…in just a few minutes. Our local paper put the information on the front page, and it got some mentions on local newscasts. I sure hope we get a crowd!

Since ACORN and other left wing groups seem to think we don’t have the right to protest against things we disagree with and have made plans to incite violence, well… you know…

On the other hand, I could just accept the jail time and point out that I’m getting a return of my undue taxes since they’ll have to house and feed me for the duration.

3:45 to 6pm….free PORK sandwiches are being served.

I hope we have a good turnout. I’ve made fliers requesting people to text in their attendance.

We will see, Arkansas Conservatives are not traditionally a protest type of group.

I hope to bring some of the Constitution Party members that are expected to be there back home to the Republican party.

I’ll be at the Atlanta Tea Party, 7pm til whenever we shut the party down. Erick, can’t wait to hear you speak.

I’m not kidding. LOL

Just got back. My hands are frozen so forgive the typos that may happen.

It was cold, it was wet and it was GREAT. Lots of people. Many people out in the mud in their business clothes. So many creative signs if I try to list them I will forget one. Lots of media. I saw AP, Fox, and held an umbrella for the camerman for Christian Broadcast network.

It was so fun and friendly. People willingly shared umbrellas with me (it wasn’t raining when I left home). But, that’s conservatives for you. We don’t do the right thing and help each other because someone told us to do or we were ordered to do it or the laws says we have to, we do it because it is simply the right thing to do.

It was hard to hear the speakers (I heard it was because of permit problems, we’ll do better next time). Also, man do we suck at chants. We have no idea how to chant. I heard ACORN was there with their own counter protest off to the side. That is cool. This is America. As long as they don’t mess with out protest, we won’t mess with theirs. I thanked the cops who were out in the cold and wet too.

But, it was all good. People educated each other, shared stories. A spontaneous group crossed the road to the White House and whoever wanted to speak got a chance at the bullhorn. I discussed the quote you find in my sig line and the moral crisis this country faces with out rights gradually being eroded.

All in all a great experience. Hope everyone else’s went well too.

I would have LOVED to be at the Richmond or DC gathering…but I had a doctors apt at Walter Reed and I have to leave for work in 2 minutes.

I only hope this is the start of something that will win us the next few election cycles, and reverse all of the Dem’s tax and spending.

Little bitty town drew around 350 people according to a state policeman there with his family. There was another tea party 15 min north and still another 20 min south at the same time, so pretty good turnout.

Good crowd, polite, well-behaved. Saw one cameraman/reporter team that just screamed liberal plant, but was happy to see a man engaged in conversation with them, a mini-recorder in his hand the whole time.

Lots of good signs (my favorite was the giant nickel with WWJD? underneath it). A few truthers wearing masks and a giant anti-federal reserve sign yelling “END THE FED!” (of course they got camera time, and will probably be the only thing on the news tonight). Lots of militia-style signs and shirts as well (“Don’t Tread On Me”, A group of American Indians in full battle dress with the words “Homeland Security”, etc.)

I was disappointed that I was not very far from the front and still couldn’t hear a word the speaker was saying. Wish they had a better sound system. The crowd response was fantastic, however. Lots of enthusiasm. There was a minimal police presence, and they all seemed very laid back. Maybe two dozen counter-protests across the street, a few yells of “Real citizens pay their taxes!” (which I found hilarious considering the Obama appointments and the AMT, so much that I had to wonder if they were really counter-protests or anti-Mobys.)

A whole lot of “Abolish the Fed”, “Support Ron Paul’s bill to audit the Fed” and “Get back to the gold standard” talk. Mostly they were on target with “No More Taxes” as the main chant. It seemed to be organized by the Campaign for Liberty which appears to be the new home for the Pauliacs.

In all it was reasonably well organized and the people with the bull horn were careful to ask everyone to follow the traffic laws, stop at cross walks and not block traffic.

Illinois and according to their web site (lisleteaparty.com) around 800 people responded that they were going to attend.. The population of Lisle is about 21,000. Fantastic sound system, good speakers and awesome music, too. Super well organized, but could have used a few more and/or bigger parking lots. A very good time and well worth all that went into it.

Refrains that resonated the most were to term limit the incumbents this next election day, and that this day is just a beginning point for taking back our country. We have 0 ACORNS here in our Roskam country (thank goodness). The rally on July 4th in Chicago will certainly be “interesting.” I really want to see what the organizers come up with because that is during the Taste of Chicago as well as being a holiday with all the congestions that brings with the parade, etc.

Activists Taking Action: Unified Patriots

Usually when the left holds a protest, they bus in their people en masse having been organized and funded by ACORN or other astro-turfers. The left uses professional protesters.

The DC Tea Party was quite different. No paid protesters. No sponsored protesters. Just normal people showing up alone, with a few friends or with their families. We have the grassroots. They have astroturf.

THREE THOUSAND PEOPLE. On a cold, rainy Wednesday. As noted by several speakers, just about every one at the DC Tea Party took the day off from work to be there. People I talked to or heard about came in from North Caroline, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, Oregon and New York and I’m sure other states outside the DC region were represented.

No rocks thrown, no fires set, no pushing, no riots, none of the things we expect to see from rallies held by the left. Very cordial and polite. Orderly and enthusiastic. Quite different from the lefties.

We did have a small handful of pro-tax, pro-statist freaks, but they were harmless and lookd rather silly in ball gowns and tuxedos. And there was a mis-guided lady with a “tax the rich” sign.

I’ll be posting pictures tonight. Need to try to get to Merrifield VA rally this evening.

I believe the estimate was around 5,000 people attended. I came late [I had class] and had to leave early [summer job interview] … so the pictures are kinda bad.

This is where I landed after conducting business in the area, it is cold and very rainy here. At 3:00 some 75-100 people were on hand after a high of around 200-250 earlier. This protest took place on Court Square in downtown. Some impressions:

- Not ONE jerk, and not ONE pro – ALL grassroots. No wonder the left is panicking and resorting to crude sexual jokes
- Everyone was respectful and intelligent and able to articulate why they were there and what they stood for, no hollow-eyed slogan chanters in sight
- The response from cars going by was outstanding, and merchants were sending food and drinks over
- Coverage by WSVA radio was great

All in all a very impressive group, and the start of something bigger for sure. I did not speak to one person who had ever protested anything before, and everyone was just pumped.

   Cold, blustery, rainy day.  Yet a decent crowd had turned out in this small down just across the thoroughfare from the county court building.  My dad and me, we could only stay for the first hour of what would’ve been a two-hour event (though we would’ve stayed the whole two hours if the weather had been a bit warmer with little or no rain and wind).  Most of the folks there were like us… just regular folks wondering what was going on with our country’s government that made these clowns we were presuming had been elected to represent us decide to just close their doors in our faces and set about building up their personal kingdoms at our expense.  In the end, it was Glenn Beck’s Real America coming out in a peaceful manner to voice their disagreement with what our government was becoming.

   And they want to call us “right-wing extremists” for saying so…

A friend of mine recently registered an account here but discovered he couldn’t post comments (going to his profile page shows his account has been active a semi-random number of negative seconds), so I told him to hit the Contact page, but lo and behold, it’s returning a 404. So since I can’t contact admins here any other way, I’m leaving this comment.

max 2500. Others estimate it about 7500. I think the larger number is closer because it spilled out all over the place. There were some up at the capitol building. People in cars going round and round the block with flags and signs. A lot of horn honking, some of it prolongued well past the protest area.

One hour in, and the Tea Party is so crowded the police won’t let more in, so the overflow is wrapping around the block. I see people on nearby balconies and rooftops!

I only got to drive by then hang out a minute, but great group, having a lot of fun.

I attended the Huntsville Tea Party, and I heard estimates of anywhere from 1,500 up to 3,000. Everyone was polite, respectful and the event was pretty well organized! Side note: I am envious of the one in Arkansas with the pork sandwiches! Great idea-I am going to suggest that for the next one here! I am glad that all the tea parties have gone well so far!!

I could have gone to the one in State College but I took my nine year old out of school and drove out to be with my brother. Man it was great. Looked to be close to a 1,0000 people on a rainy day.

Never been more proud to see my fellow conservatives are beginning to embrace America’s first Flag of the Revolutionary War. Ah, it feels so good to not be as alone anymore.

I must say, regardless of the total numbers for the day, this is a testament that herding cats is possible and to have so many of these events transpire across the country on one day in the middle of a work week in most places wrotten weather on tax day is so impressive.

A glimmer of hope left in the country that we are here and we are waiting for a leader with a strong Conservative message to round us up and deliver us back the American “Exceptionalism”, pride in individuality, return to the can-do spirit, and return business of America back to business. The pride I feel in my chest tonight, is remarkable, I can not say enough about it, Excuse me for this, but the seals and the Navy take out the pirates on Easter and today this, I am having a proud week.

We hear all the bad news. This onw is pretty good. A Ras poll showing us inching within the Dems on the economy. Joy – No. Rest a little easier – yes.

The husband and I and three kids attended a Tea Party in Rancho Cucamonga (~40 miles east of Los Angeles). It covered all four corners of a major intersection and the protesters stretched for several blocks along the major street. The protest started at 5:00pm and was scheduled to end at 7:00pm. We had to leave early because the little ones couldn’t tolerate the wind and relative cold (by southern California standards). My husband and I both guessed there were between 1000 and 2000 people in attendance, probably toward the upper end of that.

The crowd was cheerful, polite, and having fun. There were lots and lots of signs protesting high taxes, overbearing government, and California Measure 1A, among other things. No signs of any trouble. Lots of appreciative honks from passing cars and trucks. If I find a place to host some pictures and video, I’ll link to them here later.

today, showed me something, as opposed to those on this site who will remain nameless, that a group of people I will throw an estimate of >200,000 people, who share similar setiments to that of my own were able to get together. This organization was a nationwide single day, not to mention a work day, with bad weather in a number of areas, and taxes due and it was sucessful. Regardless of the many messages that we were trying to be relay today, the collection of people who share our concern, and that do not necessarily organize to protest (if ever before today) were able to get out and make there voices heard. Again to use the phrase, I suppose now “Cats can be Herded”. The media will spin this no matter who showed up at the events, but the one thing they can not change is that we know what happened today, and in the future if this continues this movement will expand.

Lastly, the AP radio news on the hour said “hundreds of people across the country today” hundreds? Expect the numbers from national news’ wires to use terminology to downplay the significance of today. Congratulations to the organizers and my condolences to those that did not get what they wanted today. All have a wonderful evening, I am proud tonight, Proud to know that people understand that “Dont Tread On Me” is not just for libertarians anymore, I think conservatives (and the independents) understand what that means now.
