I’m proud to be a Republican in Georgia. However, I’m done sending money to them nationally so the national party can continue to lose elections, resist supporting conservative candidates, triangulate on voter categorization (i.e. Walmart voters, Nascar dads, etc.) and most importantly eating their own.

Demanding that corrupt elected officials leave the party is one thing. Lying and trashing honest, solid conservatives in an effort to realign the party as “Diet Liberal” is not.

No way. My local GOP involvement is the only hope I have to take the party back from the liberals. However, my donations at a national level have ceased.

I am not that thrilled with people like Frum who claim to be conservatie, yet whose wives actively act against the conservative agenda (writing for the Huff? Ick!)

Let’s dump the GOP and get a completely new Constitutional party based on conservative values.

Can anyone start a blog, call it conservative, and then denigrate conservative principles and characters? It’s revolting that Frumm can get away with it — I don’t care what his past experience may have been.

Won’t read Frumm’s blog another time!

The way we can retake this party is from the bottom up. Think of it this way: our enemies within the party are revealing themselves for who they really are; that lets us oppose them and purge them.

Palin is in reality an anti-Obama. Without any of the massive, controlled, political machine that Obama took TWO YEARS to build up, she was able to generate with literally one speech at the convention an enthusiastic following that turned out to see her in the tens of thousands with little to no warning during the campaign.

Obama is form with little substance. Palin is substance with little form. Everything about her is anathema to the profoundly disturbed left and even came into conflict with the campaign over addressing those issues that define Obama as a radical extremist.

As a result she is a threat to the entrenched Country Club Republicans who wasted no time in trying to destroy her and even now, continue to malign, disparage and demean her. She united the extreme left and the complacent right into a spasmodic fear driven response. The two together comprise a small part of the electorate and by no means represent any kind of base.

It’s one thing to grasp desperately at the first person who makes empty promises. It’s quite another to recognize a natural leader.

In that case I agree. I think we should let the pit bull run free. I’d be careful of making her too much of a figurehead, but would definitely lend her my support and would do nothing to quiet her. She’s the kid who said out loud that the Emperor has no clothes. Her blunt honesty and tenacious, unapologetic conservatism are good for our party

…a defining point, as demonstrated by the visceral responses that happen on either side, lovers and haters. Sarah Palin is where most of the issues that divide the country (but even the party) find a focus for discussion. That is why Palin is a convenient reference; deciding on Sarah Palin forces people to get out of the gray area in which they hide. We need clarity now, not more muddling of positions.

‘Support for Palin’ does not mean uncritical commitment to a potential candidate. It means mainly rejection of all the falsity, distortions and dishonesty that has plagued her treatment (and what she stands for) by the left and the RINOs, and a general acceptance of a Reagan-type of conservatism.

While Palin is a fantastic person, and would be great for ousting RINO’s and Libertarians from the party, we run the risk of looking like Obamaphiles if we cave in to the cult of personality. Also resting the conservative movement within the party on a single figurehead is dangerous. If she falls then it’s back to liberal appeasing McCain Republicans. Instead, we should support Palin in addition to other outspoken conservatives, and choose whichever one is looking the best in 4 years to be our candidate

I don’t think that it’s a good idea to coalesce around a given candidate as tightly as that, esp. given that she’s only served for two years, when gas prices were at a high.

I like most of what I’ve heard about her, but I think we should be wary of becoming a cult-of-personality like group of supporters, a demographic that already comprises a significant minority among Palin supporters, is the best way to accomplish conservative objectives.

.. for conservatives to continue supporting the Republican Party. Support or no support for Sarah Palin can be a simple, clear litmus test for eliminating false conservatives. Sarah Palin can also be the center of attention for refocusing the energies of the conservatives within the GOP. Stopping financial support to the party until the GOP takes a clear and unequivocal position for Sarah Palin is a clear, simple strategy to begin with.

The party cannot survive without the base. And only if the base is focused, as we have seen it can be when Sarah Palin was energizing it, the party will be prevented from self destroying as is in the danger of doing under the intellectual guidance of the gang of four Palin haters: Brooks, Frum, Noonan, Parker.

It’s no secret that Republicans were not fired up about the nomination of John McCain. I often wonder if many simply stayed home in protest, effectively handing the presidency to Obama in hopes that the party will wise up an nominate a conservative next time around. Sarah Palin came on the scene and energized the base but it wasn’t enough. Many of us who did vote simply held our noses and voted AGAINST Obama instead of voting FOR McCain.

Had McCain won, would he win a 2nd term? And if he refused a second term, would Palin have much of a chance after 20 years of having a Republican in the White House?

On the other hand, now that Obama’s in charge and free to screw all kinds of things up with help from his liberal Congress, Palin may end up poised to take him on in 2012 and offer America REAL”hope” and “change” based on conservative principles. I haven’t been very good at predicting the future lately, but I at this point, can’t think of anyone who can command the attention of the Republican party better than Palin.

telemarketers – that is a good name for those calling and calling and begging. Great response to them.

I am actually conflicted because of all of this – I am a member of my local county GOP and the members there (the majority of them) are all conservative. I have been invited to be a leader in our county party but I am so disgusted with the RNC/D.C. GOP I wonder – should I associate myself with the GOP or not? Should I continue and fight for conservative principles and hope we can send the message??? I truly am pondering these things – I guess I will put it to prayer. Are any of you guys leaders/members of your local GOP? What are your thoughts about this for your situation?
