I think we should have an open thread a day between now and the election.

There have been dozens of little blurbs I’ve heard or read that I wanted to share, but they are not diary worthy, and the diaries are shooting by so fast I never get a chance to read the ones we have.

But they would be great comments on an open thread.

Maybe you could open it up with something from the mail bag. Those are always fun. And I’m sure it’s a target rich environment right now. And if you have a shortage, have Moe post a diary and gin some up.

One thing to consider as an outcome of this election, how to reach across the aisle to Conservative Democrats.

IF…as I think this election will turn out, conservative with a small c issues of fiscal responsibility, defense and law and order are not going to be at the top of the agenda. Reaching across the aisle to conservative D’s who might disagree on some issues with the R position, but agree on a few critical issues may be the only way to stop a complete melt-down of our country while waiting for the 2010 Mid Terms.

In terms of tools, how to also reach those D’s who might be reachable would be a good thing.

Are you going to send out secret decoder rings, tin whistles, and ID cards signed by Captain America and Mickey Mouse? Instead of making yourselves objects of ridicule, may I respectfully suggest that you take a good look at the high probability of a Democratic government brought on by the failure of neocons to govern. Somebody has to put together a rational, real world based conservative movement (you remember; those guys who wanted to balance the budget, not engage in random interventions in other countries, supported individual rights,  etc., etc.  I kind of miss those guys. ) that will act as a counterbalance to Democrats. Running up ten trillion dollars in deficits is not exactly the traditional conservative modus operandi. What do you think Ike would have said to the New America Century project? Eisenhower and Goldwater didn't try to suppress scientific facts when they didn't match their ideology. They used improved understanding of the world to improve the lives of Americans and the position of the US in the world. Barrack Obama isn't going to turn the country into China; he couldn't, even if he wanted to. If you want to have a real conservative voice in the future of the US, its time to junk what didn't work and return to what was effective at running the country, not just spreading propaganda and winning elections by turing out anti-gay voters. I doubt Eisenhower would have chanted 'drill. baby, drill'.

I believe the site was Numbers USA….and was able to do some of the very same things.

We were able to offload on all congress proposals from Illegal immigration to energy. We made sure that our congressmen hear from us and even overloaded the system with the # of emails, called offices and filled voicemails and revealed local office phone # and filled that as well.

But as we saw our two congressmen Levin & Stabenow voted the way a democrat votes….against the will of the people.

Will this be in opposition to Obama’s “national civilian security force”? Because Dear Leader may not like that.

If you’re serious about winning, start by looking into Newton Minow’s relationship with Walter Annenberg and Thomas Ayers, or, with the people who sat on the panel with Bernardine Dohrn in the Now. 4, 1997 conference set up by Michelle Obama on Juvenile Justice, where Michelle scheduled Obama and Ayers together on one panel and Bernardine Dohrn on another (w/other guests). A dog returns to his own vomit and these people are a freakin’ broken record. Same places, same people, same sick ideology. Michelle wouldn’t put strangers on the same panel. The key here is to tie Michelle with Dohrn–not Barack with Bill. Backtracking those panel members might reveal the nexus between Michelle and Dohrn. Checkmate! I suspect there are a bunch of us always moving around, traveling etc. The current inability to logon, get updated and fully accessible pages limits prolific Blackberry users participation.

People need to educated about conservative economic ideas without the media filtering. Our politicians aren’t going to explain the benefits of low taxation for the rich and corporations, or the benefits of free trade, etc. effectively. What we need is a place that we(Redstaters and other grassroots conservatives) can go to and easily locate reliable information that we can then use to write opinion pieces in local papers, or call local radio programs.

I occassionally listen to Rush Limbaugh, on a station out of Youngstown, Ohio. The show that is on after him is a local host, who is a democrat. I have no idea how many people listen to each on the station, but I know that the host following Rush has at least a decent audience. He routinely blames all problems on the Bush administration and its policies, the usual nonsense, rips NAFTA(very effective in Ohio) etc. One day he was talking about the current financial crisis, and blaming it on the Bush administration. I have to give him credit, he sounds quite reasonable. Anyway, one woman called and tried to explain why the problem began with Clinton administration policies. She was not very articulate, and did not have a very good grasp of the info. I felt sorry for her, the host ridiculed her. What she did, however, is what we all must do if we want to counter democrat dogma. Posting long, well researched and thought out diaries on Redstate or somewhere else everyday is not an unimportant activity, but those of us who complaing about media misrepresentation and lament our politicians inability to communicate conservative ideas need to get off our duffs and do it ourselves.
