Basically, R’s focus too much on the politics end and not on the culture end. Politics follows culture. Too many….lawyers are in this business; not enough journalists, actors, engineers, bakers, butchers, and candlestick makers, etc. are in it.

Republican donors need to start their own version of the D’s support systems.

The left runs a big spectrum of views, just like the right. A large percentage of them share the same values the rest of us do, they just see a different method of best building government.

In election contests, we “beat” the oppostion by converting their voters.

Serously, I’m not talking about turning the dedicated lefties. I’m talking about turning the people who deliberate and make judgements based on the information available to them at the time. Ordinary, everday citizens who vote.

Politics is a is about changing the minds of the public about what the Republican brand represents. Using language that reinforces hostility isn’t going to get us where we want to be.

The perception that we are bad people that want to “consolidate money and power” and “keep people down” is the number one issue used to trun people against us.

I may be reading too much into it,I’ll agree. It really isn’t a big deal, except that, to me, it feeds into that number one obstacle mentioned above, and as such strikes one of my pet peeves. Perhaps people are reding too much into my (mild) dilike for that particular comment?

I doubt anyone would stay a liberal just because of that particular comment. In fact, I don’t think most people would change their views based on ANY one particular comment, no matter how outrageous. Every action is based on a great number of influential factors.
I do, though, think it could be one factor, which, when taken in consideration along with a number of additional factors, could lead a person to check a D box on election day. It’s just something that people hear that turns them off, is all.

I think you are reading too much into the enemy comment. We mean political enemy, kind of like the Cardinals were the Steelers’ enemy in the Super Bowl, but I get your point.

I would only say that anyone that is hanging their hat of staying a liberal on the enemy claim is really someone that simply wants to stay a liberal for social reasons and doesn’t want to have to think and actually explain why they think liberal policies are better.

If someone is a dedicated lefty, we can’t turn him/her. Life circumstances often do that. See “Downy, Robert Jr.” for example. No amount of talking on our part will do the job, in my opinion. The left demonizes every single thing we say, do, or hold sacred.

Therefore, perhaps what is needed is exactly what’s going to happen with Obama and his minions at the helm–hard times aplenty and all around. If that doesn’t turn a bunch of lefties into righties, then nothing will. And that ‘s the example I gave above–imminent extinction will get us headed in the same direction.

Ok, it’s better if your comments are directed at “elected” Dems. Unfortunately, that’s not what people take from them. I didn’t recognize the distinctions you were making, anyhow.
I’m not talking about trying to change the minds of people in office (though the legislature is SUPPOSED to be a “deliberative” body_), I’m talking about changing the minds of the people who voted for them.
The best way to “destroy” elected dems is to get them voted out, which we do by changing the minds of the people who voted for them. That’s all i’m saying.

Second, I really don’t give a hell fired damn about what any elected Democrat thinks about us. Please note that my comments are directed toward “elected” D’s. You’re not changing their minds on anything, they gave their “minds” up a long time ago.

They need to be presented as the enemy of this nation. That message needs to be reinforced at every opportunity. The middle WILL listen and they will walk away from them.

We continue to make nice-nice with “our friends on the other side of the aisle” and we’ll be in the minority for another 40 years. Get over it.
