Palin Won. Ifill Showed Her Bias. Biden Embarrassed Obama While Palin Did Not Embarrass McCain. Paging Kathleen Parker et al

Bumped up top by reader request so we can keep celebrating last night’s crushing victory by Palin before we get all depressed reading Pej and Blackhedd. :-)

  1. Paging Kathleen Parker, Connor whatshisname, etc: If you still want to talk about Palin dropping out, you have beltwayitis and need to leave the NYC-DC corridor of talking heads and cocktail parties for the real United States.

  2. Gwen Ifill showed her bias tonight repeatedly. She constantly let Joe Biden have the last word. Constantly. Something like 3 to 1. Likewise, she predicated questions negatively toward Palin like the gay marriage issue in Alaska.

  3. This has got to be embarrassing to the Obama campaign: “But Barack Obama indicated to me he wanted me with him tohelp him govern. So every major decision he’ll be making, I’ll be sitting in the room to give him my best advice. ” Yep, Biden admits the stereotype: Little Barry needs Joe in the room because Barry can’t make decisions by himself.

  4. Palin devastated Biden. She put him on the defensive. She made him sigh repeatedly. He rolled his eyes, licked his teeth, talked down, pontificated, and really did himself few favors. About the only major point score for Biden was talking about being a single parent.

  5. Biden repeatedly exaggerated, got it wrong, and flat out lied on the coal issue. Not helpful for them.

  6. At the end of the day, the debate won’t matter. In the Luntz focus group on Fox (btw, Biden won the CNN one, but the Luntz one was done by a professional company that specializes in getting it right, unlike CNN, though the Luntz panel thought Obama won last week), most everyone thought Palin won, but very few of the committed changed their minds.

Palin Lost

jimbojones Thursday, October 2nd at 10:36PM EST (link)

Not by much, but she certainly didn’t win. She was favored to, and had a chance to, but she didn’t. She did prove to a lot of folks that she won’t be taken off the ticket. People who called for her to be removed need to retract that. That’s good for her.

She avoided a lot of the questions. Biden was very straightforward and answered the questions. Palin way exceeded expectations. Perhaps expectations shouldn’t have been set so darn low. In the end, the debate won’t change anything. Expect a continued Obama increase in the polls.

He should be ashamed of himself, the way he faked choking up when talking about his injured child.

I’m tired of the Dems pretending that they care about children when they have no problem aborting the innocent.

Then they have the nerve to condemn Palin because she opposes abortion in cases of rape and incest. The baby didn’t do anything wrong. Any incidental discomfort the woman bears in bringing the child to term is minimal compared to the value of the human life.

Well, you watched the wrong debate...

dbecraft Thursday, October 2nd at 10:45PM EST (link)

It was not only clear that Palin connected with the people but the Biden was the professional politician that “tried” to connect – lost cause.

I understand your confusion, but if you have been listening to politicians for years, you would not recognize a real person if they collided with you.

That’s okay, I understand though – after being told by politicians that the world is fine and they are going to protect you (by politicians) and protect your savings (by politicians), and they will save you (by politicians) that you could be confused.

That’s okay, the world will continue to revolve without those politicians, but you may never know it.

One of these days, we will throw out the lot of them and elect farmers – them the United States may survive. Not likely though with voters like you…

Something I saw on CNN Post-debate. Soledad O’brien was hosting a post-debate focus group and held a raised-hand poll of who won. First for Biden, after which she commented “there was an overwhelming majority.” When asked for Palin, she commented there were a “handfull.” However, when I paused and couned the votes, out of the 32 people there, 13 raised hands for Biden, while there are clearly 15 for Palin with 4 not voting. An overwhelming victory, indeed. Have it on my DVR, will try to up a copy to the net.

Obviously libs are rattled when they are lying while the truth is directly visible to the viewing public.

Palin did well enough to not make matters worse...

Siberian Thursday, October 2nd at 10:53PM EST (link)

She did better here then she did in the Couric interviews which is great. But, the whole debate seems largely a draw to me. Though the instant ‘polls’ of independent voters seem to say otherwise, again favoring Obama/Biden over McCain/Palin, so in 24 hours this may end up like the first debate and going from a draw to a win for the Obama camp.

I suspect for the rest of the election after the Couric interviews that (hopefully!) the McCain campaign will keep Palin away from media interviews. She does great on the stump and held her own well enough not to do damage to herself or McCain in this debate. Hopefully this will put an end to some of the focus on how badly she answers questions in 1 on 1 interviews.

That said Biden avoid any pitfalls as far as gaffes or talking down to Palin in a way that might offend viewers. He didn’t make any progress and didn’t do any damage.

Overall though, this isn’t going to change anything, which isn’t good for McCain. I’m sure the Obama camp is pleased with the debate, Biden did no damage to himself or Obama and no game changing moments occured. It’s not good for McCain, he really needs something to shift the momentum away from Obama in the next four weeks.

Yup, that's probably the biggest win out of this debate.

Siberian Thursday, October 2nd at 10:55PM EST (link)

Palin did more for her own career then she did for McCain’s tonight imo.

Not that is a dig against her, but with the way things were for her going in this is exactly what she needed.

There is a disconnect

Hoover Thursday, October 2nd at 10:56PM EST (link)

People in Washington and the media elite just don’t get it. WE DO NOT LIKE YOU. You may be fine people but you are not a positive for this country but the problem with this country. Real america will respond to the person who is one of us. She never wanted to be a washington insider, she never had a goal to be a politician, she just wanted to change her local school and it took off from there.

The McCain camp needs to get her out there to connect with the people. She is us, she thinks about things like everyone else in the real america and doesn’t care to impress the elites or be part of that culture.

She is a star because she is not a politician but a real person who has real problems she deals with just like all of us. She connects to everyday america.

Partisan?

soupyman10 Thursday, October 2nd at 10:58PM EST (link)

Now I’m in no way saying that a number of websites – Wonkette, Huffington, etc. – aren’t partisan, but for some reason I was under the impression that this site was “non-partisan.” Does Red State even claim this? These entries, and the comments, are so out-of-reality it blows me away. Obviously, both sides of the argument have legit points – to ignore them is to be that crazy old lady on the corner who throws cats at people. But come on people, give me something to work with…in no way did Ifill, Palin, or Biden embarrass themselves (I felt they all performed fairly well, if the debate was beyond boring by the end), and in no way did one side “defeat” the other. How can either side possibly expect to be deemed legit if they make such ludicrous, unrealisic comments?

It was not only clear that Palin connected with the people…

It was clear to you. I watched with a different perspective, and to me that wasn’t so clear at all. The difference between us is that I’m willing to suspend my bias and admit that this was virtually a dead heat. Palin made no major screw ups, but neither did she do anything that is likely to win over any undecided voters. Her answers were vague, and only rarely answered the question that was asked her. Biden made a few minor flubs, but also didn’t really do anything to make or lose any ground. In the end, I would be seriously surprised to see this debate have any noticeable effect on the polls one way or the other.

The last word

weave (Diary) Thursday, October 2nd at 11:14PM EST (link)

I’d like to see a careful and honest analysis of the last word issue. I don’t think it’s as bad as many here think.

There were two times I noticed where they were each given one extra chance, ie, got the opening and closing word on a question.

Near the beginning, I think the third question, it opened with Palin, went to Biden, Palin responded, then Biden, and finally Palin was given the last word, hence getting an extra turn.

Then towards the end Biden gave a first reply, Palin replied, then Biden barged in and talked over the moderator who tried to ask the next question and forced himself into an extra turn. It was rude, and the moderator did not in turn give Palin a chance to respond to re-balance it.

As for the first/last, it seemed to be following a pattern of each got two questions to answer first, then two where they answered last — but towards the end that didn’t seem to the the case — so I’m thinking Biden was given more last words.

Too bad I didn’t record it to go back and count.

But the butting in part was the rudest part of the entire debate, and that prize goes to Biden.

WHAT! You must be a troll!

lefty Thursday, October 2nd at 11:15PM EST (link)

How dare you imply that Sarah Palin didn’t win by a landslide! Them’s fightin’ words around here!

Seriously, though… Doesn’t it bother you that by your own admission, your party’s VP nominee can’t do one of the most fundamental jobs that any politician must do and communicate her message with the media? Whatever your opinion of the media, any politician will have to deal with them. If she can’t even give a coherent interview, how do you expect her to win people over to her views? And this is a woman who has a degree in journalism no less!

I also thought he looked grumpy at times while Palin seemed to keep her cool and avoid the deer in the headlights look she had in her other interviews with Gibson and Couric.

Bear in mind that the moderator

Obviously one of the “Kos Kidz”. You might be allowed a second post.

Proclamations of winners and losers by partisan commentators are so predictable, so I’ll refrain from proclaiming and simply give a trivial and entirely predictable partisan response point by point.

1) Re Kathleen Parker – only a total meltdown in the debate would have led Palin to drop out, which would have been a total disaster for McCain.

2) I wasn’t keeping count and I’m sure I’m not alone.

3) I think this is wishful thinking. Exceedingly wishful thinking.

4) Were we watching the same debate? My reaction was that he presented himself as informed, passionate, polite and decidedly not condescending.

5) Republican partisans will wholeheartedly agree. Democratic partisans will wholeheartedly disagree. None of them matter, however.

6) We agree.

Partisan’s opinions don’t matter, including mine. If they don’t sit on their hands, they’ll vote for their party. Of the undecided voters, I wouldn’t get too hung up on facts. Everyone is too busy to bother with those. For most, when choosing who they’ll support, facts matter far less than their emotional response to their overall perception of candidates demeanor, knowledge, disposition, authenticity, passion, humor, courteousness and variety of other measurables and unmeasurables.

tonight. Biden, at times I thought, looked like he was expecting a pushover victory but had no idea she was going to come out swinging the way she did.
Biden did have a little more command of the actualy issues and inside-Washington stuff, but a lot of it was innacurate. Whether or not it gets noticed by the mainstream media is a different story.
Palin has gotten me interested in the race again, but I know there’s an uphill climb. Get her to Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Colorado ASAP!

Not the point

Aaron G Thursday, October 2nd at 11:31PM EST (link)

The point wasn’t that her poll was or was not scientific, nor that it was an overwhelming Palin victory. Rather, she asked for a show of hands for Biden. When about half went up she commented that it was “an overwhelming majority.” Then where she asked for Palin, she commented “a handful for gov. Palin.” In reality, it was obvious to anyone glancing at the TV that it was about dead-even, not an “overwhelming majority” and that if anything Palin won. It’s another clear example of the MSM being in bed with Obama, one that is obvious to anyone that can count to 15…

It’s a legitimate gripe. She should know how to say the word correctly by now, especially with her long career in front of the camera. As far as my spelling goes, I spelled the word the way they said it. Sorry for the obscurity of my humor, I assumed that would be understood. These are my first couple of posts here, and I will try to be more clear in any future posts.

I feel compassion for Sen. Biden’s loss and do not belittle his choking-up. I do belittle his “exaggeration” about the driver of the other vehicle.

I think Palin won this debate on the fact that she spoke above the media and straight to the American people. Also, she made far fewer mistakes.

Polls primarily measure the previous performance

Beaglescout (Diary) Friday, October 3rd at 1:42AM EST (link)

Polls primarily measure the previous performance.

This is something I noticed by watching American Idol. Once the weakest contestants were gone, the voters for American Idol would punish the contestant who had the worst performance the previous week every time. I have no idea why this is so, but my wife loves those contest shows and it proves out on all of them.

Luntz measures the VP debate viewers’ reactions as they watch the debate. Thus they are grounded in the moment and recall their actual experience in the debate. But if he polled them in the morning after they slept on it, they would average in their opinion of Palin from the Couric interviews and SNL routines and report that she hadn’t done as well. What Palin has to do to overcome this lagged judgment is step up her game, just like she did tonight, every single day. McCain too. Remember “Fight fight fight”? Get inside the OODA loop and stay there. They have to challenge the hostile assumptions in reporters’ questions, or artfully change the subject away from the distractions and other okey-doke* to the issues that matter.

And when the Democrats, especially Obama and his private thug army ACORN, are guilty guilty guilty of causing the subprime mortgage fiasco and preventing anyone with sense from fixing the looming problems McCain and Palin need to say so every time they are in front of a mike. They can make their message stronger by saying that Social Security and Medicare are going to be just like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, only much bigger, and are also being immobilized in a financial trap by Democrats. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not just a terrible thing that just happened. They are a harbinger of a much worse collapse to come. $55 trillion in commitments anyone? Who will pay? Not Rangel-Murtha-Jefferson-Pelosi-Reid’s incompetent, corrupt, do-nothing Congress.

Nota Bene: RE Distractions. Everybody can use those Obamaisms. “Distractions” is an especially good word to defuse a gotcha question, because in order to understand it you need to experience it, to become distracted to some degree, and that lessens and cushions the impact of the gotcha attack. That’s why Obama uses it, because he is hypnotizing you the listener.

Correction

odubfan Friday, October 3rd at 2:27AM EST (link)

Nice sting, Stang! I’ll be sure to remember that, and not continue to use the incorrect one over and over in a seemingly deliberate manner. My humor, in making note of her and Bush insisting on nuculer (despite having speechwriters and other advisors around them), is, certainly, derisive. Two points Stang. One does not have to be completely perfect, however, in order to begin pointing out other people’s imperfections. There would, otherwise, be no politics. In this case, I believe it is important. Someone who is running to be one of the few people on the planet with the power to hit the button, after all, probably ought to know how to say the word on the button.

Why do you concern yourself with such inanities, odubfan?

stang (Diary) Friday, October 3rd at 3:35AM EST (link)

Will it matter to you how Mahmoud Ahmadinejad pronounces nuclear when he presses his button?

And you have much to learn if you think that politics consists of pointing out other’s imperfections. Why don’t you come back when you actually have something more substantitive than your puerile, ad hominem attacks to offer.

“The Seven Deadly Sins that will destroy us are: Knowledge without character. Business without morality. Science without humanity. Worship without sacrifice. Pleasure without conscience. Politics without principle. Wealth without work.”

Please read the first two paragraphs of the Wikipedia article, and see if you don’t understand the situation after that. Bosniaks are Bosnian Muslims, and along with Bosnian Serbs and Bosnian Croats, make up the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (Biden mentioned all three.) Bosniaks are about 48% of the country’s population. Just as some Serbians still call themselves “Yugoslavians,” I would imagine even Bosniaks (let alone other Bosnian ethnic refugees) calling themselves “Bosnian” when in the US, because it’s the more inclusive and widely understood term.

I do wish Palin hit Biden on judges. At the end of the debate Biden mentions how he learned that “ideology matters.” We could go through the whole laundry list of SCOTUS appts and Dem appalling responses. Obiden try to put pass themselves off as post-partisans but Biden’s seemingly simple statement at the end of the debate shows it’s BS while reinforcing the Country First message. It also says whole lot about OBiden and where they will lead this country. Missed opportunity.

I counted last word based on when Ifill stopped one topic and asked a brand new question. If she turned to one or the other to ask for follow up I didn’t count that as a last word.

Ifill was biased and Palin did a fantastic job, but Biden did fine and did not embarass his campaign.

We’ve all watched a ton of these debates. Biden’s performance was probably better than average–think Gore-Kemp, Cheney-Lieberman, Cheney-Edwards. Certainly, he did better than Kemp did in ’96, or Quayle in ’88, and I think probably better than most.

But Palin was magnificent. And I am thrilled. Even if we lose this go-around, we have a leader for the 2010 cycle, and a frontrunner for 2012.

I thought she did exceptionally well

Danielle Davis (ocleverone) (Diary) Friday, October 3rd at 9:16AM EST (link)

The MSM has been desperately trying to portray her as a unqualified, stuttering bimbo with no substance. She absolutely proved them wrong last night.

As a woman, Joe Biden’s facial expressions during parts of the debate creeped me out. The eye rolling, the smirks and sneers made it very clear to me that he deemed her presence on the stage with him as less than serious. I found myself asking, would he have the same condescending expressions if he were being slapped around by a man? My answer was no. So, in my opinion, he viewed her as a woman, then an opponent. Bad move Joe.

Biden’s use of statistics at the beginning of the debate were contrived and an eye glosser. Not because they were statistics, but because he rambled about them. It was a tactic to make him look very smart and intimidating. Sorry, but unless you run around doing matrices in your head, you are not a geek and don’t play one on tv.

Sarah came across as relatable, smart and tough. She hit her stride and I personally loved the lines “say it ain’t so Joe” and “there ya go Senator, looking backwards again”. I think that her message resonated and her swipe at the MSM was wonderful.

I do wish they would stop calling themselves mavricks…let others do that.

In my eyes, as a middle class woman, mom, wife, etc., this was a clear win for Palin in spite of Ifill failing to perform her moderator duties by making Biden tow the line.

To me, “consensus” seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects … There are still people in my party who believe in “consensus” politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors … I mean it. — Margaret Thatcher

Biden told 14 lies in all

Dave_in_Fla (Diary) Friday, October 3rd at 9:23AM EST (link)

This wasn’t the only one.

Here is the full list lifted from the McCain web site (I suspect they won’t object  )

  1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.
  1. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.

  2. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”

  3. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.

  4. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.

  5. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.

  6. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false

  7. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska — she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it’s not a windfall profits tax.

  8. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.

  9. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation — he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.

  10. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.

  11. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.

  12. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”

  13. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

I actually heard someone say that she spoke in coherent sentences so we won. The standard for a Republican candidate has devolved to being able to point a coherent sentence together. She did not address a single topic presented to her but instead referenced her prepared talking points. This is why she fails so miserably in interviews, she can not fall back to her prepared statements. She contradicted McCains positions several times, including the bankruptcy protection for homeowners that ABC is covering this morning. Look I am an independent and voted for Bush in 2004, but as an American I am scared that we expect so little from our leaders now. The minimum should be a level of intelligence we would expect when hiring the leader of our company.

Tone and other random thoughts

Right_Again (Diary) Friday, October 3rd at 9:37AM EST (link)

Governor Palin won this debate with her tone. She was upbeat, smiling, friendly, common, approachable and happy. Senator Biden was downbeat, frowny, scowly, elitist, unlikable and negative.

I know in which America I prefer to live.

I hope people shout, “conflict of interest” at Gwen Ifill for the rest of her life. She had no business whatsovever throwing her name in the pool of potential moderators knowing that she was writing a book about one of the candidates. Unforgivable.

The McCain campaign needs to stop requiring Governor Palin to be a John McCain cheerleader. They are her weakest, most-rehersed sounding moments.

Sarah Palin is the reason I will vote for John McCain.

No smoking gun in the debate ? No Silver bullet ? Both sides declare victory as loudly as they can.

The problem is the left is much much louder than we are and VP debates aren’t the highest rated material on television.

The big problem is once again the near total stranglehold the left has on the media. Its not that Gwen Ifill was biased. Its that so few people are aware of the bias.

I had people speak to me today and every time I asked if they knew that she had written a book on the significance of the Obama presidency, I got blank stares. This is our problem unless we have a knockout we lose. In 2004 we got our knockout when the president made that phenomenal comeback in the debates. This time it seems not so much.

Barack went on Fox News against Bill O’Riley and more than held his own in a pretty hard hitting interview. Sarah Palin completely fell apart against Katie Couric in a completely soft-ball interview. That’s what worries me.

Palin Is Gaining Steam In The Media

Swamp_Yankee (Diary) Friday, October 3rd at 10:28AM EST (link)

Last night, the MSM seemed suprised by how Palin exceeded expectations, but quickly declared Biden the winner.

That’s changing. Palin is coming out of this as the clear cut winner.

U.S. News has a good breakdown:

He lost his wife and daughter…I disagree with him on just about everything politically but to say he was faking when he mentioned the hell he went through seems a little to crass for my liking.

It can be argued he shouldn’t have dragged his personal tragedy into the debate to make a political point…but the same could be said for McCain and his POW years…I think both are legitimate points to be made when discussing the formative events that make these people who they are…and I can’t see why you would think he faked choking up when discussing a hellish experience!?

Which debate were you watching?

CountryFirst0_8 Friday, October 3rd at 11:16AM EST (link)

If we are ever going to move forward we need to give credit where credit is due and that goes for all Americans, Republicans and Democrats. Although Palin did a good job at showing that she is articulate and an advanced student who can stay on message with McCain’s policy guidelines (which is better than you can say about other politicians), she showed that she is still years away from deeply understanding a great number of issues with the knowledge that experiencing world travel, global business and political events in first person, economic programming for large audiences (not just 8,000 people village or a small state with less population than a major US city) for an extended period of time brings to those who have both the smarts and this experience first had. She is pleasant, for sure, but incapable of running the complex endeavor of leading the United States of America. There are hundreds of women (and men) who are more capable from an administration and political perspective, and I still think that McCain’s ‘maverick’ ways would only put our beloved country at high risk in many areas with his choosing of Palin as his running mate.

She's an annalist for NBC as well

She’s always been a partisan hack parading as an objective journalist…but then…aren’t they all?

The big problem is once again the near total stranglehold the left has on the media. Its not that Gwen Ifill was biased. Its that so few people are aware of the bias.

That’s why I so disagree with so many here that say we sound like whining when we complain about media bias and that we need to just rise above it and speak directly to the American People…the problem is that the so called objective press filters and edits everything we say to the American People…We need to be out there calling them on it at every opportunity.

Seize every opportunity to say early and often that the American People are being lied to by the very people tasked by the First Amendment with insuring that the voting public are casting an informed vote on election day!

Oreilly didn't ask Barry to answer questions about some long ago issue position of his running mate...

AceInTX (Diary) Friday, October 3rd at 12:48PM EST (link)

and continue needling him to come up with an answer when he’d obfuscated and moved the conversation along with his answer. Oreilly asked him straight up and honest questions as opposed to Couric who asked gotcha question after gotcha question followed by pregnant pauses allowing Palin to hang herself…I’d also point out that Gibsons and Couric’s interviews were heavily edited…we didn’t see her when she was on…we saw cut after cut when she stumbled!

But that’s not the point I made is it?

You said she couldn’t put two coherent sentences together. Well…let me draw a contrast for you…

Sarah Palin had teleprompter problems during the Republican Convention but kept the speech flowing seamlessly buy throwing in a couple jokes and stories while waiting for the teleprompter to catch up.

Contrast that to Obama’s speech a week ago…I forget the Forum at the moment…but McCain and Obama both spoke there. Barry had to stop numerous times and sit there like a knot on a log waiting for the Prompter to tell him what to say…

So, does Sarah Palin have a hard time answering questions posed by an obviously hostile interrogator who has made it plain they are out to trip you up and embarass you?…I guess you win the argument on that point…

But in contrast…does Sarah know what she believes enough to talk to the public about what she believes without a prompter telling her what she thinks…I would say yes…does Barry?…Inquiring minds want to know!

you guys always leave out the fact that she’s a Governor…why is that exactly?

Second…you attack he lack of experience and belittle what she does have…but you fail to point out that she has more executive experience than Barry who’s only experience has been registering Democrat Voters as a community organizer…representing Acorn and helping them secure sub prime mortgages for people that couldn’t afford to pay them…campaigning for Senate…and Campaigning for president from the time he took the oath of office in the US Senate..

Third…Third you make fun of her lack of travel to foreign countries while ignoring the fact that Barry hadn’t left the country till he went on his world messiah tour, refused to meet with wounded soldiers in Germany when he was just blocks away from them…and didn’t bother visiting Iraq till shamed into it by the McCain Campaign…

Finally…whether there are other people who are better qualified to run things from an administrative or political perspective…I’d say…first of all…she’s running against Barry and Biden…and not those hypothetical people you are talking about…and she made a damn fine showing last night that she’s at least as qualified as Biden in these areas…and likely as much vs Barry

Obama inexperience Key

angels16 Friday, October 3rd at 6:59PM EST (link)

With Palin doing a much better job than Biden in the VP debate, I think it’s time to start hitting Obama where it hurts: His Inexperience!
Just as Obama tries to tie McCain to Bush, McCain needs to tie Obama to major inexperience, bad judgement, and Political manuvering (saying what people want to hear at the time, and then changing his position to suit every voter). Obama is a Political Animal, seeking a place that is higher than his current status allows. One just does not serve 2 years in the senate and think that they are ready to run the country. It takes time to develop a head for policies that work, what the people want, and how to best work in a Bi-Partisan way. McCain has proved himself in all of the above, and he alone has the experience to lead us ahead in this climate of war and economic upheaval. IT’s more than the economy, it’s about foreign policy with Russia (who is a resurgent giant that wants it’s respect back, and a return to the Cold War), Iran (who wants to wipe Israel off the Earth and bring to ruin the West, and have Nuclear weapons), North Korea (Who continues to want more out of the deal with the 6 nations, and is restarting it’s reactor to make more Nuclear material), Iraq (where we are winning, and will continue to win if we follow through there and not give it up completely. Unless Iraq has Air power, then they will have trouble), Pakistan (where the Taliban and Al-queida hide and plan their terrorist activities, and we must go in and destroy them, because they will not stop themselves, nor will Pakistan stop them, for that would be Political Suicide), and finally Afghanistan (where we must defeat Al-queida, destroy their places of hiding [tribal region in Pakistan], and capture or kill Osama bin Laden). This danger will not pass, and in the hand of someone who is inexperienced, the on the job training could seriously put America at risk for increased attacks.
Under Obama, we will lose not only face, but respect as we did under Clinton. It was the Clinton presidency that defined Osama bin Laden, and focused his wrath at us. It was Clinton that drove us from world power to the brunt of world jokes. It was Clinton that gave China our Rocket technology from NASA, and enabled them to not only charge ahead in space, but to develop an ICBM from that rocket technology. Our problems with China started with Clinton, and those problems need to be rectified. If we do not move forward in space, someone else will, and that is the final frontier, besides the ocean. Obama does not have the experience to carry the USA into World Politics, and we will falter under him, and the terrorist powers would take advantage of us. Iran is the First and most dangerous problem, and I would go into Iran first, because taking out Iraq has destabalized the power balance in the region, and to balance it back out is to take out Iran as well, and have the people put in a democratic government that allows religious freedom and personal freedom. As it is, they do not know the meaning of the word ‘Civil Rights’ or ‘personal freedom’, or ‘religious equality’. The government is full of Islamic Extremists, who do not want to negotiate, but they use the word Negotiate to stall the world while they build their weapons grade plutonium for a Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD). They shall have it in 1 year, so we must act with the world to prevent that. Russia is helping Iran with Nuclear reactors, thus violating what the UN has put forward. Russia is concerned not with terrorism, but with making as much money as it can to help fund their rise back to power. They are also very dangerous, and must be put into check. No more Proxy wars with Russia. We must take them head on, establish bases in Georgia, and make sure Russia does not violate the caucus’countries soverienty. In World War II, the caucuses were vigorously fought over because of their importance and location. Today they are just as important against a resurgent Russia. Russia does not want peace, they want back what they had, and their military is revitalizing itself. They have grown rich off of their Oil and gas money, as well as from the US giving them money for their Plutonium material. The real weapons of mass destruction are conventional weapons, because their damage radius is limited.
McCain knows foreign policy like no one else, and he understands the terrorist ideology, and can defeat it. Obama is part of the problem, being raised Muslim until he was 13, and his knowledge and bias were strong to the extremist way of thinking. His mind was warped through years of drug abuse, and his mind was not his own. Like it or not, he is damaged goods, and has not the experience to lead, and he makes very bad judgement calls. McCain is a hero who is competent, can lead this country forward in all her multi-faceted areas that require attention, and McCain will give his full attention to each and every aspect of this government and it’s people. We cannot afford to to be given over to terrorist’s and their wims by a weak president who does not know what to do.
McCain needs to keep hitting Obama on his inexperience, because he does not have the what it takes to lead this country. Obama tries unsuccessfully (or somewhat successfully) to connect McCain to Bush, even though they are totally different. McCain needs to accentuate those differences so people can see that McCain is not like Bush….not enough emphasis has been put the McCain/Bush connection, but McCain has not responded forcefully enough to dispell that. McCain needs to show each and every arera where he is different from Bush, so people can see that Obama is a liar and is trying to tie McCain to Bush even though they are not the same. This will put Obama in a corner, because people will see that Obama is telling tales, and that McCain is no more like Bush than a Whale is to a shark. Expose the differences, and Obama’s attacks will evaporate, and he will have nothing left to attack with. He will be exposed as a Prevaricator and a Fabricator, and he will start to lose his constituency. The RNC has not been doing it’s job, and people like me, who are the barometer of the Nation, see what is happening, and can tell the campaign where they need help. Sure, the economy is important, and McCain will help bring us back to prominent times, and decrease our reliability on foreign oil, and increase our investment into alternative energy, and it is where more research is needed. Obama does not have the American interests in mind. He started his campaign off by not covering his heart during the pledge of Allegiance, he did not wear a lapel pin of the American Flag, his wife said that “this is the first time I have been proud of America,” he went to a church that was racist, it divided people, and damned America against God, showed that the church was Anti semitic, and blamed Israel for our problems. He also is linked to the Terrorist AYERS, who is a terrorist bomber who was caught and convicted, but was never repentent, and Obama was his chief of staff of his company. Obama was also in the company of Prince Alwaleed of Saudi Arabia (where the 9/11 terrorists were from), and the Prince gave Obama a whole lot of dollar bills, under the table. He also made very “bad decisions” (they were conscious decisions, and he knew he was dealing with a cheater, scammer, and a criminal)on his real estate deal for his house, which was illegal and unethical and should be illegal. Rezko, who was the real estate developer who operated in the political theater, was convicted of several felony’s and is currently doing time. I can go on and on with Obama’s bad decisions and deals, but we just don’t have the time to read all of that. He is a bad seed, and he is weasling his way into the mainland of the hearts of decent Americans, and he is pulling the wool over their eyes. People of America, he is a fraud, operating both sides of the field, saying one thing to one set of voters, and another thing to another set of voters, and never the same thing being said. He is a gamer, and is not handling this contest in the spirit of honesty. He cannot honor his commitments that he has made to the American people, and he already has his excuses down as to why those campaign promises were not able to be carried out. He will blame Bush for all the problems, and blame Bush for why he cannot keep his campaign promises. We have seen Obama talk about Bush and McCain non-stop, but when the time comes for the metal to meet the meat, Obama will blame Bush for not being a good president. Obama has the orator game, but not the doing game. There is a difference between saying and doing, between the word and works. McCain knows this difference, he is the Maverik who can get things done, and will keep his campaign promises, and will help keep the world on course against terrorism, and will keep Russia from encroaching on the soverienty of foreign governments, and will stop Iran’s Nuclear intentions. Let us get behind John McCain/Sarah Palin for Presient/vice president, and keep this country moving forward.

Why not point out the obvious? Pelosi and Reid

Spiral (Diary) Friday, October 3rd at 7:52PM EST (link)

have failed the country.

During the period of time when the Republicans held both houses of Congress, 2003 through 2006, the S & P 500 (a broad meausre of the stock market) rose by 72 percent.

During the period of time when the Democrats held both houses of Congress, 2007 through today, October 2 2008, the S & P 500 declined by 18 percent.

Same for unemployment. It was under 5 percent when the Democrats took over Congress. Now it’s over 6 percent.

Why isn’t McCain and Palin mentioning this? It would help swing voters realize that if they want change, they should change Congress, not the party that holds the White House.

Obama inexperience Key

angels16 Thursday, October 9th at 10:45PM EST (link)

TC, you are absolutely correct! Congress under democratic control has gone to pot, and they are directly responsible for most things not working the way they should in this country. Congress is very Partisan, and they are constantly opposing Bush’s plans and defeating bills that could help out the American people, but they still blame Bush for it, rather than on Congress and the Pelosi witch. I have not seen a more nasty acting woman besides Michelle Obama. Pelosi and Michelle Obama would get along wonderfully…heck, between them, they could plot the downfall of the United States. I’m sure that nothing would suit them better. Michelle Obama already makes it sound like America is dark and dank, with all people being racist and cruel, and ole whitey keepin the black folks down. Without the “whitey”, they would still be slaves, and repressed in a very different way. People here, no matter what they say, have it easier here in the United States, no matter what their color, than in anywhere else in the world. Heck, having a job and a car to get to work, please…some people would kill to have those things that we consider just basic things.
We do need to revamp Congress, and let a Republican Congress work with a Republican president. I am not sure why they ever legalized Abortion…I mean, why is killing an unborn baby any different than killing one already born. We have seen in the Scott Petersen murder of Lacy and her unborn son, Scott was convicted not only of Lacy’s murder, but of the unborn baby’s murder as well. So how is what a doctor does any different than what Scott did? It’s all BS, and it is leading to our moral decline, as is redefining what a Marriage is. It is not between a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, but it is between a Man and a woman, and anything else is not natural, and should not be allowed. I am not anti-Gay, for I have many Gay friends. I am Pro-God, and love all people, no matter what or who they are, however; God does not condone homosexual behavior, and maybe it should be classified as either a Mental disorder or a Medical disorder that needs to be treated medically, and I don’t mean by a sex re-assignment surgery. These issues that Obama supports just leads to a moral decay…Why not legalize drugs as well? Can you imagine how much Taxes the government could generate over that, and at the same time cut down on crime?!!! Alcohol is a drug, and it is legal, and illegal drugs now use to be legal, so if we are talking about moral decline and taxes, we may as well go all the way. Otherwise, lets stop the nonsense and get it in gear. We are a strong nation, and we were founded by strong settlers who were also strong Christians. Everyone says that we should separate Church and state… Why? On the back of the dollar bill it says “In GOD we Trust”, and there are many instances where God is cited, I just don’t have the time or patience to go into all that right now, but that is who were are. We founded this Country from Christians, and it should stay that way, for better or worse. We have the greatest country in the world, and we are truely blessed. What we have is because God has smiled upon us. Let us not become a Sodom or a Gomorrah, and have our country become a warning for others. We have a chance to either further our country, or let it fall into the democrats hands, and tarnish it forever. Obama’s race has nothing to do with why I don’t like him. It’s his policies. If Martin Luther King Jr. were running for President today, I would vote for him, because he was a strong christian, with strong core beliefs. I am against Obama because he is a liar, saying he is a Christian while supporting Abortion and Gay marriage. No Christian would ever support those dispicable practices. That does not mean that we do not love them as people of God, we just do not like their ways, for we all have a choice on how we act, and what we do. The real choice in Pro life or Pro Choice comes right before making love, when the choice is to use birth control. That is far cheaper, less stress on the body, and morally correct verses the alternative of Abortion. People don’t want that though, they want to act irresponsible, and take the easy way out, and that is not acceptable. They should do away with abortion, and therefore make people more responsible. Thanks for the comment, spiral.
