- I am a political scientist/historian by training and inclination: Not a politician or a political operative. Seems to me the RS Army is enlisting the latter in order to jiggle the former. If so . . .

- While the effort is worthy, necessary and good - it seems to me that RS is gigging frogs and salamanders while the entire pond (and all the critters living within) is dying from stagnation and contamination. I'd like to see RS broaden its scope and extend its horizon to include saving the pond.

- Our electoral policies and procedures, our voting mechanisms and nearly all the functions of government at all levels have been prostituted, bastardized, compromised, warped and morphed into a politico/governo mush so far distant from the founders' intentions/imagination that if they were here today probably all of them would weep for not remaining British colonies.

- Lets keep plugging away at the here and now (and near future) political candidates so that we can help rebuild the republican party office-by-office, state-by-state, candidate-by-candidate, member-by-member. I understand this to be the issue central to RS Army recruitment.

- But lets go farther, much farther. Lets address the larger malodorous, contemptible , self-serving, perpetuating and civilly dysfunctional monster our electoral and governing processes have become. Lets discuss their adverse affect upon the civil body. Lets also discuss how they became what they are today versus what they were initially intended to be by the Founders.

- Lets not only address the most pressing political players and processes, lets also expose the larger decrepit and discredited constitutional and procedural morass within which they occur. I believe we need to get related dialogues underway. Who knows - someone might come up with a cure.

If not here at RS - Where?
If not now - When?
If not by us - By whom?

Okay. Now I'm off to enlist in the RS Army.

...Raiders fans would systematically dismantle every support post of Oakland Coliseum at the end of each season, thinking that it might have something to do with the team's defeat...

Or Lions, first loss; dejection. Second loss; lethargy. Third and beyond; defeatism.
All enthused, but afraid to be, and when the team falls behind "Here we go again, I give up".
This is beyond just a sports team analogy, however. When the Raiders lose, some old man in an expensive Executive box gets angry. When the GOP loses, the country suffers as idiots ram through well-intended but destructive legislation. I say "well-intended" because I don't believe they're honestly TRYING to destroy this nation, but I do believe they're trying to re-make it in some miss-shapen image, and they haven't a clue what they're doing or why. Just like the Living Dead, marching forward to assimilate anyone in their way, or destroy them.
I'm NOT laying down for this bunch! No sir, no way!
Like you, I think it may be a losing cause, and only Trumpets Blaring in the Sky will set things right again, but I will go down fighting.
Maybe it's the Can-Do in me Jim, aint been on a ship in years (Seabee), but I do remember my basic DC training. Never give up, if the ship is sinking, try to save her till the last.
The GOP is the only REAL alternative to the Zombies of the Left, and we're taking it back.
We already have the high ground.
Get back in the friggin fight!
