The Sarah Palin RocknRoll Tour to Save the GOP

The folks at Red State are always soliciting new ideas for rebuilding the party and regaining control of our country. I propose the Sarah Palin RocknRoll Tour to Save the GOP featuring Sarah Palin, the Lt. Dan Band and other commit artists.

The tour would consist of a series of dates and venues through out the country of course and the money raised would go to fund campaigns to capture seats in the House and Senate. The message is simple: It’s cool to be conservative and here are the reasons why.

  • Freedom to pursue opportunity and live the life that most people in other countries only dream of.
  • Embrace the exceptional role of America and all it stands for now and through out history.
  • Personal responsibility is the key to  success in family, career and personal growth.
  • Conservatism means helping people who can’t help themselves instead of those who won’t help themselves.
  • You are the master of your fate not government.
  • Yes. Conservatives are allowed to dance.

And the list goes on…

Andrew Breitbart makes the case that conservatives shouldn’t cede the pop culture to the liberal Democrats of New York and Hollywood. I think he’s right. We need to stop being the party of old white guys in golf pants. Steven Crowder and his now famous YouTube videos are doing more to resurrect conservatism than Michael Steel and the RNC. Hello?

Let’s chisel away the layers of fossilized ideas and start to think outside the box.

Gov. Palin is going on tour in April.

I couldn’t find the news release – I can hardly find the keyboard at 5:30 AM. Anyway, she’s got a couple of Republican/political dates in the Lower 48 next month. Something in Indiana and somewhere else as best I recall. There should be something on SarahPac’s site. She’s doing it through SarahPac, since she now catches Hell anytime she goes anywhere no matter how legitimate a function it might be for a governor to attend. Some of that is Democrat/Greenie sniping but some she brought on herself by being way too fast and loose with bringing her kids and/or Todd along to various events at State expense. Travel at State expense, especially out of State or international travel, always gets attention here, so much so that each year the State government publishes the travel expenses incurred by all elected and appointed officials and the top 100 non-political employees’ travel as well.

In her defense, I doubt she claimed the travel herself; no elected or appointed official does their own travel costs/reimbursement stuff. I knew how to do it, but I was always happy to have somebody else just do it for my signature – and I got in trouble a few times too for something I signed without reading. Some of her staff did it for her and she’s caught all sorts of flak for some of the charges claimed. So, the sniping for this travel is, of course, that she ought to be here. Not really, but it sounds good, I guess. I worked within two or three levels of the four governors before her and I never missed any of them when they were out of town.

A low key begining

The press release is here: http://www.teamsarah.org/. No matter what she says or does, the left will be all over it twisting and distorting. Although these two events may be immune from attack.

“Palin will be attending the Vanderburgh County Right to Life dinner in Evansville, Ind., on April 16 and a breakfast the following day with members of S.M.I.L.E., a nonprofit support organization for people with family members who have Down syndrome.”

But who knows; Andrew Sullivan will certainly find something sinister to write about.

Never give in! Never! Never! Never!
