You've very nicely vaulted yourself over Mr. Anuzis as my first choice. And may I point out that it's not just through your response here, but your platform - it's one magnificent piece of work and I can't applaud you enough for it.

Very very well done, sir.

I'll be rooting and praying for you.

"The RNC also needs to play a larger role in identifying potential candidates, and not rely on the NRSC and the NRCC to solely identify candidates for the U.S. Senate and House. The RNC, of course, will not pick a candidate in the primary without a signed Rule 11 waiver. The most important factor in evaluating a potential Republican candidate is whether he/she has integrity and agrees with our philosophy of limited government, traditional values and a strong defense. If someone doesn’t agree with the basic Republican values, it hardly matters whether or not they make a good candidate on other levels."

There is Blackwell - and then there is everybody else. He's the guy.

Rather than explaining how pro-life is the most important part and fiscal conservativism is kind of important, sometimes, when we're the minority, but you have to understand that the spending done by Republicans was done with the best of intentions, The Children have to eat, after all, and "Personal Responsibility" only works with people who are responsible you know...

So on and so forth.

I think that if he follows through with all of it, the Republicans will do well on their own merits, rather than merely picking up seats because of the pendulum swinging.

is the best way to prevent the big tent liberals from cramming things down our throats.

Aside from his desire to return the platform to it's rightful place, this is what I like most about his response!

To receive the nomination of the Republican Party is an honor that comes with certain expectations. Candidates should prove themselves to be a good Republican before they can be a good elected official, and we should recruit candidates who support the party and the RNC platform adopted at the Convention.

The RNC also needs to play a larger role in identifying potential candidates, and not rely on the NRSC and the NRCC to solely identify candidates for the U.S. Senate and House. The RNC, of course, will not pick a candidate in the primary without a signed Rule 11 waiver. I don't see Duncan, Steele, or any of the other sheep running even touching on this let alone hammering it home!

We can no longer rely only on direct mail and talk radio to serve as our echo chamber – we need to take our message directly to the voters through social networking, integrating the eCampaign, and using all the technological tools available to deliver a constant, clear, and concise message.

And I firmly believe that by better communicating the philosophy that sets us apart from the Democrats, and growing the involvement of the party at precinct and local levels, we can keep our Republican elected officials accountable to our platform while holding the Obama Administration accountable to the voters.

He's the only on I've heard even mention the platform let alone discuss holding candidates accountable to it!

"It’s not just the pro-life Republicans we need to focus on; we also need to ensure we are the party of limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual rights, and a strong national defense. "

If he can follow through with that, the Republicans will find themselves doing well again.

...reinforce my belief that there is no close second to Ken Blackwell for RNC chairman.

My three big requirements for the new party chairman are to kick our big-tent-at-any-cost attitude towards liberal Republicans, finding a better way to motivate our base to engage at a grassroots level, and putting ideas forward instead of responding to the Democrats. He hit all three here.

What I really like about Blackwell, and what I remember best about his campaign for governor of Ohio, is that he brings ideas to the table that I haven't heard or considered before. I'm not sure about decentralizing the RNC's operations, but I have an affinity for decentralization in general, so I could be convinced. It's interesting.

probably don't know him well enough. Not saying everyone has to love him, but there's something wrong if we can't see the potential he could bring to the GOP.
