What’s the mortality rate on African-American Male Smokers?

It’s a fair question to ask now. The left, after all, has been running ads by doctors questioning whether John McCain might actually have cancer still. These doctors have never examined John McCain. They just looked at his medical records. They saw that John McCain gets regular screenings. They saw that he has been cancer free for several years. But, they still question whether or not he may have cancer and there is a cover up.

Contrast that to Barack Obama. Obama refuses to release his medical records.

Obama told us he had given up smoking.

Now he admits he has not.

ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports: Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama admits he’s bummed cigarettes a couple times on the campaign trail since publicly kicking his habit at the launch of his presidential run.

“I figure, seeing as I’m running for president, I need to cut myself a little slack,” he told Men’s Health in an interview for their November issue.

What is Obama hiding in his medical records?

And what is the mortality rate of African-American male smokers?

The left made it a fair question to ask.

Cancer?
Enquiring minds want to know.
After all, lack of evidence in today’s world is not proof nothing is going on.

Smoking gun, uncovered.

Andromsoft_ Wednesday, October 8th at 11:12AM EST (link)

Thank you Eric! Forget the issues. Forget the economy. Forget national defense. You’ve uncovered the smoking gun that is going to turn the McCain campaign around!

Not only has Obama concealed his relationship with Ayers, but he’s concealed the fact that he occasionally bums cigarettes too! That doesn’t sound like truthfulness and forthrightedness to me.

I’ll bet he occasionally eats cheeseburgers too.

Hey at least they are reading the right stuff!

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

his followers have it also. When the rubber meets the road, and it will my friends….Those that have worked for themselves, know how to defend themselves, are smarter and have more resources will prevail. Those that will be looking for the government to help them will be in a world of hurt.

Middle Age is a stormy period for health

streetwise (Diary) Wednesday, October 8th at 11:56AM EST (link)

Sprains that don’t heal like they did when you were young and playing basketball, for example. (And sorry, Mr. Obama, you are NOT young biologically)

Arthritis, high blood pressure, stress-related ailments all become bigger risks when one reaches the peak responsibility years of middle age. We don’t know how Obama will handle stress over the long-term as he moves into this risky middle period.

By the 60′s, most of your health risks are out on the table. We know McCain simply has no problem handling stress. And he is comfortable in his own skin, without the constant and stressful attempts to define himself that characterize Obama’s mid-life crisis.

Interestingly, Winston Churchill had a rash of health problems in his middle years. He became PM in 1940, age 66. He saw Britain through WWII, which ended when he was 71. Then he guided the Tories through the stressful years of Britain’s lurch towards socialism, and helped the West to conceptualize the Cold War with his “Iron Curtain” speech, age 72. He became PM again at age 77 in 1951, and had a reasonably successful second term, although he did have health problems by the time he retired at age 81.

And McCain has great genes- look at his mom!

I wonder . . .

I am merely reporting what others have asked. Now, I’m not saying I think it is a legitimate question but, a lot of people have been saying: “Black people who smoke die early.” That’s a fact, that’s true. And Obama is black, and he does smoke. So, I can see why some people out there would be asking if Obama can even live to see next Christmas.

Completely agree

shooflyguy68 Wednesday, October 8th at 12:11PM EST (link)

Candidates for President and Vice President should release their complete health records. There is no excuse not to do so. So far, none of the 4 candidates have released their health records. Only John McCain even made them nominally available by letting a handful of reporters view his records, but not make copies, during a short window.

While we are at it, we need to agree that all 4 candidates and their spouses should release their tax returns for the last 2 – 3 years. I believe all candidates have done so but Mrs. McCain has not. The others file jointly with their spouses.

We need to call, send emails and otherwise badger the candidates and the media until we get this information.

I see you've noticed that your "above the fray" BS didn't work.

Why should Obama release his records?

Why can’t be we happy that he is simply The One, and done with it?

I am ultra-categorically opposed to Gov. Palin’s OB/GYN records being released.

The reason for this is that medically (not politically), the word “abortion” includes both induced (prenatal infanticide) and spontaneous (miscarriage). Any symptoms that indicate that a miscarriage may occur are termed as “threatened abortion”.

I do not know if the Palins ever had any pregnancy complications, but I can imagine the sensationalist headlines if an ignorant, eager pro-Obama journalist got a hold of medical records indicating that they a lost baby.

Sickle-Cell Disease

29Victor (Diary) Wednesday, October 8th at 1:04PM EST (link)

Africans in general, and I believe Kenyans in particular, are at much higher risk for Sickle-Cell Enemia then the general populous.

Obama has a duty to the American people to prove that he doesn’t have the dreaded disease.

Where are those medical records!!!

What is he hiding!!!

(hey, if the moonbats can act this stupid, then so can I)

Sickle Cell Anemia

independentthinkerdude Wednesday, October 8th at 1:11PM EST (link)

Recent scientific advances in sickle-cell anemia using stem-cells to replace malformed blood cells have cured mice of sickle cell anemia.

Stem cell research is critical to attacking the most resistant diseases.

It might even help with McCain’s repeated bouts of cancer.

government support

independentthinkerdude Wednesday, October 8th at 1:14PM EST (link)

who here supports McCain’s plan to have the government buy up 300 billion dollars of mortgages and renegotiate?

Adult stem cells

Dave_in_Fla (Diary) Wednesday, October 8th at 1:15PM EST (link)

That is a rather important point, given the ethical dilemma of unnecessarily killing of babies to try and save lives.

independentthinkerdude do you understand

Uma Richie (Diary) Wednesday, October 8th at 1:24PM EST (link)

that Conservatives heartily support stem cell research in general.

Many (including me) do object to EMBRYONIC stem cell research.

If this is news to you, please consider yourself a victim of Obama’s misinformation campaign and start peeling the onion back on your ideas about the candidates. You have 27 days until election day to find the truth.

True, but...

shooflyguy68 Wednesday, October 8th at 1:34PM EST (link)

There is no reason we couldn’t get expert medical sources to clarify any such occurence.

Uma Richie

independentthinkerdude Wednesday, October 8th at 2:21PM EST (link)

Do you understand that the most effective stem cells for use in research and regeneration are embryonic stem cells b/c they’re younger and more malleable?

I know that many Conservatives generally support stem cell research; of course that’s not at issue.

I’m interested in science, not religion, with respect to health issues. Some people’s religious beliefs prevent using Tylenol, others wouldn’t allow the use of cadavers (remember Leonardo?). They are welcome to observe that in their own choices but some of us want cures for diseases ASAP.

Hmm

Sandman Wednesday, October 8th at 3:12PM EST (link)

Given the attacks on McCain’s state of health, you’d think that BHO would be only too happy to release his medical records to show America that he is healthy. So why doesn’t he? The likely answer is that his medical record provide details regarding his drug abuse. Could it be more than the “dabbling” he admits to? It’s also not out of the question that he has other significant issues such as HIV, hepatitis, STD’s, cardiovascular or pulmonary problems.

I think that the smoking is an important point beyond the obvious health issue. The POTUS is expected to have a level of self control well beyond that of your average Joe Sixpack. BHO’s inability to quit once the issue is within the public domain is a sign of weakness.

From what I understand

Uma Richie (Diary) Wednesday, October 8th at 3:47PM EST (link)

embryonic stem cells are so young that they are good for researching the general properties of stem cells only and are not useful as treatments for particular diseases/disorders. If I have time later this evening, I will find you the link for this.

No way...we'd waste a whole news cycle

shooflyguy68 Wednesday, October 8th at 3:59PM EST (link)

You can’t demand that Obama release his medical records and then exempt Gov. Palin. These 4 people are standing for the 2 highest offices in the land. There should be no exceptions.

Sniffle Rights Act of 2009…Health is on its way!

“Lieutenant Dike wasn’t a bad leader because he made bad decisions. He was a bad leader because he made no decisions.”

Last note to shooflyguy.

Uma Richie (Diary) Wednesday, October 8th at 4:31PM EST (link)

I’m signing off for the evening, but had a quick thought…

It is probably in everyone’s best interest that as long as a doctor certifies that there’s no life-threatening illness in there, that candidates’ reproductive organs be exempt from medical records release.

For example, in 1996 it was Bob Dole (future Viagra poster boy) running against Bill Clinton (whose unique male anatomy was part of Paula Jones’ testimony). What a distracting national joke publicizing their medical histories would have been!

I hope we can agree on this.

I could buy that

shooflyguy68 Wednesday, October 8th at 4:57PM EST (link)

However, then we would have to buy off on Obama’s doctor’s note that said he was in tip-top shape.

Yep.

29Victor (Diary) Wednesday, October 8th at 6:17PM EST (link)

I haven’t heard of one single therapy successfully developed from embryonic stem cells.

Between that and the recent advances in coaxing adult stem cells to aquire the same properties as embryonic stem cells this debate has become entirely academic,
useful only from trolling conservative websites to get the attention that daddy denied us growing up.

And if science is going to be completely divorced from religion and situational ethics entirely adopted in it’s stead, then we can really speed things up by experimenting on Jews and convicts like other cultures have and do.

But we are not allowed to talk about issues.

NohOne Wednesday, October 8th at 7:19PM EST (link)

When issues are brought up, if you are not giving out the liberal talking points the libs cover their ears and say “you are just copying GWB policies”.

When you continue to talk about real issues, if you are not giving out the liberal talking points you are told you are racist.

Trying to talk more about issues, if you are not giving out the liberal talking points, then Obamas “Truth Squads” are there to use scare tactics to shut people up because they cannot have dissenting opinions being voiced.

And if you continue to try to talk about the issues, liberals are there to shout you down, saying “those are not real issues, (insert the content of your comment post here)”

Is this an issue, not really. But McCain’s health was made an issue, so why is it OK for libs to use health an issue, but not conservatives? Oh, that is right, start back at the beginning of my post to see why.

“The ACORN doesn’t fall far from the tree” – Senator Obama 10/8/2008

Not true.

Uma Richie (Diary) Thursday, October 9th at 2:42AM EST (link)

My proposal was suboptimal and made necessary by today’s journalistic voyeurism. We absolutely should not water the process down further. If reproductive organs were necessary for the preservation of life, I would not have made such a suggestion.

One other note, I was thinking about the McCain medical records release format and believe that it should serve as the model for the other candidates. My guess is that details of the Pres/VP’s medical conditions are classified information. Making the records available for review by a small, but representative group of news medical editors in a tightly controlled environment is wholly appropriate.
