According to a motion filed with the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. on Friday, prosecutors in the Roger Stone case have requested to admit into evidence a four minute clip from the movie “The Godfather: Part II.” Stone referenced this particular scene in a text message to radio host Randy Credico and prosecutors believe this will provide jurors with important context. They are hoping to prove that the former Trump campaign advisor engaged in witness tampering. (Scroll down to watch the clip.)

Stone was indicted by a federal grand jury in January 2019. He is charged with obstructing a congressional investigation, making numerous false statements to Congress and witness tampering. Stone has plead not guilty to all charges.

More specifically, he allegedly arranged to obtain damaging emails about Hillary Clinton from Wikileaks.

Credico was interviewed by investigators from former special counsel Robert Mueller’s team about his involvement with Stone and Wikileaks. Prior to his testimony, Credico received a text from Stone which said, “Start practicing your Pantagele [sic].”

In the relevant scene, character Frank Pentangeli, an associate and friend of crime boss Vito Corleone, is testifying before a congressional committee. He has previously provided investigators with a sworn affidavit in which he provided incriminating information about the family. When he sees Michael Corleone and his brother walk into the courtroom, he claims “he don’t know nothin’ about it.”

In an April 2018 text, referring to Credico’s dog, Bianca, Stone tells Credico he will “take that dog away from you.”

When contacted by CNN after his indictment in January 2019, Stone said his texts to Credico were “light-hearted.”
