I guess that Michelle Obama isn’t the only Obama who doesn’t feel proud of her country. It symbolizes an American weakness which we haven’t seen since Jimmy Carter. The world is testing the new President, and the absence of a forceful American response to missile launches and piracy is being noted. The bow just puts it in pictures.

This Administration needs a Cheney to give it a backbone.

While I have great respect for Elizabeth II, she is not the “defender of the Christian faith” — her title indicates she is the head of the Anglican Church.

The “Defender of the Faith” is an title passed through British monarchs. It was originally awarded to King Henry VIII by Pope Leo X — obviously before Henry’s break with Rome over the Pope’s refusal to annul his first marriage — and it was given in thanks for a book Henry wrote inspired by his rage against Martin Luther.

Ironically, this book, a supposed scholarly work, went to great lengths to uphold papal authority, as well as the sacrament of marriage. Given Henry’s later history, it’s no wonder that Pope Paul III revoked the title. It was restored to Henry by Parliament in recognition of his anti-Roman Catholicism.

As for me, I don’t need anyone to defend my faith; I celebrate the Author of it this weekend. He’s advocate enough for me.

As for bowing to Muslim monarchs — well, that’s a diatribe all in and of itself We could start with The One’s obvious obsequiousness towards Muslims; we could move on to whether or not the Al Saud family can truly be styled “royalty”, and then generally discuss “Religion of Peace” ::: choke :::.

But need anyone really say all that?

Regardless, the WH thinks we are stupid and fools. I hope all of this comes back to haunt them someday, it is certainly giving us nightmares. The bow, reinforces our concerns about this man who is our president, yet seems to have nothing in common with our values and culture.

Perhaps like me you are wondering: A…..Christian church?? With the Obamas you can’t tell. Since Jan 20 they have attended church once — on Jan 20, they went to a traditional service at St Johns on Lafayette Square (known as the “Church of the Presidents” because Presidents since, I belive, Madison, have worshipped there.) This is an Episcopal church, as is the National Cathedral, where they also attended a service Inauguration Week.

It’s funny, isn’t it, that such religious, spiritual people, have avoided church for 11 weeks. Finding a church is hard, kind of like finding a dog.
