “List the politically active groups in which you or anyone in your household are a member.”
Oh well….. Nothing to see here….. Keep moving.
Very Important Additional Point to Remember
jeffreywturner (Diary) Wednesday, April 22nd at 1:05PM EST (link)Remember the famous dictator who said that the people with the power in a democracy are not the ones who CAST the votes, but rather the ones who COUNT the votes.
The biggest opportunity for gamesmanship and manipulation during the census is not during the actual data gathering that occurs in the year of the census, but rather it is during the tabulation that occurs in the following year. That is when folks acan really screw around and manipulate the results. The tabulation of the 2010 census that will occur in 2011 will be the first one since the 1961 to be completed under a Democrat president.
That means that for the first time in a HALF CENTURY, Democrats will calculate how many representatives (and electoral votes) each state gets.

red4ever (Diary) Wednesday, April 22nd at 2:09PM EST (link)All the more reason the midterm elections are important. If we can’t take Congress back completely, we at least need to cut the difference enough to have some power to poke our noses where they don’t want it.

If the Dems manage to pull off all of their schemes we’re finished as a nation.
“In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.” – Thomas Jefferson
“I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.” – James Madison
Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience.” — John Locke, 1690
Not just the Census, Erick.
Flagstaff (Diary) Wednesday, April 22nd at 3:11PM EST (link)President Barack Obama is apparently carrying out a very effective campaign, beneath the radar of the MSM and others, to exercise extra-legal control of all aspects of the government by subterfuge.
We’ve all seen the trouble he’s had filling cabinet posts. In fact, he doesn’t even seem to care much about it. He has nominated severely damaged people to high office, people who are handicapped by ethical and competency and credibility and personal problems. When one occasionally fails confirmation, he appoints an equally damaged successor. Perhaps Judd Gregg balked when he found out he was expected to be a Yes-man.
My own unprovable theory is that by putting such weak people into high positions, he has much greater power over them than he would with a stronger person. Secretary of State is NOT an exception. Obama has clearly decided to conduct foreign policy on his own personal basis. Hillary Clinton is in no position to act on her own; the SoS has become a figurehead in recent years, and we all know the State Department marches to its own drummers, who are themselves already in strong agreement with Obama’s direction.
Beyond that, Obama is placing his own far left-wing operatives in high positions, just BELOW THE LEVEL WHERE CONFIRMATION BY THE SENATE IS REQUIRED. The subject of your diary is an excellent example of this, as is the appointment of Professor Koh to State.
The resulting structure is one where committed leftists are in position to make policy decisions that would normally be reviewed by more mainstream management (veteran Cabinet Secretaries). The Secretary (see: Janet Napolitano) becomes at best a rubber stamp, at worst a willing participant in the subversion of each department. As weak as they are, they’re in no position to counter the moves of their subordinates, because those moves are supported by Obama.
I’m starting to seriously consider the possibility that Obama (or his puppet masters {shades of Bush Derangement Syndrome!}) have long-range plans to install enough far left operatives in positions of power, meanwhile damaging the economic bedrock of the country, that he might try to do in reality what the far left feared Geroge Bush would do.

I think so.
Flagstaff (Diary) Wednesday, April 22nd at 5:12PM EST (link)I just used the examples that came to mind as I wrote. If I’m right, there are plenty more that we don’t even know about. So far, though, he hasn’t been particularly secretive about the placement of those operatives, probably believing that nobody will notice. And probably, “nobody” will.
