Katon Dawson Exposing the Democrat Agenda

I’m off the NYC for work. Never been up there in the winter time.

Before I leave, I wanted to make sure you all saw this great video from Katon Dawson, the South Carolina GOP Chair running for RNC Chairman:

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

mindless opposition

undoctored Friday, January 16th at 5:13PM EST (link)

Mr. Dawson, do you really want the GOP to become the party of NO? What a strange strategy you propose: opposition for opposition’s sake. Just because Obama suppports it, you want a knee-jerk refusal to cooperate with anything he does. This is lunacy. Why can’t you envisage the possibility of bipartisanship? Do you really think this is beneath you? The danger that your party will become irrelevant is real. You had better take notice or suffer the consequences: many years in the wilderness.

"Bipartisanship" is the philosophy of people with no confidence in their own convictions.

Martin Knight (Diary) Friday, January 16th at 6:18PM EST (link)

Contrary to the bloviations of TV talking heads; “Bipartisan” is not synonymous with “good.”

And no, Katon Dawson is not advocating “mindless opposition.” He is a Republican, not a Democrat. What he’s advocating is mindful calculated principled aggressive opposition.

I see -- now that your side has to get things done, you don't like....

Jeff Emanuel (Diary) Friday, January 16th at 6:43PM EST (link)

….reflexive opposition and obstructionism so much after all, do you?

It was all fun and games when it was GWB being told “no” at every turn and opposed, as you say, with “knee-jerk refusal to cooperate with anything he” did, “[j]ust because [Bush] suppport[ed](sic) it”; now, not so much, eh?

Attack Mode (Diary) Friday, January 16th at 8:23PM EST (link)

Seems like just yesterday….now all of the sudden dissent is is going to be bad again. I guess that is the type of “Change” we can “hope” to see much more of for the next year.

I would say four years but I think the kooks have peaked…..are now enjoying a cigarette post Obasm…….and in one year I expect crickets from the left…there down fall will be a joy to watch and hell to live through.

Of course maybe that was just my knee jerking….sheesh

I expect you to dissent, Aaron. I would accept nothing less.

But I’m only speaking for myself on that one. I certainly would not hold you to a different standard than the one to which I held myself. I imagine the next four to eight years will involve the government doing all manner of things you find objectionable. Speak, and hopefully be heard.

All I can hope is that you folks try to be as constructive as I’ve tried to be. Opposition is essential and debate non-negotiable. I don’t magically change my views on that because my side’s in the saddle.

Han you seem pretty fair and honest...

Attack Mode (Diary) Friday, January 16th at 8:35PM EST (link)

My comment was meant more specifically to mock the guy who commented in bad faith, and insinuated that the Republican party is nothing more than a bunch of knee jerk reactionaries. You wouldn’t make a comment like that I know.

As far as working together with democrats, well if they actually came up with a good plan that I could support I would write a diary calling for all conservatives and republicans to call their Congressmen to get it passed. Unfortunately so far that has not occurred.

Guys like this I can support.
And I would say it won’t be a thin line

republicans – but a wide thick jagged one that does.
The differences will be “breath taking” & “stunning”.

This sounds good, but I want someone who will look in that camera and say Barack Obama, or Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi “lyed”. This is war and I am tired of being in this bare knuckled anything goes street fight and watching the GOP respond with the Marquis of Queensbury rules.

I’m not asking. The two comments in your entire history are (1) to lecture Katon Dawson on how he should be ‘bipartisan’, and (2) turn a typo into an excuse to ridicule regular users here.

You are a troll. You can either play nice here or you’ll get squashed.

It seems reactive rather than proactive

Sarah Palin scares me. Friday, January 16th at 2:37PM EST (link)

to say that the mission of the Republican Party is merely to expose and oppose what the Democrats are doing. I think anyone who is serious about being chair of the RNC should say something about what the Republican Party has to offer in addressing the problems facing our country. If Republicans are serious about regaining the political initiative, doesn’t that mean coming up with reality-based programs to help America? I have to say I did not find Mr. Dawson’s presentation impressive at all.

I do not like Katon Dawson's video

ZootSuit (Diary) Friday, January 16th at 4:27PM EST (link)

Okay, it’s nice to know that Dawson and the Republicans will differentiate themselves from Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi but HOW?

In many ways, this video is symptomatic of what’s wrong with the GOP. We don’t stand for anything except that we are not the Democrats. And, quite frankly, that is no longer (and no longer should be) enough.

Mark Sanford in 2012!

***** Unrepentant African-American nationalist, Unapologetic African-American conservative!

Zoot: The video had another purpose in mind, I think.

Martin Knight (Diary) Friday, January 16th at 6:38PM EST (link)

The GOP rank and file is angry. Angry at the people we send to the State Legislatures, Governors’ Mansions, Congress, etc.

Go anywhere, online or in meatspace where Republicans are gathered and it’s a pretty universal sentiment; our people get elected and quickly become sissies who go along to get along and end up betraying the ideals they claimed to hold dear when they were asking for our votes. We seem to be electing lovers, not fighters.

The impression I got from Dawson’s video is that he’s trying to tap into that rage to his benefit by implicitly and explicitly promising a more combative and confrontational GOP under his leadership.

Katon Dawson and Ken Blackwell....

St_Louis_Conservative (Diary) Friday, January 16th at 7:56PM EST (link)

….are my two top picks for the RNC chair. Unfortunately for Katon Dawson, I think the fact that he was a member of an all-white country club may torpedo his candidacy. It’s unfair, and I don’t Katon Dawson has a racist bone in his body, but perception is reality in politics, and you know the Dems and left-wing activists will make hay of that over and over and over.

because I have learned a lot about Dawson’s performance in SC. He’s impressed me. I’m not sure if there are going to be enough members willing to say shove it to the Dems and media (repeating myself, I know) and elect him any way.

We’ll see though.
