Thanks Erick for the clip. I hope all Americans spare a time to watch this clip and think beyond partisanship in order to see what the McCain/Palin ticket is honestly offering to the people:

Glad to see McCain getting it out that Obama was the second highest recipient of funds from Fannie and Freddie in the last 20 years, and he did it in 3 short years. For a while I only heard it from Sean Hannity, and I certainly hope that everyone will start talking about it.

I guess Schmidt was at the in-laws this past week or something, or trying to get his money out of his WaMu account. Or perhaps the campaign took a pause to transition from the silly to the meaty. Whatever the reason I’m glad McCain is back. A great moment here.

This type of talk will play very well here. If McCain is maintaining the lead he has now in 4 weeks, then we’ll be in good shape. Ohio voters very much mirror the conscience of the national community, and right now, a conservative-oriented populism is a great idea. Keep up the good work, John/Sarah!

His stump speech was great. He had some good lines about the financial meltdown. He’s also obviously a much better speaker in person with a smaller crowd. Much fun, and the crowd was very enthusiastic. Lotta happy McCainiacs in Tampa today.

It needs to be repeated over and over that Obama IS NOT in touch with the issues of the average American family when he goes over to Hollywood to schmooze with the elitests.

It’d be great if they could do some targeted commercials in those key battleground states, especially Michigan.

How about “if you love Jennifer Granholm’s tax increases, you’ll love Obama’s”?

IF…IF Gallup is to be believed, things have tightened up again, with Big Brobama gaining a few points in the last week.

Why?

Pushing this as an ad would break the logjam, along with sending money to the group pushing the ad by the girl who survived an abortion.

Initiative and energy: attacking the Dems on how THEIR policies on Wall Street and easy money for people who cannot afford mortgages helped to cause part of the mess, attacking them for pushing defeat in Iraq, reminding voters of Big Brobama’s radical resume, plus…

…IF it turns out to be true…the possibly very big scandal of the Big Brobama trying to sweet-talk the Iraqi government into helping him get elected by delaying troop withdrawals.

We need direct confirmation by the Iraqi foreign minister and/or prime minister. That would be a marvelous late September surprise!

AND…where are the Clintons? Do they not possibly have something up their sleeves for October?

Love seeing McCain on the attack like this. He looks poised, focused, confident and Presidential.

One thing I would like to hear more of on this topic is the connection between Obama’s policies/philosophy and the corrupt/incompetent business practices of Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac. There is a reason Obama got more money than almost anyone in the Congress from them in the short time he’s been in office. It should be incongruous with his assertion that he’s the one best suited to heal this type of economic problem.

I don’t know where this came from. I just wonder where it was for the last 6 months.

Why didn’t McCain state that HE TOO has received SUBSTANTIAL contributions from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Also, Arthur Culvahouse, who helped McCain “vet” on his VP choice, is a former LOBBYIST for FANNIE MAE. Why not say that, as well? Oh yes, the truth doesn’t really work for McCain unless he distorts it entirely.

The “celebrity” bit is sort of funny, but for the wrong reasons. John McCain had been seen visiting Anne Hathaway (from the Devil Wears Prada, ha!) and her ex-boyfriend (a convicted felon) at their yacht. Sarah Palin allows Entertainment Tonight (ET) to travel with her but hasn’t done the media rounds so that the everyday citizen can figure out where she stands on policy. A large contingent of paparazzi follow her and her family.

BUT, all we can say is that Barack Obama is a celebrity, because he went to a fund raising event that was scheduled weeks in advance… Hmm. I think McCain should rethink his strategy.

Just to correct myself, Arthur Culvahouse is not the only “former” lobbyist for these giants of commerce that is currently working for John McCain. AT LEAST 20 of his staffers have lobbied for Freddie or Fannie including Rick Davis, McCain’s campaign manager, who worked hard to decrease control and regulation over Freddie and Fannie. If you don’t believe me, Politico has an entire story regarding the mortgage ties in both campaigns.

I just don’t get why McCain would use this as a form of attack when he too is guilty of the same thing. Obama took money and Jim Johnson was pretty much the only link to Freddie and Fannie (Johnson has since been let go back in June). McCain takes money (maybe not as much, but he still takes it) and has at least 20 Fannie and Freddie lobbyists runnings important aspects of his campaign. So, why bring it up and try to distort, distort, distort? This is reprehensible. If Obama did this, I’d criticize him too but he knew that he couldn’t get away with such an argument. McCain should have known this as well.

I was at that rally yesterday. The guy who introduced Cindy McCain (who introduced Palin who inroduced McCain himself) was the former head of the local Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union and former head of the local AFL-CIO and is (obviously) a life-long Democrat.

And there was a woman there with a sign that said “Retired union worker now lipstick Republican.”

The other thing to note is that while McCain drew about 6,000 people to the airport, which is out in the boonies 20 minutes north of downtown Youngstown and not near much of anything, Biden will be in downtown Youngstown tomorrow (Thursday) and the Dems are only expecting about 1,000 people.
