Absolutely unreal.

I’m off the charts angry at this point. The media as a whole has just dropped any pretense and is full-on attack mode, no holds barred, against this woman and her family.

Since my cable tv is out, I was forced to watch broadcast network of the convention and ended up having to turn it off. I watched for about 20 minutes after 10 O’Clock and kept switching through the channels in vain to find a network that wasn’t talking over the speeches about various Palin “scandals” or confronting McCain spokesmen with Democratic talking points.

It’s ridiculous. The networks have decided to turn coverage of the REPUBLICAN convention into an Obama campaign event filled with Democratic talking points.

They’re going after Levi

They’ll probably try to break the young couple up by paying operatives to wreck the relationship. Put SS on them too.

This is out of hand. That poor family needs an Army of protection. Any Special Ops volunteers out there?

But this is utter horse shit of the highest magnitude.

This is nuclear war, folks…an all-out attempt to use the power of the national press to destroy the lives of two teenagers and their baby to come for the sole purpose of pushing Gov Palin out of the race and throwing the race.

If you want to see the face of evil, this is it.

I will reiterate the last paragraph of my manifesto Here I Take My Stand:

And I entertain utter disdain for those media personages and media organization in this fine land who have prostituted all journalistic principles and brought down American political discourse to uprecedented and inconceivable depths of degradation, tearing down hitherto unbreached barriers of ethical restraint, in their persecution of Bristol Palin and their lust to destroy by innuendo and guilt-by-parentage the political career of Gov. Palin for strictly partisan and vindictive reasons unmoored from any sense of honesty or integrity.

To which list of targets I must now sadly add Levi and their unborn child.

The greatest evil…is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the offices of a thoroughly nasty business concern. -C.S. Lewis

A kind of brown shirt fanaticism has gripped the media–one part cultish devotion to the myth of Obama and one part blind rancor toward Republicans. They simply cannot be stopped because they have no shame, and any appeal you’d make to fundamental decency is meaningless to them.

If this election is close at all going into November, I won’t be surprised to SEE anything. And if McCain wins, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the likes of Katie Couric breaking windows and tossing Molotov cocktails on 5th Avenue.

Here we go again, another Deniable Obama Attack, these are the real political donations.

Advertisers is the key.

PSDA (Diary) Tuesday, September 2nd at 11:19PM EST (link)

There probably aren’t a lot of Republicans who subscribe to a magazine like this, but a whole of us probably buy and use the products advertised therein.

When those paying for advertising start to hear from customers threatening boycotts, that’s how you REALLY get their attention and hit them where it hurts.

I actually think that would be a great proactive thing somebody ought to organize–there are enough Republicans fed up with this crap to really make a dent here. Let’s get some advertisers to pull their accounts with these clowns.

I am not a red meat conservative by any possible measure, being occasionally decried as a RINO by my Republican friends, but the utter lack of human decency on display here ensures that I will never buy another Wenner Media product and I will max out my contribution to the RNC Victory Fund. I just got off the phone with an independent, Democratic-leaning friend who is also furious about the viciousness of the attacks on Sarah Palin and her family and will make the first political donation of his life to the Victory Fund.

I do not believe Barack Obama himself is behind these attacks, but he cannot control his people and they are completely off their meds at this point. They need to be stopped.

I’ve never seen or heard anything like this. US Magazine and the rest of the media have found a way to go further than scraping the bottom of the barrel. Of course their meme is that it’s Sarah Palin’s fault, not theirs, that Bristol (and now Levi) are being splashed all over media outlets.

As we all know, BHO has gotten a complete pass, and lots of great and fluffy press. And I do not believe that he gives a damn about what his fans are doing, I don’t care what he said.

Some smart FEC wonk needs to start something

A pox on both houses, since no one can point fingers. Remember Atwater.

Something really needs to be done about this, though. In kind contributions logged to the Dems should max them all out.

Ranger up, here, and find a way to combat this c@*p.

The call for special ops may be a bit much. :-) But this is reprehensible “journalism” at its worst. The “piece” describes his MySpace bio in the most insinuating way possible. A person’s MySpace bio isn’t a flippin’ story and someone doesn’t “admit” to “not wanting kids” when they select that pre-worded option over “One day, but not right now.” Are we to chastise the boy because there wasn’t a choice reading “I love kids – pile ‘em on as soon as possible?” What seventeen year old in the country would honestly choose that one?

The kids are playing the hand they were dealt. More power to them. Us is just being sensationalistic to be sensationalistic. If this had been a Rolling Stone piece or a similarly liberal publication, then I would be suspicious of Obama’s campaign. I don’t think Us has a political leaning any more than the Weekly World News does when it inevitably breaks the story that Bristol Jr. is a two-headed bat baby. (For the record, I don’t think she’s going to have a two-headed bat baby. :-)

It’s all just scandal-chasing and celebrity poking. I don’t think anyone should be too concerned about what Us Magazine is saying.

This is just plain dirty

I also notice that there weren’t actually any interviews with him or his family or his friends.

That myspace page could have been written a year ago-things change, especially when faced with the reality of kids.

Hmmm...

I haven’t kept up with this un-wed teen pregnancy story other than gleaning the basics from this site.

But I have to react to this:

The kids are playing the hand they were dealt.

I think I’ve seen similar sentiments in other comments here, and I really think this is one in particular is a peculiar way to put it, perhaps to the point of setting a poor example.

The expectant mother and father were not “dealt a hand”, a baby didn’t “happen to them”, etc. They made a very deliberate choice that entailed potential consequences that they knew of beforehand. Whatever the circumstances, each deliberate choice in the line of actions that led them to this point was selected by them, not randomly assigned by fate.

Any teens or young adults (or, ahem, adults) reading this would do well to remember that.

To be "dealt a hand"

blooch Wednesday, September 3rd at 7:37AM EST (link)

automatically assumes one is “playing the game”. No one has suggested that they are innocent victims of anything other than outrageous media-driven political frenzy. The fact that they are behaving like adults and taking responsibility for their actions, while the MSM is behaving like a bunch of adolescents is something that, “…any teens or young adults (or, ahem, adults) reading this would do well to remember…”.

Again with the euphemisms.

They didn’t decide to “play a game”. They decided to have sexual intercourse.

They weren’t “dealt a hand”, they conceived a child.
