PITTSBURGH — A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, police said.

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard tells Channel 4 Action News that the victim was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday night outside of a Citizens Bank near Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m.

Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim’s car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter “B” into her face, Richard said.

Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank’s surveillance cameras.

The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.

I think the news story sounds more like the woman was robbed by an ordinary criminal who then got angered by her political leanings after seeing the McCain bumper sticker and moved on from armed robbery to armed assault. It’s probably fair to say the thug was an “Obama supporter”, but his first inclination seemed to be to commit theft rather than to attack a political opponent.

According to the reports that came out. If that is true it’s not as though there are roving gangs of Obama supporters looking to attack McCain people.

If some criminal, in the midst of a robbery, took it up a notch because he saw a McCain sticker, well, that’s horrible of course. Well and truly depraved in every sense of the word.

But if that report is correct, he robbed her first and THEN got all political. That’s not the same thing as:

“Today there is a new, more violent twist. A McCain supporter, a 20 year old college Republican volunteer, was savagely attacked by Barack Obama supporters in Pennsylvania. They carved a “B” into the side of her face.”

I hope they catch the guy and he does some serious hard time in PMITA prison. But the way you’re characterizing this is not what appears to have happened. You used the word “they” which implies plural. Heck, it almost implies that every single one of us Obama supporters “own” this horrible act. That’s ludicrous, if that’s the implication.

I’m very sorry for this young woman. I hope she heals, physically and mentally, from this horrible crime. And as I said above, I really hope they make the culprit pay. But please, let’s describe this accurately.

The investigation came up with no one (other than the reporter who clearly fabricated the story) to corroborate his claim.

Let’s watch how A) The MSM ignores this story and/or B) How it is spun to be the victim’s fault.

They try to discredit her they way they are trying to destroy Joe the Plumber. They will accuse her of making up the story and inflicting the wounds on herself. They will focus on the fact that she did not seek medical treatment and Obama’s supporters will call her a racist because she reported her attacker as being black.

I do love how the police spokesperson (or the reporter on this story) uses the word “scratched” rather than “cut” the letter “B” into the young woman’s face with a knife… because… we all know that scratches are nothing compared to a cut… right?

One of the very few teacher’s I’ve met who actually supports Obama was confronted by three students on campus that other day who became hostile and started threatening him, becuase he had a McCain sticker on his car.

That’s it. He walked in a building, was followed by the three students and they started accusing him of racism, and making other outlandish beligerant statements. They finally let their haughty ego’s subside and walked away, the joke being on them since they all wore their student ID’s and the teacher made a note and filed complaints with the proper authorities.

Still, that just goes to show up the level of hostility brought on by the Probama media, and their political allies such as Murtha, Lewis, and Biden. I wrote a paper about the issue, for the Vice President of Campus since he happens to teach my philosophy class. I may have to post the paper in a diary later.

Even if he “just” scratched the “B” into her face, she’s going to have the scar for a while to remind her that she deserved her fate simply for supporting the “wrong” candidate.

… raises a couple of questions in my mind:

1) Why is the “B” backwards and (if the assailant is right-handed like most people) is it on her right check?

If the assailant right-handed then the mutilation would mostly likely be on her left check and, right-handed or left-handed, I don’t see why/how the “B” should be backwards.

2) Why is the “B” so “neat”?

Your natural instincts when someone is inflicting pain on you is to draw away, even (especially) when held. If someone was making multiple cuts in your face, as when carving a multi-stroke letter like a “B” in it, chances are that you would at least involuntarily (as well as consciously) squirm around; making the strokes in the letter “untidy” and inconsistent. Even if she fainted and/or was unconscious she most likely would have unconsciously jerked away when at the pain of the knife being pressed into her skin. But the stroke in the letter “B” on that woman’s face are relatively “neat” and consistent.

This is an absolutely horrendous crime against this woman and whoever did this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law if it actually happened. The problem for me is that there are at least a couple of things that give me pause.

If she were upset down to her assailant while he carved the “B” into her face, that would explain why it is both backwards and on her right check. However, I am still concerned about the tidiness of the “B”.

1 The victim is not from Pittsburgh.

2 She was attacked last night. They called the cops last night.

3 According to the police, she was on the ground when she got the B carved on her face. The cops are, in fact, treating this entire thing as actually having happened.

4 There actually was video surveillance of the ATM in question: the cops are apparently trying to look at it now.

I’m very skeptical of this whole story too, for all of the reasons stated by others. Also, the fact scenario just seems to canned. A young white woman attacked by a black man, outraged by her support of McCain?

If it turns out to be true, it is a horrible, disgusting crime. Obama should publicly and loudly condemn it and probably call the woman as well.

But I have serious doubts. Let’s not jump all over this until we know more.

The name is covered by 2 decidedly separate Marker swipes. The second part (last name) is clearly shorter than the first name. That is easy to see because the second mark has part of the first letter (capitalized) exposed, and pretty evident that it is a “B.” The letter spacing, yields a 4 letter last name. The Smoking Gun found the Twitter stream of the John McCain campaign volunteer who reported being attacked by a Barack Obama supporter earlier tonight. The woman, Ashley Todd, was blogging just before and after the incident, and her Twitter posts were available to the public up until a few hours ago, when she set them to private. That’s probably prudent: a presidential campaign trying to peel working-class voters away from the Democrats probably doesn’t want people getting the wrong idea about what it means when it calls “Little Italy” as “the wrong side of Pittsburgh.” (UPDATES: Below.)

Despite the potential for confusion, Todd surely meant she was on the “wrong” side of town because it was the opposite of where she wanted to be, geographically. Not because she was scared of bitter poors and so forth. Right?

Because Bloomington, where Todd was attacked, is described by a historian (cited on Wikipedia) as “a feast, as rich to the eyes as the homemade tortellini and cannoli in its shop windows are to the stomach.” Judging from the ShoppingBloomfield.com website, that description sounds like it remains accurate to this day, what with the gourmet bistro, art gallery, antique store and farmer’s market described therein.

As I look at the picture of the girl, it seems that the “B” was carved backwards. This can mean one of a couple of things -either the Obama supporter was slightly dyslexic and did it that way by accident, or the poor girl did it herself with the aid of a mirror.

I mention this because many years ago (over 20), a foul and despicable late night TV talk show host named Morton Downey, Jr. reported that he had been assaulted and beaten by a gang of neo-nazis and had a swastika written on his forehead. When his picture came out, the swastika was a mirror-image of what it should have been, and his story was discredited.

Would I put this past an Obama supporter? Sadly, no I wouldn’t. No matter what, I hope we get the truth, no matter what it is, on all these incidents.

HOWEVER, if the ATM tapes do show fraud on her part, and therefore filing a false-report, I’ll WANT HER PROSECUTED ALSO (not EXCUSED like Democrats do on their side – excuse away Criminality).

Secondly, I hate when ANY media outlet pulls this kind of tease. Often, they’ll tease a story one way only to report the facts to be opposite of the “suggestiveness” in the tease of the segment. This is similar to “deceptive Headlines” in the print media. To make a salacious claim to get people to view the segment that ain’t much.

Trouble is, many run with the implication of the Tease and/or deceptive headline rather than the FACTS of the story.

It was very revealing as to how all you lefty turds think in situations like this. Some of you were apparently correct in you doubt of the story and that is good for you, but the majority of you did not care one iota about whether or not the story was true. The story has now been reported as being false. This changes nothing about your defense, at least for those who were diverting rather than just reserving judgment on the validity of the story.
