We’ve joked about this in the Elaine Lucas post, but let me seriously throw this out:
Anybody actually, seriously want to come down to Georgia, have a few beers, meet a few Congressmen and talk strategy, politics, tactics, expanding the RedState empire, and whatever else floats your boat?
We could do it in Macon where I live or convene in Atlanta — nothing formal unless a bunch of you decide to show up. I’m sure I could get Emanuel, James, Absentee, Cella, and Gamecock there — hell maybe even Clayton, Leon, and a few others.
Any takers? Sometime July or August before school starts back?

I wouldn’t want to see it become “just another CPAC conference”… but more of a community gathering for networking and socializing among people that share core conservative principles in their ethical DNA…sure the first year of attendance may be a little small… but over time you build the community and brand loyalty… we may despise the lemming culture of *mov30n.org*, i signed up to read an article there once 5 years ago… to this day get invited every month to meet locally and get involved…
I assume that Redstate is seeing a lot of new signups like myself that are just reaching the 1st year in their account that joined because they a) they were awakened to the awful state of conservatism and b) they were truly concerned about Obama becoming president and wanted the best analysis and advice on what they can do to contribute locally and nationally.
I think its a great thing to be able to meet face to face…online organization is great for initial contacting and idea sharing, however, when you put a face with a name and a handshake a trusted relationship is developed and loyalty is initiated.
The biggest reason I love Redstate is that I’m closely connected with the thoughts of whom I consider to be GIANTS in political/economical/social analysis, at the same time… I can offer my opinions, debate respectfully, and widen my perspective by reading comments and posts… naturally the most important and well thought out content floats to the top of the recommended reading list… it makes it easy to be in the know…
this is more than a hobby, it means something much more to us…
and I guess I’ve just always had the feeling that Redstate has the potential to be an unofficial social network for conservatives that can organize anywhere where blogging is just a component of the network… maybe the directors have a different prerogative, which will never keep me from coming here to learn…
but I guess being a 28yr old with experience in building and marketing online communities and being an IT professional with web design/hardware analyst/networking/security skills… I feel that the conservative movement is just waking up to technology and our leaders sound slightly less ignorant than what they actually are… but that’s why they hire assistants right?
I don’t have any data or the six sigma certification to interpret it, but I get the sense that its evolve with or splinter with the next generation and even though we kids are plugged in… we are also very much face to face people.

So, I could come down from VA and make a small trip out of it and visit SC where my grandfathers WWII ship is along the USS Yorktown and continue on down to Macon to take part. Whoops, the only way I would not be there in August is if the DoD budget cuts eliminate my contract then I would be pretty bumbed out and trying to figure out how a laser and optics expert can work on bridges.
