Things have turned negative in OH-15, the battle of Steve Stivers, an Iraq war veteran, against socialist Mary Jo Kilroy, running as a Democrat.
Kilroy attacked Stivers for once working as a lobbyist for Bank One. Stivers responded that Kilroy ran a socialist newspaper. The Kilroy campaign shot back, claiming that Kilroy won an award for “excellent journalism” and that Stivers is lying about Kilroy’s time at the Free Press, the socialist newspaper Kilroy worked at.
But, ladies and gentlemen, I have found something far more damning about Mary Jo Kilroy.
Not only did Mary Jo Kilroy actively run the far left Free Press newspaper, she participated in a French socialist documentary sympathetically chronicling the struggle of the far left in America.
The documentary, “Sentimental Journey: America’s Dissidents”, by Noel Burch, “tells of Burch’s return to America and of meeting up with former leftist companions.“
Who is among those “former leftist companions”? Mary Jo Kilroy.
Below is opening video of the documentary. Kilroy is seen on film talking about the Free Press wanting to expand socialist debate to get “real change in this country. And we do this with the Free Press, which is one of the few alternatives from the sixties and seventies still in existence.” Kilroy admits the socialists are propagandizing via cable television and electoral politics. The director of the film describes Kilroy as living in “the belly of the beast,” i.e. America.
In the film, as well, we see Kilroy sharing office space with the American Indian Movement and the Socialist Democratic Party.
That’s the electoral choice in OH-15: An unrepentant socialist propagandizer versus an Iraq war veteran.

The Democrat Party is riddled with these
Jason Gillman (Diary) Monday, September 29th at 8:53AM EST (link)Many in the Democrat party are more conservative than some Republicans but remain there because of family, tradition, etc.. But what they do not see is the infestation of their ranks in the last 20 or so years by the socialist element. Kind of sad actually..
Living in OH-15: My Neighbor Has A MJ Kilroy Sign...One of Many In the Hood
SirRobert (Diary) Monday, September 29th at 9:10AM EST (link)Along with the BMO signs and bumper stickers. Enough said. A Red living in a Blue neighborhood. The battle is on but we will press forward.
Are these people socialists?
Freedoms Truth (Diary) Monday, September 29th at 9:17AM EST (link)Ask if they support Obama’s efforts with leftwing ACORN to loosen lending standards, which helped lead to the subprime lending crisis.
I am curious to know if these are hard-core leftists or ‘useful idiots’.

They are mix of both, drinking the BMO Kool-Aid...
SirRobert (Diary) Monday, September 29th at 9:37AM EST (link)We got a mix of left-over leftist (many Lesbians as well, average every one in four home here) along young BMO pups who attend OSU and living out their radical college life. Diversity is the big thought process here. Can’t talk to those who want the entitlement life. They just say “Bush sucks” and can’t get beyond that mindset. And as I said, this is a neighborhood that believes in diversity. Hum. Open minds.
I attended Univ of Mich back in the mid to late ’80′s so life in Ann Arbor prepared me for this. They say what happens in AA will be what society will look like in 15-20 years. Scary thought, but I as a conservative thought person am not surprised at what is going on today. Hang on, this is only the beginning.
This is one local democrat
clevergael Monday, September 29th at 10:20AM EST (link)that actually turns my stomach. Most of them just make me shake my head in disgust, but this woman is sneaky and dangerous when she has power. Just ask local contractor TP Electric. They got screwed as low-bidder (and initial contract winner) for the new Columbus Clippers ball park. Kilroy nearly singlehandedly destroyed this company’s reputation in the local press, and handed the electrical contract to an out-of-state UNIONIZED contractor.
Craptacular.
That just scared me senseless
mikefisk (Diary) Monday, September 29th at 10:20AM EST (link)“They say what happens in AA will be what society will look like in 15-20 years.”
I’m from Michigan (although the other part of the state), and have never heard that saying before. The only saying I’ve ever heard about AA was from a former resident who said “Ann Arbor is a great city because, no matter who you are, you’ll fit in just fine… unless you’re a Republican.” Needless to say, your comment, in that context, startled me.
It is only the beginning, though. As a self-described classical liberal, I’m scared of it for two reasons… first off, that this statist pablum is passing for intelligent political speech, and secondly, that these people have no regard whatsoever for upholding the tenets of individual freedom that serve as the underpinning of classical liberalism, while still trying to pass themselves off as “liberals”.

Spending Big To Defeat A Republican
Strelnikov (Diary) Monday, September 29th at 10:54AM EST (link)There are several ads by outside groups against Steve Stivers, who obviously does not have as much money, since his ads are not as numerous.
They contain the usual scolding tones about class warfare : “Steve Stivers! Stop supporting tax breaks for the RICH!!!”
I have been wondering why he has not mentioned his Iraq war background more.
Kilroy has mangled the truth and has some effective ads against Stivers, if you do not know the whole story.
As of November 4, 2008, the Code Words will be: “Klaatu – Borada – Nikto!”
Socialists, plain and simple
KBDay (Diary) Monday, September 29th at 11:35AM EST (link)Look at what the DNC has already done, courtesy of their willing legislators:
1. Screwed up the mortgage industry completely (“Get your loan even if you have bad credit” and “Get your Sharia-compliant loan.”)
2. Robbed those who actually work for a living: (The Wall Street Journal, ‘Their Fair Share,’ 7-21-08) “Americans with an income below the median paid a record low 2.9% of all income taxes, while the top 50% paid 97.1%. ”
3. Courtesy of point 2, the Dems trickle money to the bottom of the income ladder.
4. Set a frightening precedent for repressing free speech by getting Missouri law enforcement to act as ‘truth screeners’ for Obama ads (see the Missouri gov. site)
5. Courtesy of point 4, I have a daily visitor from a top law firm (where an attorney pledged to raise $500,000 for Obama) at my blog. I tracked a few curious IP numbers.
Courtesy of my temper, I wrote a post about that law firm just yesterday.
Finally, I noticed my Google search results fell once I really started writing my opinion of Obama and the Dems. Algorithms aside, you can’t tell me there’s not something going on. When I did a search yesterday about Palin, the first couple links went straight back to Puffington. And that was for a Web and News search.
I’d go to my grave a pauper before I stop speaking my mind about my government.
Good post, Erick.

"They say what happens in AA will be what society will look like in 15-20 years."
SirRobert (Diary) Monday, September 29th at 12:33PM EST (link)So true and for an “As a self-described classical liberal” as you state, there is plenty of proof of the extreme liberal agenda pushed by U of M in it’s “progressive” approach. Just the mention the Law School admission policy that went before the Supreme Court against the university as an example of the university’s agenda.
I was born and raised in GR and I could not mention in detail to the conservative side of the state what was going on there. Back in 1985, the East Quad already was the alternative life (sexual preference) living dorm. I attempted to be a RA at one of the dorms. The questions the housing department ask were all focus on how I could help others who did not live a homosexual life style be accepting of those who did. This was 20 years ago. Now look at current society outside AA today, and the agenda is now acceptable and endorsed.
And I could go on. So the push for socialism agenda is now in full force on society through out the land. Surprised? Not me. Remember, those students exposed to the agenda are now the leaders since U of M take in the top 5% of the student applicants and know as the Ivy League of the Public Universities. If these are the head leaders (such as those out of those Ivy League universities) of our businesses, governments, etc, they heard the agenda. Some rejected it, many accepted it and imposing it on us now in full force.
