Make that 123 days Erick. The following 11 Republicans voted with Harry Reid and 54 other Democrats to invoke cloture on the Federal Lands Grab Bill. 60 votes were needed. The Dems only had 55 of their own.

Can anyone explain what induced them to vote with Reid? I don’t know why we’re so worried about the Dems getting sixty seats if this is how cloture votes are going to go.

I was dismayed to read this this morning. Any inside word on what happened?Per their usual, AP’s piece is short on detail and long on bashing evil Republican “stalling tactics”.

“WASHINGTON (AP) – The Senate has voted to move forward with a bill setting aside more than 2 million acres in nine states as wilderness.

The 66-12 vote during a rare Sunday session marks an early partisan showdown that has threatened to derail pledges by Senate leaders to work cooperatively as a new administration takes office. ”

Reid has to have 60 votes to proceed because of the way the legislation is positioned. He’ll neither get 60, nor will he be able to say he had bipartisan support against Tom Coburn.
