But, I do think Rush et al. are saying “free market” to themselves. RS only gets the ads for the “value” they provide to the conservative movement. Rush, Hannity et al think that their success in radio has little to do with the right-of-center websites… and they should think again. Sites like RS help foster the conversation and strategy that will make the conservative movement strong again. Weed out the bad ideas (bailouts, bipartisanship, etc.) and promote the good ones (fiscal repsonsibility, personal responsibility). All he and his publisher have to do is drop an ad here and there in the right blogosphere to help.

Erick shouldn’t have to have his hand out for revenue.

Funding has always been the problem with the GOP. We are so darn independent and not willing to tell others, we forget to get behind the good stuff on a regular basis. Sure, the money is there for the presidential elections. Swift Boats got off to a fast start. But, folks, we need funding in the non-election years too. We could be challenging a lot of this so-called stimulus stuff in court (the left kindly posts their pleadings on line so copying is not a problem), if someone would fund it.

I’m a lawyer in MD. Not admitted in DC or to federal court solely because of money. If I had a GOP client, I would so be in court in a second. I went into law to do public interest law. I like taking on the big boys.

A good marketer could monetize this site and generate multiple times more money than its getting right now.

And make it a better site for visitors.

I’m actually shocked that you don’t have a paid staff – you have the traffic to generate that kind of revenue.

Adsense and banner ads are the two least profitable ways to monetize a site – simple and make good filler but shouldn’t be the main course.

The fact that people who would contribute don’t even know its an option is a sign…

It’s not necessarily about getting donors – I have a friend who runs ads on Kos and Huffington all the time and he is barely aware of what those sites are about. All he knows is that he makes money on those ads.

This site could be gushing money.

Examples are like :mary kay, usborne books, papmpered chef, tupperwear, amway, southern living at home, there are so many of them..) Some of them have has good fundraiser programs, if your kids are in a band, youth group or mission trip, the kids can take orders at church they give like 40% or something.

Maybe we could sell to the WH and Obama to buy more gifts for leaders from us.

Why is there not a Rush ad and a Hannity ad on Red State right now? Why are they not on all those right blogs?

I’ve heard Rush mention redstate and Erick a number of times. I’m pretty sure redstate didn’t pay for those plugs.
