This is Levi Johnson appearing on the Tyra Banks show. He’s a clean cut, pretty type. That is, though, a carefully constructed image — constructed by the Palins and McCains as the Presidential campaign unfolded with the news of Bristol Palin’s pregnancy.
The real Levi Johnson is something altogether different. The left, when it decided Bristol Palin was fair game, went after Levi Johnson for being a thug and redneck. He was not interested in college — only in scoring with the Governor’s daughter. The classic tale of the high school jock who is, in essence, a low life loser in it for a good time. The left and media regaled the rest of us with tales of what a loser the Palin kid slept with.
The left was right. Now, though, they can’t be bothered by it. Below is the actual Levi — no preppy clothes. No polish. Just good old boy who knocked up the Governor’s daughter. Not exactly the image Tyra Banks and he would like you to think about.
What’s even more creepy is that the other person in the picture is his sister. And, as if lifted from the pages of Deliverance, she has his name tattooed on her back finger. Think about that one for a minute.
To be sure, the Palins should have done a better job checking up on Bristol. They can be reminded of that for the rest of Tripp Johnson’s life. That’s Levi and Bristol’s son. The son Bristol will raise without Levi because now that there’s no chance Sarah Palin will be Vice President he did not want to stick around and handle the responsibility of being a father.
But it’s okay. It keeps the Sarah Palin story alive for people like Tyra Banks to make money off too. Soon Levi will sell his tell all book, delightfully ignoring awkward questions about his relationship with his sister while relishing in the awkward details of his relationship with Sarah Palin.
And he will be greeted as a hero by the left because boosting him hurts Sarah Palin. And principles be damned when it comes to savaging the Governor of Alaska and her family.
Anyone else want to cash in? I hope Bristol will at least claim some of Levi’s money from his appearance on Tyra’s show.

I don’t know if either of them have legal custody right now though. With the joint custody laws like they are now if they have joint custody and Bristol ends up earning more she may have to pay him child support.

That said, Bristol Palin wasn’t running for Vice President, Sarah Palin was. This issue should have been a non-starter no matter which side of the aisle Palin was on. The fact is, no matter how the Left wants to paint it, Sarah Palin is not a hypocrite for having a daughter who got pregnant before getting married.

I wrote this before but I don’t think she should have disclosed so much. If she had her son’s girlfriend on stage I would have felt the same way.
I believe they didn’t help him be responsible by bringing him on the campaign trail. A man with a child on the way needs to be working or finish school, not traveling around with his girlfriends family.

I look back at some of the stuff that I did and said when I was eighteen and cringe (and, one day, all of you eighteen year olds reading this will too). Cut poor Levi some slack. I agree with JLenard–Levi is not fully formed yet–he’s just a confused kid. He’s got a lot of growing up to do. Who knows, maybe one day he will get his act together and him and Bristol will get back together again. I’m going to root for him and hope that, one day, he will eventually grow up. Anyway, in my opinion, it’s his parents who are the ones who should have have been looking out for his best interests (you know, the supposed “grown-ups”) and should have kept him off of the cheesy Tyra Banks show.

I have no problems with rough and tumble fights. I do know history; and that includes the much more personal political attacks of our earliest days as a country. I just don’t care about Levi whatever his name is, it really is that simple. If he is trashing the Palins, then maybe he is fair game. I was called smug and haughty for simply not following this personal soap opera, and even that is fine. I am not in the tank for Palin, I think she is too high maintenance. That being said, I will gladly join in defending her from political tricks.

We should kind of be expecting it, like I’m sure we have dealt with this from our children or their xspouses or xbf/xgf. We are criticizing him so much but I’m sure many of us here have children that have done the same thing to a former bf or gf or xspouse. There is a huge industry of divorce out there and most bring up fault after fault after fault after fault about the other party. How different is Levi talking poorly about Bristol than many of our own children after a breakup. People today are very immature and spoiled, they break easily, this goes on all the time.
We should also expect these type of teenage relationsships to break up or have conflict. Who knows in 6 months they could be back together again.

This does not automatically make the kid a scumbag just looking to “knock up the governor’s daughter”. A breakup is not automatically indicative of anyone’s wrongdoing nor does it mean he doesn’t intend to support the child. Before passing judgement, ask him and Bristol why they broke up. Better yet, DON’T. It’s none of our business!
So he appears on TV all dressed up with a button-down shirt. Then he appears in a snapshot with a t-shirt and a rifle in his hands. What’s the big deal? Looks like a lot of people we all know: business dress Monday-thru-Friday, casual on the weekend.
