I've a call in to them to physically remove the thing. If they won't take it out, I'll go straight to court.... won't even bother with the PSC here. Apparently it's voluntary here in Flori-duh and there's a discount from your monthly bill if you sign up for the "service" that gets hooked in to your overall home electrical system and definitely passes through the a/c, water heater and entire kitchen. I think the system here is tied into the whole house. My folks were only thinking about the discount when they said 'yes' to FP&L and their branded "On Call Service" that can completely control the electricity entering a home. To senior citizens, the biggest selling point/feel-good nonsense of the program is the discount and that this system notifies FP&L in the event of power outages and supposed problems at the house. Sorry, but I'm not a sucker born every minute. I'm a really nice guy, but hey.... don't mess with my ability to turn on a TV if there's a NASCAR event running.
