Sarah Palin. An Amazing, Historic, Epic Win.

Image descriptionSarah Palin took to the podium tonight and gave the speech of a lifetime, perhaps the best nationally broadcast political introduction in the convention history, and a knock out blow to the Obama-Biden campaign and their pals in the media.

Governor Palin’s performance was phenomenal. It was amazing to be inside the XCEL Center listening, seeing the crowd’s reaction, and seeing Governor Palin take the fight to opposition.

The media has pushed the Obama campaign’s narrative for days that Governor Palin does not have enough experience to be Vice President. Tonight, she proved the media wrong. She proved the media frauds. She proved she’s tough, she’s a fighter, and yes, she can lead.

Governor Sarah Palin could lead on day one. She is ready to be President.

But Governor Palin is not running for President. She is running for Vice President with more experience than Senator Obama has and better experience than Joe Biden has.

John McCain chose wisely.

After tonight, it is clear the media’s reaction to Sarah Palin was hyperbolic, false, and filled with the anger of a Democratic opposition just now recognizing what a threat Governor Palin is to their established order.

Sarah Palin is the real deal.

Don’t doubt it.

They showed this blog post and talked about how conservatives were fired up.

The so-called liberals of today have the very popular idea that freedom of speech, of thought, of the press, freedom of religion, freedom from imprisonment without trial–that all these freedoms can be preserved in the absence of what is called economic freedom. They do not realize that, in a system where there is no market, where the government directs everything, all those other freedoms are illusory, even if they are made into laws and written up in constitutions.

Looked like a puppet

indie Wednesday, September 3rd at 11:27PM EST (link)

I’m an independent who was leaning towards McCain, but I’m still shaking my head at his choice of running mate.

It seems that both parties are guilty of drinking their own kool-aid and being caught in their own reality distortion fields. So, I can’t blame the Republicans for seeing what they want to see.

But for someone who is outside of both parties, I saw a speech that was being delivered by someone who came off as an actress… someone who was speaking someone else’s words rather than her own.

God help us if we ever woke up to the terrible news that McCain has passed away during his presidency and Palin has been made the leader of the free world. I truly believe that she would not have a clue on how to carry out the duties of her office and I would be very concerned about who was pulling her puppet strings.

I was hoping to hear a speech where she could demonstrate leadership qualities and independent thought. But what I saw was someone who seemed to be focused more on her delivery rather than on sharing her deep thoughts on what this country should be and where it should go.

I don’t know. I’m still up in the air. For me, McCain’s choice has made me re-think my support for him. The Obama camp, with Obama’s lack of experience and the threat of crippling taxes, is hard to get behind completely. But I can’t imagine this woman having to deal with the likes of Vladmir Putin if she was ever thrust into the role of President.

You are worried about Palin’s inexperience? She is the Vice-President candidate. Your other choice is a man who wants to be PRESDIDENT on Jan 20th. He has NO EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE. What that means, Indie, is he has NEVER been in charge of anything before. NEVER handled a budget, never had to make a decision that had any serious ramifications. How can you be afraid of Palin’s inexperience when the most inexperienced candidate is Obama BY FAR. Indie, I think you have been desensitized by all the rhetoric that you have read and heard. And now you can’t recognize the genuine article when you see it. I live in Illinois. We are almost dead last in job creation, have the highest sales tax in the country (Cook county, home of Chicago), and a reputation for having the most inept and crooked state and city governments in the country (All Democratically controlled). She’s nobody’s puppet. That was one thing that was clear to me. She may have been more conscious of her delivery than would seem acceptable, but that is because at events like these, they have a hundred handlers telling them what to do, what not to do, and I’m sure that is overwhelming. I’ve seen that “over-handled” look in most politicians on these stages as long as I can remember.

The attitude of the press is just amazing

bk (Diary) Wednesday, September 3rd at 11:52PM EST (link)

Eugene Robinson is nearly as obnoxious as Keith Olbermann on MSDNC. Tonight he argued that it’s a bad idea for the McCain campaign to attack the press because they are going to “need” the press if they want to have a chance of winning.

After the Palin speech, Olbermann pointed out that some Ted somebody is reporting for the AP that Palin is a hypocrite because she introduced her family after telling the press they were off limits. No doubt he’d be reporting that she was so crass as to be hiding her family had she not introduced them.

Robinson added that tomorrow the WaPo is featuring a troopergate story, and that it’s just one step forward of many to come. He sounded really proud of their planned “death by 1,000 cuts” approach.

I sure hope the average person is seeing through this crap and tiring of it.

With all due respect, your opinion sounds like you lack comprehension skills. I mean, if during that entire speech you did not catch anything on taxes, energy (especially) and foreign policy, you must either have dozed off or are cutting and pasting a talking point. I believe she was speaking in English, not Tagalog.

Second, if you’re really looking for leadership qualities, whatever happened to looking at her deeds? She is the Governor of a state and she has done quite a lot (as even Joe Biden has had to admit). For one example, she recently concluded negotiations with the Canadian government on the construction of a massive gas pipeline through Canada to the lower 48 – it would be the largest infrastructure project in the history of Northern America.

That’s impressive, even for an “Independent” like you, don’t you think?

"The Speech": Reagan Redux

Section9 Thursday, September 4th at 12:02AM EST (link)

Why are Republicans happy?

They haven’t seen this kind of person, this kind of commitment to Conservatism, since Reagan left us.

She is uncompromising, and her conservatism is the kind that is without exclusion. She adds to the Party, she doesn’t subtract from it.

I predict that the discovery of Sarah Palin by John McCain will be as important to this era of conservatism as the Speech by Reagan given in 1964 was to the Foundational Era. Reagan’s speech was far more thematic and principled, but her speech carried many of the same principles forward.

There will come a time when we will tell each other that we all know where we were when Sarah Palin made her Speech. We were there At the Beginning. When we got to start all over again, and recommit ourselves to the principles of Ronald Reagan with a new leader.

She’s that important. She proved that to me tonight.

Sarah knows what she is talking about. Let’s wait and see the fireworks when she rips Biden a new one. I think Joe is having another aneurysm right now.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

o Giving the date of a deployment (wait, I thought you just said she didn’t do that) might be an OpSec issue, and oh BTW his FOB to be was leaked to a right-wing blog which is just awful.
o I don’t recall the third one, but you get the idea.

Poor Keith is also stretching for things to foam at the mouth about. He keeps harping on how horrible it was for Palin and Rudy to slam “community organizers”.

The desperation of these pieces of (you know what) is showing quite plainly.

I am not sure...

NohOne Thursday, September 4th at 12:04AM EST (link)

(Go easy on me, first post here…)

I was not sure if I wanted to vote for McCain – he was not conservative enough for me. There was no way I was going to vote for Barry, but I was not sure about McCain. He was not my first choice.

With the MSM in the bag for Barry, and the left’s actions over the past few months (how either of them have acted was not unexpected), I started to be swayed, and was firmly going to vote for McCain. Even though it would not make a difference here in the People’s Republic State of Washington.

After her speech tonight, now I am not sure I want to vote for McCain…

I want to vote Palin for President, and McCain the VP.

What would really be impressive...

indie Thursday, September 4th at 12:12AM EST (link)

…was if she outlined a real energy plan to turn the country around instead of just attacking someone else’s position with no solution of her own. Clean coal from Pennsylvania is not going to save us. T Boone Pickens is right. We need to get off of the dependence of foreign oil because it’s a game that’s stacked against us. We simply don’t own all the resources that we need when it comes to oil and as such, we’re just giving the country away to buy it from foreigners.

We need a call to action in this country to develop new energy technologies that not only we could use ourselves, but what we could sell to the rest of the world. That would truly ensure that we maintain our leadership position within the world and it would start bringing the wealth back to this country instead of us having to watch it slip away.

Well, I was impressed with her literacy. Finally the GOP parades someone out there who can read from a teleprompter. I thought for a while there the strategy was to play to illiterates by BEING illiterate (Bush and McCain certainly fit the bill).

So as far as that goes. Job well done, tiger.

Broken teleprompter?

TheShadowKnows Thursday, September 4th at 12:16AM EST (link)

I didn’t see it myself but I’m hearing that MSDNC reported that the teleprompter broke halfway through the speech, and that she finished it with the notes at her podium. I do recall her flipping through notes at one point, and she did seem to be staring straight ahead into the camera more than the other speakers.

Can anyone confirm whether the teleprompter broke or not? Because if that happened and she gave the speech so well nobody noticed, my respect and admiration for her went up another 300% or so.

Palin delivers like Joe Frazier

Man, now I see where she got her nick.

My first reaction when I started hearing all the “coverage” out of the liberal blogosphere and media, I wanted to look into things myself.

I spent 4 hours last night researching Palin. What was all the fuss about?

By two in the morning, I had to force myself to sleep. The more I read the more excited I got!

Man oh man I think the choice of Palin is quite possibly the best political move in 40 years.

She stands up, and delivers.

It’s funny to hear bashing coming from two senators working (or, supposedly working) in the congress with the lowest approval rating in the history of the country.

Sara’s got a comfortable 86% approval rating in Alaska.

I look forward to the next 2 months.

MSNBC and CNN keep using the words “sarcastic” and “bragging” in their analysis of her speech. They have plants in Alaska already talking about her high approval ratings. I wonder if they plan on framing her as an elitist in some way.

MSNBC and Matthews already want a piece of her. They believe the McCain camp will hide her away now that the speech is over.

The next few days are crucial in determining where they go. If they go down the route of her being arrogant they risk of missing the mark. She is a new beast and I suspect it will take them more time than they have to figure her out. She’s no Hillary so they won’t be able to use those tricks.

McCain and Palin will be a huge draw at rallies. I gave another donation tonight.

Please note that we are the only country in the world to restrict ourselves in this fashion.

How about a call to get them out of the way?

That’s why it’s so difficult to get behind either side. I see a history of bad judgment in Obama… from the pot smoking in his youth, to associating with the likes of Wright and Rezko. Watching Wright talk against our country makes me angry, especially knowing that Obama kept going to that church.

McCain was really looking like the right choice, but I can’t help but think that he made a very poor choice here. And geez… he married a swimsuit model, only to divorce her after she became disfigured, to marry a rodeo beauty queen. And now he picks as his running mate the runner up to Miss Alaska? It really makes me question his judgment.

Maybe Sarah will change my mind about her in the next few months. But I really can’t see her being President, just as I can’t see Obama as President.

“It’s over,” said Noonan, who then responded to a question of whether Palin is the most qualified Republican woman McCain could have chosen.

“The most qualified? No. I think they went for this — excuse me — political bullshit about narratives,” she said. “Every time the Republicans do that, because that’s not where they live and it’s not what they’re good at, they blow it.”

Murphy chimed in:

Maybe it wasnt a fake…Ahh that crazy media…

Then there is the faux pregnancy. Yes, it was faked. Daily Kos made the whole thing up. It doesn’t matter. There are still trolls all over the internet spreading the word and arguing the point. One commenter here stated that the baby that the daughter is carrying around is really a doll because Sarah Palin is covering up for the fact that her daughter is pregnant and when the baby is born they are going to switch the doll for the baby. I’m not at all sure how Palin knew her daughter would get pregnant and was able to plan the whole fake pregnancy thing or how they’ll be able to switch out the baby without anyone noticing. What I am sure of is that there is undoubtedly a devious and evil plan afoot that only Daily Kos and the far left will be able to untangle and attempt to explain.

Yes, she can speak...

indie Thursday, September 4th at 1:31AM EST (link)

…but I have to argue that the biggest weakness of the Bush administration was general incompetence all around. Bad communication was just part of that.

And that’s what I want to see in this ticket… people who are competent for their offices. We all saw what happened with FEMA and Katrina when you have someone in an office that they are not prepared for.

I’m tired of people being given positions based on either their connections or on some strategy that they think will get them elected rather than on whether they will actually do this country good.

I’ll most likely end up voting for McCain, but he sure would have made it easier for me if he picked someone who has already demonstrated competence in a position higher than running an outpost.

And enough with the liberal bashing in these speeches. I’m watching Rudy Giuliani right now… what is he doing, Don Rickles routine? I’m getting ready for him to call Obama a hockey puck. I already have my own opinions on the far left, as I’m sure most others do. So, what are these speeches trying to accomplish? All this talk just seems like negative energy being wasted when we should be talking about how we are going to make things better. A positive message is much better than a negative one.

Bragging? Blame it CNN.

Rod_Patrick (Diary) Thursday, September 4th at 1:31AM EST (link)

Instead of introducing Sarah officially, they started with her sham “darkest” secrets of Palin. Palin had to “brag” herself, because if not, she;ll never get the same opportunity again to explain herself to a greater number of electorate.

Sarcastic? Who wouldn’t be after MSM has painted you an unfit parent of a whoring daughter?

4/09/2008 2:28:00 PM

Hardly rises to the level of fascism there Kansas.

This is facism.
“A form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation or victimhood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, *working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, *abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion.” [Robert O. Paxton, "The Anatomy of Fascism," 2004] emphasis mine

Good but not Great

bvc Thursday, September 4th at 2:38AM EST (link)

From a fiscal conservative and a little left of center social policy guy [other words I don’t like gov’t/people restricting (pvt/personal) liberties] her speech wasn’t a Home Run but it was good. She is likable, folksy, and well-spoken. I don’t like the fact that her daughter and beau are being dragged into the public eye over something that a few years ago [and if they were a minority] would’ve triggered hoots and howls of “welfare mommas” and derisive comments about premarital sex. I like her feisty style and its one of the reasons I have liked McCain, plus he is more “centered” than the supposed “conservative base” of the RNC. He is running to the right to energize the base and get out the vote, he is shrewed enough to know that breaking the mold [with Palin] was smart move that appeals directly to voters Obama has trouble connecting with. However, don’t fool yourself, his track record is the way he will govern and many in the RNC didn’t like it then and you probably aren’t gonna like it when/if he gets in the White House.

Really, our country needs to reshape our political party’s in to 3 new ones: the crazy left liberals, the crazy right conservatives [who for the moment have accepted the reality of premarital sex] and a CENTRIST party for the rest of us [and majority of us]. See I’ve pissed off everyone, I’m sure, on this board but that is how many of us independent-minded people think and we’d take the centrist part of RNC and DNC with us. I vote – still just not sure for who I will cast my ballot. I urge everyone to look at non-partisan analyses of our candidates economic, foreign policy, and social/societal plans. Reread the Constitution and see who is upholding it. Forget the Hannity’s and Olbermann’s of the world and decide for yourself.

If you truly are fiscally conservative

virgil Thursday, September 4th at 2:46AM EST (link)

the choice should be as easy as breathing.

On the realities of premarital sex we social conservatives have always believed it existed but don’t hate those who are weak.

I don’t see how “welfare mommas” fits into this at all.

All in all I wouldn’t call your post a homerun. More like you got caught looking.

I've decided..you want to know?

I am ecstatic.

scotteiland (Diary) Thursday, September 4th at 2:52AM EST (link)

After three days of detestable PUKES running her family name through the MUD, Governor Sarah Palin gave the best political speech I’ve heard in a long, long time at the RNC in St. Paul.

Angry leftist journalists and Kos bloggers are bending over BACKWARDS to try and discredit her, because she basically represents everything the New York cocktail party circuit finds beneath them.

Too bad for the elitists. She’s hard as nails, unapologetically pro-family, and just made history on national television. And the leftist attacks against her daughter are going to backfire, because moms of teenagers aren’t going to like what they’ve done one bit (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, try to listen to Keith Olbermann talk for five minutes. You’ll get it.)

For the first time since 2000, I’m actually excited by our political prospects.

Great pick, Senator McCain. Now try to match her tomorrow.

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

You say:

What would really be impressive … was if she outlined a real energy plan to turn the country around instead of just attacking someone else’s position with no solution of her own.

Did you miss this part of the speech?

PALIN: Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we’re going to lay more pipelines … build more new-clear plants … create jobs with clean coal … and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources.

Now it’s obvious that you’re being willfully dishonest, isn’t it?

What makes you think you know what is or what is not "Centrist"?

I have been getting nautious over the CNN coverage of this election. I nearly threw my computer out of my office this morning, threw up in my mouth as I read liberal article after liberal article. When did it become ok to say that the news is what your personal beleif is? Oh yeah, when the liberals starting spewing their venom and the masses (sheep) readily ran with it. I was starting to think the entire nation was all for handing out more welfare checks to the meth heads…and then, I found this site.
I am from a very liberal state, though I don’t understand how, we still beleive in working for a living, but somehow, the bleeding heart liberals have taken over.
Mostly, I just wanted to say thank you for this site. I am a very even keeled person myself, unless poked. Last night as I watch Sarah take a stand against the machine, I was moved. I was deeply moved to watch an American woman take a stand against a liberal media, take a stand to protect and support her family which is under fire, for being an American family. Watching them squirm and continue to plaster the internet with their venom shows that they are scared. I personally am scared that the masses don’t understand what political lines stand for what. I consider myself conservative, though I do not stand hardline on some of the Republican issues, my right to do so as an American…but some of the things I’ve heard lately from the sheep makes me ill. I have some friends who swear up and down to me that the Republicans raise taxes and the Dems are looking out for us. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? Don’t worry, I am working on one sheep at a time.
I am rambling, but seems my comments will actually make this site, so I am exercising my frustration.

Sarah’s speech made a 33 year old man tear up last night, I am proud of my next Vice President and am honored to be a Republican.

You are obviously ignorant of the facts...

Under Sarah Alaska is persuing wind energy with several villages already obtaining power this way, has initiated the natural gas pipeline which will immensely help the U.S. become independent from foreign oil, is working on coal bed methane, methane hydrates, etc. She is concerned about the cost of energy to the citizens of Alaska (and the U.S.) and unlike Obammy is doing something about it.
